The World Only Easter Egg

EPISODE 121 : “HOME AGAIN”

“FIISSHHHH!!!!” The train hissed, a leviathan of polished chrome and reinforced steel, slowing its gargantuan frame into New San Antonio’s central station. Even through the triple-paned, sound-dampening glass, I could feel the low thrum of the city—a chaotic, electric pulse that smelled of wet asphalt, ozone, and simply mundane everyday vibes.

Inside the station, the crowd was a blur of frantic energy, eyes glued to personal holographic displays. Every visible news feed, every flickering banner scrolling across the vast station atrium, screamed the same message:

[METEOR STUDIO DOMINATES THE WORLD MARKET.]

[Sael VT, Revolutionary music’s, Shatters Records and charts!]

“They really just milk the same topic again and again,”. I muttered as I remained seated in the plush, black leather interior of the customized black SUV waiting right by the platform edge.

My face was partially obscured by the high black collar of my jacket and the simple, non-descript mask I wore—by now it already becomes a habit and also kinda my trademark, originally to combat the city’s pollution, but now, increasingly, to combat recognition that seems to become more of a hassle then a something fun.

‘Funny, how things had progress’ I thought, sinking deeper into the soft seat.

‘Out there Sael VT, had slowly become the global icon who knows how to handle a board meeting and simply a genius when it comes to all thing’s music…. Although I originally start as just wanting to make game…Hehehe’

I glanced at my reflection in the tinted window.

“Compared to Hollywood… here, it is far more manageable…” Ramona, pulled her gaze from the reinforced window.

“That’s because, no one knew that we originated from here… I take extra precaution to ensure that this part of the secret remained secret…” I replied to her casually, which made her chuckled.

“We’re about to arrive, boss.” Her voice was low and steady, a comforting ballast in the rolling chaos.

“Yeah… Just, drop me off at the apartment, then return to HQ. Make sure the asset reallocation files from the Hollywood trip are secure… I need Sabina and the others to start crunching those numbers first thing tomorrow.” I nodded, the minimal movement enough to convey my acceptance.

“Alright, Boss” Ramona acknowledged the order with a slight dip of her head. “All unit take notice…. Safe arrival confirmed for… Hardcox residence.”

The SUV, flanked by two equally dark, silent escort vehicles, seamlessly merged into the late-evening traffic. The city became a colossal, dazzling display board.

Every other digital skyscraper surface flashed my success. Huge, vibrant banners advertising Neon Genesis, One Piece, and the latest VR project, all under the blazing, stylized comet logo of Meteor Studio.

“Looks like Samantha and her team already began the work…”. I said as I looked the extensive adds all over the city.

“It is, and every works from Meteor Creative, from comics and manga had already began ramping up in popularity, Sael…” Sunday chimed inside my head telling me that many of my suggested and stockpile of ‘ideas’ had been born and brought to this world by Samantha and her team.

It was satisfying, almost intoxicating, to see the proof of my strategy plastered across a city that had once felt so impossibly large and unforgiving.

The convoy finally veered off the main thoroughfare, cutting through a residential district that still clung stubbornly to the gritty, analog aesthetic of old New San Antonio. The sleek, silent convoy slowed, stopping not at a penthouse or a gated mansion, but rather a modest, squat brick apartment building.

The moment the SUV door opened, the night air hit me. It didn’t smell clean. It smelled like the city I grew up in: a mix of oil fumes from the traffic below, the sharp, metallic tang of an approaching rain shower, and the faint, sweet scent of laundry detergent wafting down from the higher floors.

I hauled myself out, ignoring Ramona’s professional offer of assistance, and dragged my two heavy suitcases—one filled with clothes and tech, the other stuffed mostly with the physical, irreplaceable memorabilia I’d collected in Hollywood.

“I’ll take it from here, Ramona. Get some rest.”

“Call if you need anything, boss.”

I gave a two-finger salute, watching the intimidating convoy melt back into the anonymity of the city night, before turning the other way.

The apartment building lobby was poorly lit. The elevator, a relic from a previous, less digitized age, greeted me with a familiar mechanical groan. I shoved the heavy suitcases in and hit the button for our floor.

The ride up was a symphony of nostalgia. VRRRRRR-CHUNK! each floor change announced. The old cage shuddered, the metal groaning under the strain, each ding echoing not just in the small enclosed space, but in the deeper recesses of my memory. This was the sound of coming home, far more grounding than anything, despite just how cheap and rundown this place was, it was far more suitable for me, it felt familiar and just humbling to me.

