Chapter 27: Kicking Down the Door
The new identity Viper had assigned to Dusk left him momentarily stunned.
Didn’t this mean he had to stick by her side all the time?
The very thought of having to be around her nearly every moment of the day made him deeply uncomfortable.
"Can’t... Can’t you just give me a different role?" he asked hesitantly.
At his words, her expression darkened. She grabbed him by the collar and threatened him coldly.
"Stop spouting nonsense—and don’t even think about running away. Doing anything stupid won’t end well for you. Be obedient, and I might just let you live a decent life."
"Fine," Dusk sighed.
What could he even say? That he refused? Only to get beaten down and forced to yield to her anyway?
The more he thought about it, the more Dusk realized the advantages of having a faction. Having a group of competent allies not far below his own level of power significantly amplified his strength and influence.
Thinking of factions reminded him of his own—the Great Love Guild.
’I wonder if those two are handling things properly. Hopefully everything’s going smoothly... I need that guild to grow into something solid.’
"Has Mirella sent you that bitch’s address yet? I bet Aldric is already on his way there," Viper asked.
