Chapter 60 – Battle of Furies – 2

Uruvi cast Rejuvenate as she took a quick glance at her screen. Her health had fallen below the halfway mark, and her MP was about 75 percent. ‘Alright. What new spells we got?’

“You have access to four new spells. Tidal Rupture, Riptide, Swirling Vortex, and Salt Breeze.”

Tidal Rupture – Create a shield and absorb damage for 5 seconds. The shield then explodes, delivering hydro damage to the opponent and the surrounding.

Riptide – A narrow but powerful current of water is unleashed in a single direction, delivering hydro damage

Swirling Vortex – A powerful whirlpool of water current pulls the opponents around it towards the center and delivers a small amount of hydro damage

Salt Breeze – Regain a small amount of health and clear any negative psychic conditions. Also, refresh stamina.

She noticed the 1-minute and 30-second cooldown on Tidal Rupture. ‘Whoa! That is a long cooldown!’

“Affirmative. The water element is tied to the sacral chakra. Your sacral chakra is currently at level 1. Increase Chakra level to reduce cooldown and mana cost of spells,” said Arya.

‘That is not happening anytime soon.’

She noticed Sashwat’s eyes shift to her right, drawing her attention to the pair of axes lying on the ground. ‘Need to keep them away from him.’

Just as she turned back towards him, she saw him whip his hand through the air. Three large arcs of wind, glowing a green hue, shot towards her. She quickly ducked underneath them as she lunged at the pair of blades.

Her right hand gripped the blade of her axe just as a boot slammed down onto the blades. She looked up and saw the smug smile on her opponent’s face as he looked down at her. She pulled her axe with all her might, hoping to yank his axe along with hers. Instead, she found herself pulled away by her axe, sending her tumbling on the ground.

‘Bastard removed his leg just before I pulled!’ She hopped back onto her feet and was greeted by a flurry of swings from her opponent. The ground was slick with water, but her shoes gripped the cement floor well enough for her to duck and dodge his attacks.

Red aura enveloped her, and her health dipped, while her speed shot up. She managed to match his speed, which let her parry and counterattack his swings. Sparks flew through the air as the blades clashed, some of which landed on the wooden countertop that was now covered with alcohol. The vapors ignited, and the fire quickly spread, engulfing the racks of alcohol bottles.

“Shit!” Uruvi cursed out loud as she was hit by a blast of hot air. She leapt away from the counter while Sashwat lunged in the opposite direction.

He swiped his hand through the air, sending a current of air through the flames. A large plume of fire shot towards her, enveloping her vision.

“Barricade!” she shouted, putting a shield just before the fire reached her. The invisible wall shuddered on impact, but did not break. But that safety did not last long. Blades of wind sliced through the smoke left behind by the fire and slammed into her shield, breaking it. ‘Let’s see how you like this!’ She slammed her hand onto the floor and said, “Riptide!”

A massive strip of water formed before her, and a powerful wave tore through the strip and headed straight towards Sashwat. He countered with ease, jumping into the air as he pulled his axe up over his head. The axe began to glow green as he brought it down towards the ground.

Uruvi, who stood a few feet away, watched as a massive blade of air, glowing green, shot out of the blade and came down on her. She leapt to her left in the nick of time as the blade of air sliced through anything and everything that stood in its path.

“Try this! Thunderclap!” She cried out in fury. The resulting ball of energy slammed into her opponent and the burning bar stand, resulting in a large fiery explosion.

A dark shadow leapt over the flames and came down onto her. She blocked his blade with her own as she watched him giggle like a madman.

“Now that is more like it!” he cried out loud. He slammed his leg into her chest, sending her flying through the standing door frame before chasing after her.

She somersaulted mid-air and landed her feet onto the adjacent wall before leaping at her charging opponent. She slammed her axe into him, but was blocked by his blade, which he used to throw her off him.

Her eyes shifted to his health bar, which was back full once again. ‘Back at full health? I must drain his MP before I finish my own.’

The two proceeded to exchange blows as they tried to chip away at each other’s health bar. Uruvi kept up with his speed, parrying and dodging his precise blows while she tried to take a swing at him whenever she could. She tried to string together a sequence of spells to beat him on speed, but that appeared to barely make a difference.

‘What the hell? Why isn’t he slowing down?’ She felt her muscles ache, and her skin began to burn while sweat poured down her forehead.

Sashwat’s grin widened while his relentless attacks continued to pick up speed. “Is that all? I am barely getting started!”

She felt her bile rise as anger flooded her chest. “Oh, fuck off! Tidal Rupture!” A powerful current of water formed below her, and a bubble enveloped her. He quickly leapt away, trying to put some distance between them. “Not so fast! Swirling Vortex!” The whirlpool beneath her widened and began to pull him toward her. The bubble popped, and a wave of water slammed into Sashwat, throwing him off her.

She slammed the axe head into the ground, using it to support herself as she gathered her breath back.

“Warning! MP below 10 percent,” said Arya.

‘Already!’ She watched her opponent get back up on his feet, dripping wet from her attack. A grim expression painted her face as her chest turned cold. ‘How the hell am I supposed to beat him now?’

He wiped the water off his face and said, “This water better not be coming from down there!”

Her grimace was replaced by disgust. “Eww! Asshole!”

Suddenly, her third eye opened, and a faint voice was heard. “There they are! Get them!”

They turned towards the origin of the sound and saw three men leap over a wall and dash towards them.

‘Who are these guys?’

Sashwat didn’t have time for questions. “Oh, fuck off, lowlifes!”

She saw him prepare to launch his wind blades at him when her mind went blank. “No! Riptide!” she shouted as she slammed her hand onto the ground. A strip of water formed before her, and a rush of water shot out and slammed into the goons.

The three men were thrown into the air and through the wall they had leapt over before crashing into the darkness.

A grimace appeared on her face as she watched her MP reach near zero. ‘What the hell? Why did I do that?’

Sashwat let out a scoff and said, “How noble of you.”

“New level attained. 5 Attribute points, 1 Skill point, and 1 Spell point available,” said Arya.

A wave of energy washed over Uruvi. Her body and mind felt revitalized, though the exhaustion persisted. ‘What? What happened?’ Her gaze shifted towards the broken wall. ‘I defeated them?’

“Affirmative. All three men are knocked out, thus earning you experience,” said Arya.

She turned back to Sashwat, whose grin now hid a hint of fury. Her recovery was clearly visible as the scuffs and wounds from their battle had vanished.

“So, you planned this all out, huh?” he said as he swung his axe around.

‘Bullshit.’ She wanted to laugh at her incredible luck. Her health pool and MP had been restored, but that didn’t make a difference. ‘What is the use anyway? He is beating me without using any spells. I am never going to win this battle.’

“Suggestion. I have a plan,” said Arya.

Uruvi was suddenly puzzled by Arya’s words. She had been used to its very particular speech, so much so that the mere change in vocabulary caught her off guard. ‘What… what is it?’ She asked politely.