When the doors finally wheezed open, the hallway light—that warm, slightly yellow incandescent glow—hit me like a physical wave. It felt right. It felt solid.

I unlocked the familiar deadbolt, the cheap mechanism clunking loudly in the evening quiet, and pushed the door open, allowing the smell of the apartment—clean, warm, and subtly spiced—to wash over me.

“I’m home,” I called softly, dropping the suitcases heavily onto the worn carpet with a dull THUD.

I hadn’t even fully managed to shed my high-tech, slightly theatrical jacket when it happened.

Nadia, rushed in from the kitchen hallway. She didn’t say a word. She moved like a hurricane of soft desperation, crashing into me.

Her arms wrapped around my waist with a fierce, uncompromising strength, burying her face into my chest, inhaling the scent of transit and expensive leather. It was the kind of hug that didn’t just greet you; it erased the miles, the weeks, the contracts, and the corporate espionage. It reminded me that the 'me' responsible for billions of dollars was secondary to the 'me' who was simply hers.

I dropped my hands onto her back, holding her just as tightly. The world outside, the screaming headlines, the looming market adjustments, all dissolved into the comforting material of her sweater.

“Welcome home, you’re really back,” Nadia murmured against my shirt, her voice thick with soft relief.

“Yeah,” I replied, my voice cracking slightly with sincerity. A genuine, uncalculated smile spread across my face. “Finally. I’m finally back.”

“Mwah!~” Our kiss was tender, immediate, and deep. It wasn't the demanding, rough kiss of hunger that often characterized our intimate moments; it was grounding, a soulful confirmation.

“It’s nice to come back and welcomed like this,” I said to Nadia as soon as we parted lips.

“Hah! Stop talking like you’ve been gone for years, Malysh” She laughs and helped me with my luggage, walking together deeper inside.

“By the way, Where’s everyone?” I asked, curious. Usually, the apartment was a hive of activity, particularly with Natalia, around.

“They’re helping your mom and Vera…. The restaurant is near the opening time…. Everyone had to chip in their time, since Cathy and Vera refused to hire anyone for help…” Nadia smiled, pulling back just enough to look at my face, her eyes sparkling with shared excitement

“Oh? They actually do that? aren’t we still arguing about the name?” I stared at her, genuinely surprised.

Nadia laughed, shaking her head. “Yeah. They did a soft launch, yesterday, mostly calling Emily friends to taste the dish, it went well…. Cathy was buzzing. Bella and Emily went over to help serve, I think. Took forever just to decide on a name, too. Your mom and Aunt Vera went through about fifty suggestions involving awful puns about family and cooking.”

I raised an eyebrow. “Oh God. What culinary monstrosity did they finally settle on?”

“Hardcox Kitchen.” Nadia said with a smile in her face, about to laugh it out.

“What? hahahaha” I burst out laughing, the sudden, genuine bellow feeling strangely liberating. It was loud enough to echo slightly off the small hallway walls, a sound foreign to the silent, controlled boardrooms I had been inhabiting. I shook my head, already picturing Vera’s no-nonsense handwriting on the sign.

“Seriously? Hardcox Kitchen? All that high-level, multi-day, family brainstorming strategy session… for that?”

“You know how they were… they tend to overthinks too much…” Nadia shrugged, totally unrepentant, linking her arm through mine as we walked towards the couch. “Hardcox Kitchen is Simple, easy to remember, and impossible to forget. It’s perfect, actually.”

“It’s aggressively literal,” I chuckled, but there was no malice in the observation. I loved that they had done it.

I loved that while I was out there working in Hollywood, my family was battling health inspectors and flour suppliers, pursuing their own small, tangible dream. They had used the investment I had given them to create something real, something that smelled of actual food, not the synthetic nonsense most people ate these days.

“Well, as long as they decide something and working on it, it was good enough for me…”. I shrugged my shoulder to that. To me, the restaurant was my gift to mom and Vera. They have been slaving away for others gains. At least this restaurant were theirs.

“They enjoy working on it, that is what is more important…”. Nadia agreed and nodded with me. she knew why I gave Mom and Vera the funding, and she agreed with my intention.

We shared another quiet laugh, the sound filling the small apartment. I pulled off my expensive jacket, tossing it carelessly onto the back of the sofa, the fine material pooling slightly. I felt the tension leeching out of my shoulders, replaced by a deep, familiar contentment. Both of us sat on the living room sofa, and talked.

