Chapter 35: Being Honest With Each Other
After returning to the base, everyone went back to their respective duties. Silas resumed watching over the secondhand shop, while the other youngsters headed off to work as hotel security guards.
At the moment, only Viper and Dusk were down in the underground chamber. Dusk casually grabbed a chair and sat right in front of her desk.
"What’s our first move?" Dusk asked.
"Hold on, what’s the rush?" She replied nonchalantly. "It’s just a little bit of time, isn’t it?"
Work should always be balanced with relaxation—she wasn’t some kind of machine that kept operating without pause.
Of course, there was no such thing as relaxation for Dusk. Ever since his return to life, his days had been nothing short of intense.
Running into cops had become such a common event it felt like bumping into old friends. He’d seen them so often, he was sick of it.
"I didn’t come here just to admire your face," Dusk said, stretching out with a long yawn. "If you’ve got something to say, say it. Wasting time like this—I’d rather go kill another scumbag who deserves to die."
Without a word, Viper suddenly stood up and slowly walked behind him. Her hands slid gently over his shoulders, and the seductive scent of her perfume wafted straight into his nose.
"Am I not beautiful? Isn’t it worth admiring me?" She murmured in a voice dripping with temptation.
For reasons he couldn’t explain, her every move and word sent a chill down Dusk’s spine.
’Damn it, 99% chance she’s just bored and trying to mess with me. The other 1%? She’s messing with me for absolutely no reason.’
