Chapter 367 - 365: No News at All
"What’s the matter? Weren’t you all so arrogant a moment ago? Get back up here and fight. No need to be polite with me. Come on, you bunch of idiotic dragons!" Lin Xuan taunted, his words making their faces flush red with pent-up fury. They desperately wanted to charge, but reason told them that whoever went up would die.
"Don’t get cocky. Even in Ice and Snow City, you won’t know a moment’s peace! We may be weaker than you, but that doesn’t mean our race has no one who can defeat you. Just you wait. The next time we meet will be the day you die!" A member of the Black Dragon Race shot them a vicious glare before immediately turning to flee, not daring to linger a moment longer.
Staying here was just humiliating. They didn’t dare to issue a challenge, and they had no one to help them, so what choice did they have but to leave? However, this battle was destined to be a great disgrace for the Black Dragon Race. With so many members of the Demon Race watching, the news would spread throughout Ice and Snow City in less than a day. Every last member of the Demon Race would know what happened here.
The other members of the Demon Race didn’t dare to challenge Lin Xuan either. Even those who had considered it, upon recalling the Illusion Technique that had ensnared Hei Qing, concluded that they wouldn’t be able to resist it.
So, they could only choose to discuss it amongst themselves from the sidelines, not daring to go down and face Lin Xuan in a fight.
Just then, Lin Xuan withdrew the souls he was using, leaving only a fragment of the Fox King’s soul to possess him, which maintained the aura of the Demon Fox Race. Fortunately, none of the Demon Race saw through his disguise. They still regarded him as one of the Demon Fox Race, just a rather peculiar one. It wasn’t that they were stupid. One look at Liu Yue’Er proved that. When she retracted her aura, she looked no different from a human, yet who would ever mistake her for one?
In truth, Liu Yue’Er couldn’t be considered a pure-blooded member of the Golden Dragon Race. She was of mixed human and dragon heritage—the Golden Dragon King’s wife was a human! That was why she only resembled a member of the Golden Dragon Race when she unleashed her aura. Otherwise, she looked completely human. In fact, she had only a few Dragon Scales hidden beneath her clothes. Without stripping her, one would never be able to tell.
This was unlike the pure-blooded members of the Black Dragon Race, whose bodies were covered in Black Dragon Scales even when their auras were contained, making them recognizable at a glance. Even though she was half-human and half-demon, no one would dare look down on Liu Yue’Er. After all, her power had been acknowledged; she was truly formidable.
Besides, the human woman the Golden Dragon King chose for a wife could not have been a weakling. In their eyes, a powerful human was no different from a Divine Beast. At that level, the human bloodline itself had changed, so a child born of such a union would naturally be a Heaven-Defying existence.
In other words, they didn’t consider powerful humans to be trash. Only such individuals were qualified to speak to them as equals.
’Phew, it’s finally over.’ His body swayed slightly. The toll that last battle had taken was immense. Fusing the three Core Formation Stage souls had pushed his body to its absolute limit.
He had done it all to create this Heaven-Defying effect. He didn’t mind being feared, but he had to do it to help Liu Yue’Er. He needed to utterly crush the Black Dragon Race and teach them their place!
If another member of the Black Dragon Race had taken the stage, he wouldn’t have been able to do the same. His remaining Elemental Power wouldn’t have been enough to support it. The Spiritual Power of the Black Dragon Race was just as formidable as he had expected. He had to unleash his full power to control them completely. If he had only used the Fox King’s Soul Possession, he could have confused them at best, but he would not have been able to achieve full control.
Lin Xuan’s Cultivation was simply too low. If it had been higher, the Fox King’s soul alone would have been enough to control them. Since his Cultivation was insufficient, he had to make up for it with the sheer level of his Realm.
"Yue’Er, you were too impulsive just now," Lin Xuan chided the moment he stepped off the Martial Arts Arena. "I know you’re angry and desperate for revenge, but that was far too reckless!"
Liu Yue’Er lowered her head. She knew she had let anger cloud her judgment. She wanted to argue, but when she saw the cold expression on Lin Xuan’s face, she didn’t dare say a word.
In her mind, Lin Xuan was practically a father figure to her, so of course she wouldn’t talk back when he scolded her. Especially since she knew she had been in the wrong. If she had been seriously injured, or even killed, her quest for revenge would have been over.
Seeing her tear-filled eyes, which held none of her earlier imposing aura, Lin Xuan reached out and ruffled Liu Yue’Er’s hair. He sighed and said, "I understand how you feel, but don’t forget you still have me, your brother. When it comes to revenge, I’m here to help you!"
"Mhm!" A smile blossomed on Liu Yue’Er’s face as she took Lin Xuan’s hand.
"You were really hard to find, you know," Lin Xuan sighed. "It’s a good thing I happened to find you here in Ice and Snow City. If you hadn’t been here, I really don’t know where else I would have looked."
"I couldn’t find you either, Brother. But then I remembered telling you that my people were hiding in the north, so I came here first." Liu Yue’Er’s logic had been the same as Lin Xuan’s: it was best to wait here. Although finding each other would still be difficult, it was better than running around aimlessly.
"So have you found any of your people yet?" Lin Xuan asked.
Liu Yue’Er shook her head. "No, I haven’t. My memories placed them in the northern region, but when I searched the area, I couldn’t find them... So I came to Ice and Snow City. I figured if I achieved enough here and made a name for myself, my people would surely send someone to find me."
Lin Xuan nodded. It was only natural that she couldn’t find them. The memories the Golden Dragon King had left her were from who-knows-how-many years ago. It was perfectly normal for them to have relocated. Liu Yue’Er’s current plan was sound: if she couldn’t find them, she would make the remaining members of the Golden Dragon Race come find her! Once her reputation spread, things would certainly become much easier.
"Do you have any other plans besides that?" Lin Xuan asked with a smile.
"I do!" Liu Yue’Er clenched her fists, her beautiful eyes shining with determination. "I’m going to get stronger here, win ten Ice and Snow Badges, and become the City Lord! But with you around, Brother, I guess I won’t be able to become the City Lord after all..." she added, not forgetting to flatter Lin Xuan a little.
Lin Xuan flicked her on the forehead and chided with a laugh, "You’re all talk. I’ve only just gotten my fourth badge. Who knows how long it’ll take to collect ten. Come on, let’s go get some rest. You need to recover from your injuries."
Liu Yue’Er agreed with Lin Xuan; her injuries were indeed severe. They left the Martial Arts Arena and walked to the Cultivation Site outside, which housed a recovery area. As they approached the entrance, a guard from the Black Tiger Race stopped them. "How may I help you two?" he asked.
"I’d like to use a Recovery Chamber," Liu Yue’Er answered bluntly.
"Please, follow me." The guard led them to a Recovery Chamber and said respectfully, "This is it. Please press your hand here to pay the required Points, and then you may enter to recover."
Lin Xuan looked at the patterns on the wall and understood that pressing one’s hand against them would spend the Points from their badge. Different amounts of Points allowed for different lengths of stay.
’This is truly something only a peerless powerhouse could have created. Everything operates according to their rules...’ Lin Xuan couldn’t help but shake his head, wondering what kind of being could have brought all this into existence.