The sound of the city, the traffic hum, the constant, distant siren wails—it all faded into background noise. The only sound that mattered now was the low, steady Mmmmmm… of the refrigerator unit in the kitchen, a mundane, domestic drone. And goddamn, I loved this feeling of being at home, free of any pressure.

“So, ‘Hardcox Kitchen,’ huh?” I grinned, pulling Nadia onto my lap and burying my face in her neck, inhaling her familiar, intoxicating scent.

“I guess I know where I’m getting dinner from tomorrow. But tonight…”

“Hmmm?” Nadia’s breath hitched slightly, already understanding the shift in my tone—the easygoing humor sharpening into something more possessive, more primal.

“Tonight,” she whispered, her hands finding the hem of my shirt, “we can start unpacking.”

“Unpacking can wait,” I corrected, my hands already moving confidently beneath her sweater, grounding myself in the warm, tangible reality of her skin. The stress, the long flight—it all suddenly translated into a singular, urgent need for physical connection.

“Mmph♥ Chuuu♥ Lick lick lick lick♥” I moved first. There was no gentle preamble. I didn’t waste time on pleasantries; I wanted to consume her. I took her mouth with a shocking, demanding force. It was sloppy, a raw clash of teeth and tongues designed to obliterate thought.

“Nghhhh~ Nghhhh!!” Nadia, immediately crumpled, her hands flying up to clutch my shoulders as if grounding herself against a sudden gale.

“My boy,” she gasped against my lips, her voice thick with that seductive. “Sael, moya lyubov.”

I didn't break contact, pulling the hem of her blouse up until the expensive fabric sailed over her head. My hands went straight for the buttons of her skirt, ripping them apart rather than bothering with the clasps. I don't know who was faster, but within thirty seconds, we were both standing naked in the living room, the residual heat of the afternoon radiating off our skin.

Nadia looked up at me, her chest heaving, her eyes glazed over with worship. The anticipation was a drug in the air.

“On your knees, babushka,” I commanded, my voice dropping into the low, gravelly tone of absolute dominance. I didn’t need to ask twice.

"Kakoy krasivyy," She sank down heavily onto the plush rug, her gaze never leaving my thickening cock, which was already straining hard. I walked over to the sofa and sat down, spreading my legs wide, allowing her full, unhindered access. The sheer, silent submission was a profound turn-on.

“Schlllck~ Schlllck!!” Nadia reached out, her fingers warm and careful, yet desperate. She grasped my shaft and brought her head down, immediately claiming me.

“Mmmm~ Schlurp. Schluuup. Schluuup.” She was sloppy, yes—lost in the moment, but she was also incredibly skillful. The rapid, wet suction was interspersed with deep, careful strokes, proving she remembered exactly what I liked.

“Schlupp~ Gluck-Gluck” She utilized her soft palate, manipulating the angle until the pleasure was a searing spike straight to my brain.

I ran my hands through her hair, gripping just hard enough to remind her who was in charge.

“Ahhh~ Good girl, Nadia. You know your place, God~ I love your mouth, Babushka” I muttered, leaning back against the embroidered cushion.

“Suck. Swallow Gag! Gag! Ahhh~” She pulled back just long enough to speak, her chin slicked with my pre-cum.

“Da. Only for ty, Sael…. I live to serve my man. You’ll Need more, yes?” Drool slicked my thighs. She looked up at me, her eyes watering, pupils blown wide. The sight—my grandmother, on her knees, sucking my cock like it was holy communion, was so freaking hot.

“Yeah, I need more,” I confirmed, shifting my weight forward. “Now suck my balls, like you mean it…. Make me feel like a god, Nadia~…”

“Lick. Slurp!! Schlup. Schlup……♥” Nadia pressed her cheek against my thigh, using both hands to lift my scrotum, her tongue flicking across the taut skin lovingly, religiously.

“Slurp. Lick, lick… Lick…♥Suck, suck, suck.” The feeling was electric; the kind of devout attention that made me feel truly deserving of the role of her man.

“Slurp. Slurp. Slurp!! Lick. Slurp.” Then she took one heavy testicle into her mouth, suckling gently, rhythmically.

“Suck. Swallow. Gluck-gluck!!” Her eyes drifted shut, an expression of profound devotion smoothing her features. As if this act—servicing her grandson’s balls—was her highest purpose. But I was too hard, too demanding for slow worship. I needed the violence of depth.

