Within an hour, a new missing poster had spread throughout Moon Hawk City.
The portrait depicted a young brown-skinned woman wearing a blue dress, with a reward of 500 spirit stones offered to anyone who found her and brought her back safely.
For ordinary cultivators, such a reward was simply too tempting to ignore.
"Hey... isn’t this the woman from the poster?"
A First Level Qi Refining cultivator stopped in the middle of the street as his eyes widened in surprise. Hazel was quietly wandering through the marketplace, curiously observing the stalls without paying attention to the people around her.
The young cultivator immediately approached her with great caution. Seeing that she neither resisted nor spoke, he carefully escorted her back to the inn where Tyler was staying.
Tyler smiled as the young man arrived.
"Thank you very much. Here is your reward."
Without any hesitation, he handed over a pouch containing five hundred spirit stones.
The young cultivator accepted it with trembling hands. Judging from his patched robes, he had probably never possessed such wealth before. After repeatedly expressing his gratitude, he hurriedly hid the pouch inside his robes before disappearing into the crowd, afraid someone might rob him.
Once the room became quiet again, Tyler’s attention shifted to Hazel.
She calmly reached out and took the strange cross-shaped trinket from Tyler’s hand before trying to press it against her chest.
Tyler immediately caught her wrist.
"Don’t."
His tone became much more serious than before.
"Don’t activate it unless it’s absolutely necessary. Do you understand?"
After speaking, he slowly released her hand.
Hazel silently looked at him with her vacant blue eyes. Then, instead of activating the trinket, she merely placed it against her chest.
Suzuka’s expression changed.
"You..."
She instinctively took a step back, expecting Hazel to disappear once again.
However, several breaths passed without anything happening.
The trinket simply slipped from Hazel’s hand and fell onto the floor with a soft sound.
Tyler bent down and picked it up, letting out a small sigh of relief.
"It seems she wasn’t trying to activate it."
He examined the trinket for a moment before smiling faintly.
"I think she simply wants to wear it."
Turning toward Suzuka, he said, "Could you buy a chain or perhaps a spirit silk cord? Something that matches its colour. We’ll let her wear it as a necklace."
Suzuka nodded.
"I’ll be back shortly."
After she left, Tyler looked at Hazel again.
"The necklace will arrive soon. Until then, this stays with me."
Hazel offered no objection.
To be safe, Tyler silently used his Corpse Control Art to suppress Hazel’s perception. Although he still couldn’t completely control her movements, he could at least prevent her from reacting to certain objects.
Only after confirming that Hazel remained calm did Tyler take out the Copper Pot.
He carefully placed the mysterious trinket inside, then he retrieved a perfect copy.
The copied trinket was quietly stored inside his storage bag, while the original remained in his hand.
Not long afterward, Suzuka returned carrying a finely crafted silver chain whose colour perfectly matched the strange cross-shaped pendant.
Before placing it around Hazel’s neck, Suzuka looked toward Tyler.
"Should we test it first?"
Tyler nodded.
"That’s exactly what I was thinking."
Suzuka took the trinket from him and held it against her own chest. She slowly infused spiritual energy into it while extending her spiritual sense, attempting to activate whatever mechanism was hidden inside.
Several moments passed.
Nothing happened.
She tried once more with a greater flow of spiritual energy, but the result remained exactly the same.
Tyler wasn’t surprised.
"It didn’t respond," Tyler said after watching Suzuka’s second attempt fail. He calmly thought for a moment before continuing, "That was more or less what I expected. It seems this trinket only responds to Hazel. As for the reason... I still haven’t figured it out."
Suzuka lowered the pendant and returned it to him.
"If that’s the case, I wonder whether she can teleport other people or objects along with herself."
Tyler nodded thoughtfully.
"I think it’s possible."
Suzuka looked at him curiously.
"How can you be so sure?"
Tyler smiled.
"When Hazel first teleported, she wasn’t naked. She was wearing clothes. That means the trinket doesn’t only teleport her body. It can also bring along whatever she’s carrying or wearing."
Hearing that explanation, Suzuka immediately understood.
"That makes sense."
Tyler walked over to Hazel and carefully fastened the trinket around her neck.
"Let’s verify it."
He took out a book from his storage bag and placed it in Hazel’s hands.
"Teleport behind me."
Hazel obediently nodded. She didn’t touch the pendant or make any obvious movement. The moment the command was given, a faint fluctuation spread through the room.
In the blink of an eye, Hazel disappeared.
The next instant, she silently appeared behind Tyler, still holding the book exactly as before.
Tyler turned around and took the book from her hands before smiling with satisfaction.
"Good. At least she doesn’t teleport to some random location again."
He chuckled lightly, "I’d rather not spend another five hundred spirit stones putting up missing posters again. Waste of time."
Suzuka couldn’t help smiling as well, "The object came with her without any problem."
Tyler nodded, "Which means inanimate objects aren’t an issue."
Suzuka extended her hand, "Then shall we test it with a living creature? I can—"
Before she could finish speaking, Tyler gently pushed her hand aside.
"I’d rather not risk it. We don’t know how this thing works yet. It would be troublesome if something unexpected happened."
Instead, Tyler stepped outside for a few minutes.
When he returned a few minutes later, Tyler was carrying a palm-sized ladybird. He gently placed the little creature into Hazel’s hands, and she quietly held it in her palms, watching it tried to crawl across her fingers with her usual vacant expression.
Hazel tilted her head slightly before bringing the ladybird toward her mouth.
Tyler immediately caught her wrist,."Don’t eat that."
Hazel looked at him with the same vacant expression as always.
A moment later, she raised the insect toward her mouth again.
Tyler stopped her once more.
"I said no."
Hazel paused for a second before making another attempt. She tried again with unwavering determination.
Tyler sighed.
"Still no."
Again
"Nope..."
"I’ll get you something much more delicious later." Tyler could only laugh helplessly. "So don’t eat the ladybird."
This time, Hazel quietly lowered her hand.
Suzuka covered her mouth, trying to suppress her laughter, "I never imagined a corpse puppet would behave like a curious child."
Tyler gently patted Hazel’s head.
"Good girl." He then pointed behind himself. "Now, teleport behind me."
Hazel disappeared instantly.
A faint ripple passed through the room before she silently reappeared behind Tyler, exactly where he had instructed.
Tyler immediately took hold of her wrist and looked down at her palm.
The little ladybird was still there.
It remained completely unharmed, calmly trying to crawl across Hazel’s hand as though nothing had happened.
Tyler’s eyes lit up.
"So living creatures can be transported as well..."
This discovery made the mysterious pendant seem even more valuable than he had first imagined.
