Are There Only Demonesses Left in the Cultivation Realm?

Chapter 102 - 95: The River That Roars Through Heaven and Earth

The wind roared past their ears.

A black mire continuously formed in their wake.

Lu Changyuan and Mei Zhaozhao’s figures shot out from the darkness.

"What are our chances? I’m still young, I don’t want to die."

The two were, in fact, already on their way to West City.

Lu Changyuan’s voice cut through the wind. "Are you asking about beating Xiao Qingfeng or finding the Nether Monarch?"

Mei Zhaozhao’s hope flared. "Can we beat Xiao Qingfeng? I just knew you were amazing."

"Impossible. He has the Yao Guang Technique. He’s a true Yao Guang now, no longer on the same level as a Kai Yang."

’So I have to find a way to strip him of the Yao Guang Technique.’

"Then what are you talking about? What about finding the Nether Monarch?"

"Less than ten percent."

Mei Zhaozhao didn’t find this Qiu Yuehan-style joke very funny. Clenching her teeth, she asked, "Then can the Little Ancestor from the Compassionate Palace hold out?"

Lu Changyuan shook his head again, Su Youwan’s birdcage in his hand. "I don’t know. That’s why we have to be fast."

Su Youwan had forged a deep enough connection with Lu Changyuan; the young woman had essentially entrusted her heart to him, using this bond to exchange her life for his.

This would only last for one hour.

Otherwise, the moment Lu Changyuan left the small courtyard, Xiao Qingfeng would have discovered him, and this fight would have been impossible from the start.

"It seems I can communicate with these Spirits. I sent them to help her."

Mei Zhaozhao said as they hurried on.

Back in Lu Changyuan’s small house, she had finally figured out the special privilege the Nether Monarch had temporarily granted her.

Because she had a Spirit Communication Body, and with the Nether Monarch’s permission, she could now command the Nether Monarch’s Spirits to a certain extent.

Lu Changyuan nodded.

He suddenly stopped in his tracks.

A massive fissure split the ground before them, and an inhuman creature crawled out.

It was a colossal lizard with rocks fused to its back, its forked scarlet tongue flicking.

Mei Zhaozhao couldn’t help but exclaim, "What is that?"

Lu Changyuan narrowed his eyes. "I don’t recognize it either. It must be a monster created by Xiao Qingfeng using the Transformation Method."

The ground of the Netherworld was scarred with deep tracks from the giant lizard. Every one of its movements seemed to be accompanied by the tremors of shattering rock.

"Here it comes!"

Despite its size, the giant lizard charged at Lu Changyuan with astonishing speed, then spat out a cloud of foul-smelling gas.

Mei Zhaozhao waved her hand, summoning several Spirits. But before they could even fully materialize, the giant lizard savagely devoured them all.

"Watch out!"

Lu Changyuan shot forward like an arrow released from a bow, weaving between the broken stones and leaving a trail of afterimages.

The giant lizard roared. It raised a forelimb powerful enough to crush a city wall and slammed it down with a whistling gale. The instant its claw was about to touch Lu Changyuan’s head, he sidestepped and twisted his wrist. His sword, Broken Thought, traced a cold gleam of light, but the blade only scraped against the lizard’s rock-like body, leaving a shower of sparks.

CLANG!

The sound of metal striking stone was deafening.

’So hard.’

The force of the impact transmitted through the sword tip made Lu Changyuan’s arm go numb.

Lu Changyuan had not yet entered the Fifth Realm, after all. Broken Thought lacked killing power against this kind of physical monster.

So Lu Changyuan changed his sword form.

Bai Cang!

The Autumn Sword thrust precisely toward the giant lizard’s eye.

The blade hummed. Black blood coated Broken Thought as Lu Changyuan pulled it free.

The giant lizard let out a roar mixed with pain and fury that made the very air tremble. Its massive tail, covered in jagged stone spikes, swept toward him like a gray hurricane.

Not only that, but a shadow suddenly fell over Lu Changyuan as a piercing shriek tore through the air.

A monstrous bird with three huge, fleshy wings swooped down. It flapped its grotesque wings madly, slinging off the viscous, scarlet drops of blood that clung to them. A bloody rain fell, blanketing everything.

Lu Changyuan’s pupils shrank. He shot backward, but even so, the gale from the tip of the lizard’s tail still tore his robes, leaving a shallow, bloody gash on his waist.

The bloody rain from above splattered onto his left hand, quickly corroding away a patch of skin and flesh.

"I’ll summon more Spirits!"

Mei Zhaozhao had just started to act when her senses violently reeled, forcing her to leap away from her spot.

The very next instant—

BOOM!

A colossal fist, powerful enough to shatter everything, slammed down right in front of her.

"What is that thing!?"

Mei Zhaozhao shrieked. Turning her head, she saw a headless humanoid figure, like some inanimate object, emerge from the darkness.

It simply raised its arm, as thick as a temple pillar, once more. The movement was stiff yet unbelievably fast. Accompanied by a dull, heart-stopping whoosh, it threw another punch! No technique, no variation—only the purest, most savage, absolute power!

"Physician Lu, hurry up and think of something."

"What other way is there?" Lu Changyuan said, Broken Thought held behind his back. "We can’t get tied down by these monsters. They were brought into being by Xiao Qingfeng’s Transformation Method. Even if we kill them, they’ll just revive."

Just like Wang Lian and Xiao Hai, whom they had killed before.

But these monsters had Lu Changyuan and Mei Zhaozhao completely surrounded, making it incredibly difficult to get past them.

Lu Changyuan stomped his foot, shot forward like an arrow from a bow, swept up Mei Zhaozhao, and then charged straight ahead.

The border between the two cities was still some distance away.

’I can’t get bogged down here.’

But things rarely go as planned. A cold, sinister wind swept in from the side. A giant python had been hiding in the shadows on the ground, and as Lu Changyuan passed, it lunged, its foul-smelling maw and sharp fangs on full display.

"We’re going to die, we’re going to die, we’re going to die!"

"Quiet." Lu Changyuan raised Broken Thought. Using Mei Zhaozhao’s body as a springboard, he launched himself into the air, kicked the snake’s head aside, and brought Broken Thought down through the top of its skull.