I stood up abruptly, pulling my cock free from her mouth. Nadia looked up, confused but instantly ready for the next command. I gripped her jaw firmly, tilt her head back and forcing her mouth wide open.

“I want to feel you choke on me, Nadia. I want to feel your throat fight me,” I growled, stepping forward.

“THUMP!! PAHH!!” I lunged forward, slamming the head of my cock straight past her teeth.

“Ugh. Ughk. Guk!! GUHUK!!!”

Nadia’s eyes watered instantly, the back of her throat seizing up against the invasion. I showed her no mercy, holding her head steady as I used my hips to drive the length of my cock deep into her esophagus repeatedly. The sound of her suppressed gagging, mixed with the wet, tearing sounds of my cock sliding, was music to my ears.

“Raskroy rot shire!!! Take it, you greedy slut,” I spat, my hip rocking faster and faster. “Swallow every inch. You want to serve me? You want your man? Then open wider and take what I give you!”

“Gag-gag-gag.” Her hands went submissively behind her head, locking her fingers at the base of her neck. A perfect, obedient target. She was crying now, but not from distress—from the sheer, overwhelming pressure of the dominant encounter.

“Schlurp. PAH! Schlurp.”

I gripped the back of her head and thrust. Hard. Deep. Past her soft palate, into the tight clutch of her throat.

“Gag. Choke. Guh! Guk!” Her body convulsed, but she held herself open, her throat muscles fluttering wildly around me.

“Spasm. Gurgle. Slurrrp!!” I fucked her face with brutal, piston-like strokes. Thrust. Retreat. Slam.

“Schlick! Schlock!” Each plunge drew ragged, wet gasps. Spit flew, coating her chin, her neck, my thighs.

“You love this dont you, babushka? PAH! PAH!" I snarled, watching her throat bulge obscenely with every brutal thrust. Her eyes streamed tears, mascara bleeding down her cheeks like charcoal rivers.

"Da," she choked around my shaft, the word vibrating through flesh—wet, muffled, utterly broken

"Ya lyublyu eto, moy mal'chik. gluck-gluck-gurgle!!!" Her throat convulsed, a desperate *as I rammed deeper, grinding against her epiglottis.

“Hurk! Splatter. Guk!! GUHUK!!! AUURRHHHH~” She gagged violently, ropes of thick saliva spraying across my thighs. But then, as I hammered her soft palate one last time, a different sound mingled with the wet schlurps.

A sharp, ragged cry escaped Nadia.

“AAHH!!! GUOO~ Ooh-Ooooohhhhhh~♥♥"

She came. Right there, on her knees, being brutally fucked in the mouth, she climaxed violently.

And I followed instantly.

“Eat it all! Every drop, bitch! It’s yours!” I roared, emptying my load in fierce pulses down her throat.

“Spluuurt. Spluuurt. Spluuurt.”

I pulled back, breathing heavily, my cock dripping. Release hit like a sledgehammer. Hot, thick ropes surged down her gullet.

“Pulse-gush-splurt.” She gulped frantically, throat working—gulp-glug-gulp—but it overflowed. Creamy white rivulets leaked from her nostrils, dripped off her chin.

“Dribble-splat”. I kept thrusting through the aftershocks, fucking the mess deeper.

“Hack-wheeze-spit”. She collapsed forward; forehead pressed to the rug. Coughing. Gasping. Then, trembling, she crawled forward and took my softening cock into her mouth again, tongue swirling tenderly over the sensitive head.

“Slurp. Lick, lick Swirl-flick-lap.” Cleaning me with reverent whimpers.

"Spasibo," she whispered against my skin, lips bruised and swollen. Thank you.

I leaned down, pulling her into a messy hug. It was moments after the intensity, and the shift in atmosphere was jarringly clinical for a second.

“You okay, babushka?” I asked, using a towel to gently wipe some cum from her lips.

“Yes…. I’m okay…Cough! I’m Always happy when you’re hard, like this…” Nadia nodded, still catching her breath.

As I held her close, my gaze drifted down to her chest. I noticed a small glistening droplet on the tip of her left nipple, rapidly followed by another. It was a pale white, thick liquid.

“Wait—Nadia, what is that?” I asked, pointing.

She followed my gaze, a pleased smile spreading across her face. Her breathing settled back into a normal, conversational rhythm.

