Chapter 116 - 102: All Good Things Are Snatched
Right now, all he wanted to know was how to get back.
When he got back, he would pin Qiu Yuehan down in a room and demand she tell him exactly what was going on.
Lu Changyuan couldn’t help but ask, "Now that we’re returning to your clan, what are we going to do?"
Hearing this, the Nether Monarch turned and gave Lu Changyuan a dazzling smile.
It was an expression Qiu Yuehan would never make, but on this face, it was like a bewitching Other Shore Flower from the Netherworld had bloomed, breathtakingly captivating.
The Nether Monarch said, "To kill people."
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"This is where I’ll part ways with you."
Mei Zhaozhao said softly on the shore of the Sea of Void.
This Demoness from the Hehuan Sect was still shaken. A huge group of people had entered the Netherworld, but in the end, only the three of them... no, the two of them had made it out.
Su Youwan nodded in silence, then removed her Lotus Crown. It grew in the wind, transforming into a Lotus Platform.
Mei Zhaozhao asked curiously, "Are you returning to the Black Realm?"
"I’m going to the Daoist Sect."
The Sun Gnomon was still in Su Youwan’s hands, so she naturally had to make a trip to the Daoist Sect to give it to Xia Lianxue.
"Well, see you later then."
Mei Zhaozhao waved and left, heading into the distance without a hint of reluctance.
But a moment later, she flew back. Seeing that Su Youwan was still there, she added, "Um, about... about that Lu fellow. If he’s still alive, the next time you see him, remember to tell him he owes me a favor."
Su Youwan nodded, but what she said was, "You’re the one who owes him. If it weren’t for him, you would have died in the Netherworld."
"You!"
Mei Zhaozhao spun around and stormed off.
It wasn’t that she really wanted Lu Changyuan to owe her a favor.
She just wanted Su Youwan to remind Lu Changyuan that he knew a certain Mei Zhaozhao.
This Demoness of the Hehuan Sect was already convinced that Lu Changyuan was not only an absurdly strong man, but a soft-hearted one, too.
And soft-hearted men always have a weakness for women.
All it took was a little pouting and pressing her warm, alluring body against his, and a man like that would agree to help with anything.
Su Youwan had no idea what Mei Zhaozhao was thinking, and even if she did, she probably wouldn’t have cared.
She sat upon the Lotus Platform and sped toward the White Realm.
She no longer needed to carry her birdcage.
She had kept the birdcage thinking that, as a girl who would one day marry, it would eventually have its purpose. But now, her feelings had been devoured.
’So what now?’
Su Youwan couldn’t think of what to do for the moment. She would just have to take things one step at a time.
’I wonder what Young Master Lu will be like, now that he’s devoured my feelings. Will his mind be filled with thoughts of me?’
She pushed that matter aside for the time being.
There was another matter.
’Who am I, really?’
Su Youwan had almost never considered this question before. She was born in the Glazed Dynasty; her father was the Emperor, her mother a Concubine. Her father had since passed away from illness, and her mother had died long ago during a difficult childbirth.
It was all so clear.
She was undoubtedly a member of the Human Race, just born a little different from ordinary people.
That was what Su Youwan had always believed, but a scene she witnessed in the Netherworld had changed her mind.
The brilliance of that sword light, and the Celestial Dao that had been severed.
’What were her origins, really?’
The Lotus Platform flew nonstop through the air.
Su Youwan’s wounds had yet to fully heal, but she couldn’t worry about that now. She had to find her master and demand a clear answer.
The Lotus Platform shot across the sky at incredible speed. A few days later, Su Youwan arrived back at the Compassionate Temple just outside the Glazed Dynasty.
The dilapidated Compassionate Temple was still in disrepair.
In a few steps, the Silver-haired Maiden entered the temple. Inside the dust-filled Compassionate Temple, the statue of the Thousand-Handed Guanyin was as terrifying as ever.
Compared to her last visit, the cobwebs inside the Compassionate Temple were even worse. Dense webs seemed to have made a home within the temple, looking utterly unsettling.
Su Youwan furrowed her delicate brows and sighed.
A thought she had never had before surfaced in her mind. The maiden raised her hand, and a gust of wind swept through the entire Compassionate Temple, carrying the dust out with it.
Only then did Su Youwan’s brow relax.
"Master."
She stood before the Buddha Statue and channeled her Dao. Through the connection, the statue once again seemed to come to life, emitting a soft glow.
The maiden raised her head and, in a perfectly clear voice, enunciated each word: "Who am I?"
A long moment passed.
The maiden nodded.
Her master had merely replied that she was the Human Race’s Destined Celestial Dao.
In the past, she had thought this was just her master’s way of encouraging her to cultivate, to reach the Yao Guang realm as quickly as possible so she could shoulder the future of the Compassionate Palace. But now, hearing it again, the words took on a completely different meaning.
"Master, my feelings were eaten by Lu Changyuan... No, I should say, while he was under the Desire Demon’s control, he devoured them."
The maiden lowered her eyes. After a moment, she looked up, somewhat surprised.
’Her master just asked if she had anyone she wanted to marry now.’
"No... I can’t say there’s no one. It’s just that I still don’t quite understand... liking versus loving... Will I understand in the future?"
Su Youwan severed the connection with the Buddha Statue.
Her master’s condition wasn’t good; it was best to trouble her as little as possible.
The maiden walked out of the Compassionate Temple, but the questions in her heart hadn’t lessened in the slightest; on the contrary, they had multiplied.
’I should go home and have a look.’
The thought appeared in her heart abruptly; she had never had such an inclination before.
Sighing, Su Youwan decided to rest in the Glazed Dynasty for a few days before heading to the Daoist Sect, using the time to recuperate.
Winter was approaching.
And so, the people of the Dynasty had put on their thicker clothes.
Su Youwan glanced down at herself from the sky. She wore a pale blue and white Daoist robe, the same one she wore through all four seasons.
Cultivators were impervious to heat and cold, and she certainly didn’t look like a young maiden in the prime of her youth.
