My Succubus Harem System In The Reverse World

Chapter 109: Slamming the Door Open to Reclaim My Monster First

The door opened from the other side, hard enough to startle the air.

Gianna came through it like someone who had argued with herself the entire length of the corridor and lost.

Her hands caught my face.

Her mouth found mine with none of the careful distance she had spent days building.

The kiss was desperate and messy, salt from her tears, breath unsteady, teeth nearly catching when the angle went wrong and neither of us cared enough to fix it politely.

Her tongue pushed into my mouth like she already knew the map and was done pretending she did not.

My hands found her waist on instinct and pulled her in, the full line of her against the new height and density of my frame, and for a moment the apartment, the week, the video, and the exam all narrowed to the single stupid relief of not having to miss her at arm’s length.

Something near my core blinked hard and locked.

[Primary Anchor Re-established]

[Target: Gianna Everheart]

[Anchor integrity: restoring]

[Emotional charge: Unstable — High intensity]

[Note: Voluntary re-assertion detected. Host–anchor channel partial sync resumed.]

The empty place filled with the familiar weight of her, anger, want, fear, and the stubborn decision underneath all three.

Just present.

Gianna broke the kiss only far enough for her forehead to rest against mine. Our breath shared the same small space. Her fingers were still in my hair, gripping like she might fall if she let go too quickly.

She didn’t speak.

Neither did I.

The sound of our breathing filled the silence in the room.

Something about her seemed different, settled in a way that had nothing to do with calm.

As if she had argued herself into a decision on the long walk back down the corridor and had chosen not to explain it to anyone, including me.

All I could do was hope the decision still had a shape that included me inside it.

Gianna had been the first person in this world to tell me I belonged somewhere.

That sentence had done more to keep me upright than half the system’s rewards.

I didn’t want it broken apart by a kiss on a training room recording, or by my own failure to control the order of the truth.

Before the moment could thin into something careful again, she kissed me a second time.

This one was slower only in the sense that it had weight.

A deliberate second claim after the first desperate collision, as if she needed to confirm that the channel she had shoved back into my core was still there when she reached for it on purpose.

Her mouth opened against mine.

My hands, already at her waist, tightened and drew her in until there was no honest space left between the new density of my frame and the lean, trained line of her body.

The anchor responded like a live wire.

[Primary Anchor Sync — Rising]

[Channel density: Increasing]

[Warning: Host regulation recommended — Intensity exceeds baseline re-assertion values]

I felt her in layers.

The pressure of someone choosing proximity against her own better arguments.

Anger still present, bright and clean.

And beneath all of it, a stubborn, wordless decision to put her essence back where it had been rather than leave the slot empty for the world to interpret as availability.

The angle of the kiss deepened.

For a few seconds the apartment narrowed to heat and breath and the faint tremor running through her when my hand splayed at the small of her back and pressed her closer still.

She made a sound into my mouth that was not quite a sob and not quite a plea.

I answered by holding her tighter, forehead nearly colliding with hers when the kiss broke for half a breath and then resumed, messier, less controlled, the kind of contact people used when language had already failed them once in a hallway, and they were not ready to trust it again.

There was no negotiation in it.

Only the fact of her choosing, twice in one day, to cross a distance she had demanded, and the fact of me receiving that choice without trying to turn it into a promise she had not offered.

When she finally pulled back, it was only far enough for her eyes to find mine in the low light.

Red-rimmed.

Steady in a way that hurt to look at. Her hands slid from my hair to the sides of my neck and rested there, thumbs against my pulse as if checking that I was still fully present, that the man holding her was not about to go empty-eyed and absent behind his own face.

I stayed present.

Her energy sat in my core like a returned weight.

Not comfortable.

Real.

The absence that had haunted the week was gone, replaced by the harder task of carrying someone who had every reason to leave and had come back anyway without giving me the script for what came next.

Gianna held my gaze for another long second.

Then her hands fell away.

She stepped back.

The air that rushed into the space between us felt colder than it had any right to.

She looked at me once more, something unfinished and fierce moving behind her eyes, and turned toward the door.

No boundary restated.

She left the same way she had returned: in silence, carrying whatever decision she had made down the corridor with her, leaving me in the entryway with the taste of her still in my mouth and the anchor thrumming like a second heartbeat under my ribs.

The door clicked shut.

Footsteps faded.

I exhaled, slow and careful, and let the silence of the apartment settle around the place where she had been.

She had included me in something.

Gianna had refused to name it on her way out the door.

I let out a breath that was almost a laugh and dragged a hand over my face.

"I’m in trouble," I admitted quietly to the empty room.

Then, despite everything, I smiled.