“Ah! This is good, yes? The pills worked. I told you, moya zvezda. Lactating pills—they are working~ They worked faster than expected… too, do you like them?”

My heart hammered in my chest, a sudden, primal excitement washing away the post-cum haze. Lactating. My grandmother was lactating for me. The idea was instantly, intensely arousing.

"You mean..." I trailed off, grinning widely.

"Yes. I now have milk for my man.” She lifted her breasts, offering them up willingly. “Do you want a taste? Come. You are hungry, no? Drink your reward, my man…. I know you’ve been waiting for this for a long time…~”

“Hehehe~ don’t mind if I do~ Slurp!? Suck…” I didn't hesitate. I vaulted over her lap, pinning her beneath me on the rug, and latching onto her right nipple instantly.

The milk was warm, slightly sweet, and unbelievably delicious. It was a different kind of intensity, a deeper, more nurturing connection that paradoxically drove my new erection to an absolute diamond hardness.

“Schlurp. Schluuup. Suck, suck, suck.”

A second was all it took for my analytical, perverted mind to merge the concepts of feeding and fucking. My cock was rock hard against her stomach, begging for entry.

I stopped sucking the right breast and moved back down to hover over her center.

“You like that, Sael?” she whispered, sweat slicking her chest.

“I love it. But I need more than milk now, Nadia. I need you empty.”

With a heavy grunt, I slammed into her damp, waiting entrance.

“PAH!”

I reclaimed the nipple I had just released, keeping my lips clamped tight as I began to fuck her. I settled into a seated position on her hips, maintaining absolute control over the depth and force.

“Rough now, da?” she demanded, gripping my buttock.

“Rough always, babushka,” I agreed between wet, sucking sounds. “You like my size now? It’s going to bruise you deep.”

“Yes! You are so big, Sael. Fuck me until I cry for mercy…. I want the pain.”

My hips pistoned down with a brutal, relentless rhythm. My mind was focused solely on two opposing sensations: the soft, sweet suction of the milk, and the brutal, hard grinding of bone on bone deep inside her.

“PAH! PAH! Schlurp.”

“Squelch-squelch-squelch” I pushed past the usual boundaries. I wanted to control her body entirely. With a final, agonizingly deep drive, I felt the unmistakable resistance of her cervical opening—her womb. I drove through it.

“AAAHHH! Splash-splash” Nadia screamed, a sound that started as pleasure but immediately curdled into shock and pain.

“THUMP!!! THUMP!! PAHH!! PAHH!!”

I ignored it, seeing only the prize. I drove my cock relentlessly into her womb, using every ounce of my dominance to hold that punishing depth.

“This is where you belong, Nadia! Deep inside, taking every inch of me!” I bit down on her nipple, hard, hearing the choked gasp as the pain shot through her.

“ahh, nn… Hhhnn…Ugh! UGH! Sael, gospodin—it hurts! I’m coming! I’m coming!” she screamed, her body arching off the floor.

“Guk!! GUHUK!!! SQUIRT!! SQUIRT!! SQUIRT!!” Her orgasm was immediate and violent. She seized around my cock, her hips hammering frantically upwards in a desperate attempt to meet the brutal rhythm.

“SQQUUIIIRRRTT!!! SQQUUIIIRRRTT!!!” It was a fountain. I watched, amazed, as her climax exploded from her in a spectacular gush of warm liquid, drenching my hips and stomach.

“AAHHH!!! Hngh! Hah… hng? H-haah?!~” Nadia’s screams became incoherent, pure noise driven by the overwhelming pain and pleasure of her cervix being pounded mercilessly. She was incoherent, but she found two words through the madness.

“Breed me! Please, Sael! Breed me now!” she shrieked repeatedly, tears and sweat marking tracks through the cum-stains on her face.

Her demand was my final trigger. I pulled her face up to mine and kissed her wetly, crushing her mouth with mine as I reached my peak.

“I’m going to fill you up, my little Russian whore! You are mine! You belong to my seed!”

I drove one last, monumental thrust, biting her nipple until I tasted copper, and unloaded deep into her womb.

“Spluuurt. Spluuurt. Spluuurt.”

I collapsed onto her chest, feeling the hot rush of satisfaction. For a few seconds, she remained frozen beneath me, eyes wide, her muscles twitching, before her world finally went dark.

