"That’s all. Sir Hal Fennec, your registration has been finalized," confirmed the female registration officer at Gaora City Hall. "Please follow the guidelines in this participant’s pamphlet to avoid any trouble during the tournament."
"Thank you." Hal gave a slight bow, retrieved his identification documents from the counter, and left the building with a smile on his face.
Today was the last day to confirm his registration.
Fortunately, although just barely, he managed to arrive in Gaora City on time.
That petty old man, who hadn’t allowed him to join the five-star students’ convoy, had just lost all of his respect.
Hal had to spend his own money and travel alone to the site of the Arcana Primis Cup’s Main Tournament, but at least the old man hadn’t gone back on his word and had agreed to a new arrangement that would benefit him greatly.
If Deputy Headmaster Korvus judged and treated a person solely by their potential and usefulness to the empire, then Hal would speak his language by winning the tournament and proving himself the most valuable among all the young competitors.
Seeing the old man struggle to act differently toward him afterward would be a sweet victory in Hal’s eyes.

So he checked the pamphlet as he walked back, temporarily setting aside his admiration for the city’s architecture and vibrance that he had enjoyed earlier on his way to the Gaora City Hall.