She hadn't passed out completely, but she was gone from the intensity. Her hips twitched once more as a heavy sigh escaped her lips.

“So… big,” she whispered weakly, her eyes half-lidded. “You filled me so deep, Sael. Thank you.”

I was still throbbing, still hard. I lifted my head, panting. “That’s not enough.”

Nadia chuckled, a tired, wet sound. “Then fuck me until you had enough, my boy~.”

I wasn't ready to separate. I gripped her tight, sliding my hands under her buttocks, and with a grunt of exertion, lifted her entire body off the floor, my cock still buried to the hilt in her.

“Hold on,” I commanded.

Her legs wrapped obediently around my waist. The friction of the movement, the thick grinding of my balls against her soaking, slick flesh, instantly rekindled the fire.

I strode across the living room carpet, her wet, warm body pressed against mine, and slammed through the bathroom door. Steam immediately fogged the mirrors from the pre-warmed floor.

I kicked the shower on, not bothering to wait for the water to warm us. I pulled her back against the cool ceramic tiles, maintaining my depth, and began to fuck her again as the cold water streamed over our shoulders.

“PAH! Schlurp. THUMP!!! THUMP!! PAHH!! PAHH!!”

The sound echoed loudly in the confined space. The cold water only seemed to sharpen the aggressive force of my thrusts. I kept her pinned to the wall, fucking her hard and fast, the milk and cum washing down our bodies with the running water.

I came into her two more times, rapid, forceful shots deep into her ravaged core, before I finally allowed my spent muscles to relax and pulled out. Then, and only then, did we truly shower, leaning against the tile wall in exhausted, sated silence.

*****************

“My life is the best,” I muttered on my own, as I left the bathroom, as soon as I got back, my grandma was ready to embraced me and she did do so, without any rejection at all. That felt great as heck.

Right now, she was dipping herself inside the bathtub. Me ramming her womb were too much for her, that she needed a rest, as a man that was the best kind of compliment that I can ever ask.

I take my stolen hotel towel and wrapping it around my waist, I padded into my bedroom. My actual bedroom. The one with the slightly crooked shelf I’d put up myself and the faint ghost of old posters on the wall.

My suitcase sat open in the middle of the floor like a spilled treasure chest. But this wasn’t treasure for me. I started unpacking in silence, the only sound the soft rustle of fabric and the low hum of the air purifier.

I laid each item out on the comforter with a care. A silk scarf for Grandma Natalia, the color of red wine. A limited-edition, pre-Fall figure for Emily that had cost me a small fortune and a favor.

Each piece was something that they need and want, I bought them all, just like they wanted. I folded a cashmere sweater, slowly, deliberate, unhurried. My mind was blissfully, blessedly empty. For the first time in months, my brain was off the clock.

The silence felt so complete I had to break it.

“Sunday,” I said softly, my voice barely louder than the hum of the electronics. “What’s everyone doing right now?”

Her voice emanated from the room’s hidden speakers, a smooth, synthesized alto that was as familiar to me as my own heartbeat

“Kate is still in Pussyville,” Sunday began, the name of our burgeoning company town sounding utterly professional in her crisp tone.

“Overseeing the final logistical arrangements for the northern residential sector and the integration of Meteor Studio’s new corporate division headquarters. Amanda and Saiko are at Meteor Management’s downtown office, handling talent acquisitions and PR for Meteor Entertainment and Creative….”

I finished folding a pair of jeans, lining up the seams perfectly. “And?” I prompted, wanting the full picture.

“Concurrently, the Pussyville administrative team is executing phase two of the municipal establishment plan. The private security force is fully operational and patrolling. The fire department’s equipment has passed all safety certifications. Contracts with lead medical personnel for the local hospital have been signed as of 16:34 today.”

A low chuckle escaped me. I shook my head, a grin touching my lips. “That was fast.”

“Funds are abundant, and manpower is plentiful when wages are set fifteen percent above the standard rate,” Sunday stated, as if reading from an economic textbook.

“That’s true,” I mused, placing the jeans neatly in a drawer. “People flock to hope…. Especially when it pays well and doesn’t treat them like expendable cogs.”

There was a pause. A rare, almost human-like hesitation in the stream of data. When Sunday spoke again, her voice was softer, carrying a frequency I’d coded as… pride.

“The metrics are indicating a fascinating social shift, Sael. Meteor Studio is evolving beyond a corporate entity. It is becoming a municipality. A community. The term ‘company town’ is becoming a misnomer. It is simply becoming… a city.”

I stopped, a folded shirt in my hands. A city. My city. The thought was so colossal it was almost silly. I’d just wanted to make cool anime and bang beautiful women. Now I was building infrastructure.

I leaned back against my desk chair, the well-worn leather creaking in welcome. The analytics of it all scrolled through my mind’s eye. This world didn't lack for people. Hell, the global population dwarfed my old Earth's. The problem was the quality and length of that life. The average person was lucky to see seventy, their systems slowly poisoned by the side effects of the wars that had broken the old world. A sad, quiet statistic everyone accepted.

The governments, of course, kept lauding the need for more people. ‘Repopulate for a brighter future!’ It was mostly political theater. They didn’t want more people for the sake of humanity; they needed more taxpayers, more cheap labor to keep the engine of a sick society churning. And they kept the minimum wage depressingly low to ensure a steady, desperate supply.

No wonder our offers—a living wage, healthcare, a chance to live somewhere with clean(er) air—were like a siren’s call. It wasn’t charity. It was just basic decency, and it turned out basic decency was a hell of a competitive advantage.

My phone buzzed on the desk, lighting up with a cascade of notifications. Dozens of unread messages from producers, directors, sycophants. reports showing Meteor’s valuation climbing another few points. Partnership proposals from corps looking to glom onto our success. The machine was still running, hungry for attention.

My finger hovered over the screen. For a second, the old instinct kicked in—the drive to stay on top of everything, to never miss a beat.

I swiped them all away. The screen went dark.

“Not tonight,” I whispered to the empty room. “Just… let me be me for one evening...”

A faint, melodic hum drifted from the living room, cutting through my introspection. It was Nadia. I couldn’t make out the tune, but the sound was warm, domestic. The gentle clink of ceramic followed. She was making tea.

I walked to my bedroom door and peered out. The hallway light was dim, casting a soft glow into the living room. I could see the curve of her back as she moved around our kitchen, the steam rising from the kettle catching the light. The scene was so mundane, so profoundly simple. A domestic warmth filled the space, a feeling so tangible it was like a physical force. It was something no corporate empire, no stock valuation, no blockbuster premiere could ever replicate.

This. This right here. The reason for all of it. The all-night coding sessions, the high-stakes negotiations, the battles with rival corps. It was so I could have this peace without losing everything else. So, the people I cared about could have this peace. And, if I was being totally honest with myself, because building it had been a fucking blast. It was fun.

“This is why I build,” I said to myself, the words solid and true in the quiet of my room. A smile, easy and genuine, finally settled on my face. I left the souvenirs on the bed and the phone on the desk.

The synthetic-cotton blend of my sleeve was rough against my forearms as I leaned on the cool metal railing. My apartment’s window was a single, unremarkable square in a tower of a thousand others, but the view it offered was anything but. New San Antonio’s skyline sprawled out before me, a jagged forest of neon and chromed alloy, pulsing with a light that felt artificial, hungry. The air that wafted in carried the city’s signature scent: a metallic tang of ozone from the mag-lev trains below, undercut by the faint, ever-present sweetness of chemical smog. It was a far cry from the clean, star-dusted skies you’d see in a Ghibli film, that was for damn sure.

From the living room, the faint, tinny melody of some hyper-pop idol group Nadia was watching filtered through, a stark contrast to the city’s low, industrial hum. I tuned it out, focusing on the conversation only I could hear.

“Sunday,” I said, my voice barely above a murmur, yet perfectly picked up by the sub-dermal mic. “Tell me more. What about Meteor Creative’s current progress?”

The response was immediate, a calm, synthesized voice that felt like a thought forming in the space behind my eyes. “Samantha Myers has taken full control at Meteor Creative HQ in Pussyville. Morale is high…. Her teams are currently reworking all foundational comic titles for the imminent Full launch of all series…. Art revisions, lettering, and digital remastering are proceeding on schedule.”

A moth, its wings dusted with the city’s glittering pollutants, batted itself against the window screen with a series of soft “tick, tick, tick” sounds. I watched its futile dance. “Progress?” I asked.

“The project is ninety percent complete…. Current projections indicate a full global rollout across all Internet and digital site in one week…. And on our Mall as soon as everything were done…”

I let out a low, soft whistle. The sound was almost swallowed by the city’s white noise. “That’s faster than I expected… Sammy’s a goddamn machine. Remind me to triple her bonus.”

“Noted,” Sunday replied, its tone ever-neutral.

“Meteor Studio’s current financial position is secure. Post-launch, the comics division is projected to cement brand dominance in the narrative entertainment sector. Our analytics indicate a projected market reach that will surpass every major competitor within three months of the relaunch.”

A half-smile tugged at my lips. It wasn’t arrogance. It was… satisfaction. The kind you get when a plan you’ve painstakingly built, brick by mental brick, starts to look exactly like the blueprint in your head.

“Good…. Really good. I can’t wait to just… see it. To see people out there, on the mag-levs or in the cafes, totally lost in the pages…. Loving the works.”

My gaze lifted from the electric jungle below, searching for a break in the light-polluted haze. Up there, beyond the perpetual orange glow, were stars. Small, faint, stubborn pinpricks refusing to be completely erased. My smile widened, a private, slightly mad thing.

“In a world that lost its spark,” I whispered to the night, the words feeling both grandiose and utterly true, “I’ll bring imagination back…” A quiet chuckle escaped me.

“Hehehe… everyone needs to be addicted to it just like I do.”

It was a big thought, a heavy one. The kind that could make a guy’s head spin if he thought about it for too long. The weight of it was just starting to settle on my shoulders when another sound cut through the urban symphony.

Laughter.

Nadia’s laughter.

It was faint, filtered through the apartment’s cheap insulation, but it was real. Unforced. A warm, bubbling sound that was the complete antithesis of everything outside that window. It was a grounding wire, straight to my core. The grand, empire-building visions receded, replaced by the immediate, tangible reality of here. And now.

I looked back over my shoulder, through the doorway and into the warmly lit living room beyond. A genuine warmth, something soft and flickering, ignited in my chest, pushing back against the chill of the window pane.

“And maybe…” I said to myself, the words so quiet they were almost inaudible. “Maybe I’ll finally have time to just… breathe.”

Pushing off from the railing, I left the city to its own devices. My bare feet made soft padding sounds on the cool laminate flooring. My phone was on the low, scuffed coffee table, beside a half-empty glass of water that was sweating a small ring onto the surface. I picked it up, thumbing it awakes out of habit.

A notification glowed at the top of the screen. Not a social media alert or a message, but a news headline from a major financial feed I had Sunday monitor.

// Breaking: Meteor Studio Climbs to Global Rank #1 – Voted ‘Most Influential Creative Company’ by Nexus Business Review //

I stared at it for a second. Then a second more. A dry chuckle rumbled in my throat. The disconnect was so absurd it was funny. The most influential creative company on the planet. And its owner, its creative heart, was standing in a rented, two-bedroom apartment in a middling complex, wearing a pair of slightly-too-tight sweatpants.

“Heh…. And I’m sitting in a two-bedroom apartment,” I mused aloud, shaking my head. The title didn’t feel like an accolade. It felt like a resource. A tool. Another brick.

I set the phone back down, deliberately turning it face down. The digital world could wait. The empire could manage itself for a few hours.

I walked into the kitchen. The light was softer here, yellow and warm. Nadia was at the counter, her back to me, humming along to the show still playing in the other room. The scent of steeping tea—something herbal and calming—mixed with the rich, dark aroma of freshly brewed coffee. She hadn’t heard me come in. I took a moment just to watch her, the easy way she moved in this space we were slowly making our own.

She turned, a gentle smile already on her face, her eyes catching the light. “Oh, hey. Tea or coffee?”

I leaned against the doorframe, crossing my arms. My answer was immediate, born of a thirty-five-year-old’s caffeine addiction housed in a seventeen-year-old’s body. “Both.”

She laughed, that same warm sound from before. “Greedy. Coming right up.”

She turned to the cabinets, pulling down two mugs. I moved to help her, our shoulders brushing lightly as we navigated the small kitchen. It wasn’t a grand moment. There was no dramatic music, no sweeping camera shot. It was simple. Real. The clink of ceramic, the gurgle of the coffee pot, the soft “shhh” of steam from the kettle.

We settled at the small breakfast nook, the two mugs steaming between us. The city’s glow was a constant presence outside the kitchen window, but in here, it was just a backdrop. A painting on a wall.

I took a sip of the coffee. It was hot and bitter, exactly what I needed. Nadia blew on her tea, her eyes crinkling as she said something about the ridiculous plot of her show.

I laughed. It was a real, easy sound.
