Chapter 357: The Lv Family
The intense pain and his ebbing life were a constant torment, forcing him to play his family card in a desperate bid to save himself.
"The Lv Family? Heh. You think I'd fall for that?"
Lin Feng laughed.
It was the same sickening speech all over again. Every single one of those clan members he'd killed had said the same thing. And in the end? Hadn't he wiped them all out regardless?
And now Lv Jian was trying the same trick. Wasn't this a clear sign that if he didn't finish the job now, he could forget about ever having a moment's peace?
Lv Jian was stunned for a moment, but he quickly composed himself. "If you know what's good for you, get lost now. I won't hold injuring me against you. I can pretend this never happened. Otherwise..."
He stared at Lin Feng, his eyes narrowed to slits. His tone was level, but inside, he was consumed by hatred. 'Once I get out of this,' he thought, 'I'll make this damn brat die a horrible death.'
"You talk too much."
But Lin Feng just chuckled, unwilling to waste any more words. He swung his blade, slitting Lv Jian's throat. Blood instantly sprayed through the air!
Since the man was asking to die, Lin Feng saw no reason to be polite. He finished him off to prevent any future trouble.
"You... How could you..."
Clutching the fatal wound on his neck, Lv Jian slowly crumpled to the ground, his eyes wide with disbelief. He couldn't accept, even in death, that Lin Feng had been so decisive as to just kill him on the spot.
Without a moment's hesitation, Lin Feng strode over to Lv Jian's corpse, crouched down, and began to search it.
Usually, Elders and disciples from these Hidden Clans carried items that were difficult to find in the Mortal Realm.
But after searching him, he discovered that Lv Jian's so-called "treasure" was nothing more than a few low-grade Spirit Stones.
There was nothing else. The haul was far worse than Lin Feng had anticipated.
'Oh well, it's better than nothing.'
After confirming the area was safe, Lin Feng didn't rush to leave. Instead, he pulled out the Golden Needles embedded in his chest and the back of his neck.
"Cough, cough!"
The moment he pulled the Golden Needles out, Lin Feng coughed violently. The healthy color drained from his face, leaving it pale, and his upright posture slackened.
Mustering his remaining strength, he staggered to a nearby tree and slowly sat down, leaning against its trunk.
'Hahh... As I thought, using acupoint stimulation to temporarily boost my combat strength is just too dangerous.'
Lin Feng took a deep breath and slowly closed his eyes. He knew he had just used a special secret technique recorded in the Supreme Profound Medical Scripture.
The technique forcefully stimulated his body's potential, tripling his strength for a short time, but the consequences were severe.
It damaged his body's foundation and could even affect his future cultivation talent. But today, he'd had no other choice.
Feeling the weakness and numbness spreading through his body, Lin Feng shook his head with a wry, helpless smile.
But he wasn't the type to dwell on gains and losses. Since he'd done it, he wouldn't overthink it. 'I'll just have to recover later.'
With that thought, Lin Feng let out a long breath. He focused his mind and began to slowly circulate the last vestiges of Inner Strength within his body to begin healing.
...
A night passed. Lin Feng finally stirred and slowly opened his eyes. He looked around; the gloomy darkness of the previous night was gone.
In its place, sunlight bathed the area, and the air was crisp and fresh. Even something so simple felt incredibly pleasant and comforting.
Aside from Lv Jian's corpse lying nearby, which soured the mood, everything else was quite nice.
'My stamina is mostly recovered.'
'I'm still a long way from a full recovery, but at least now I have the ability to protect myself.'
Slowly clenching his fist, feeling some of his strength return, Lin Feng began to form a plan.
He obviously couldn't stay here forever. He'd only remained overnight because his body had been too weak to move.
Now that he had recovered somewhat, he needed to get back to the hotel as quickly as possible.
Not only did he need to refine some Healing Elixirs, but he also had to ask Black Rose or Murong Qian what the deal was with this Lv Family!
...
"The Lv Family?"
"They actually sent someone to kill you?"
In a luxurious room, Murong Qian took a delicate sip of tea, looking at the impassive Lin Feng across from her with some surprise.
"That's right. I'd never even heard of this so-called Lv Family before."
Lin Feng nodded. He found it strange, too. Where had this Lv Family come from, and why would they target him?
"That is strange, indeed."
"The Lv Family is a Hidden Clan from over in Mountain City. They've been around for quite some time and are considered one of the higher-ranking families there."
"Also, it's rumored that the reason they were able to become a Hidden Clan is that they have a hidden sect backing them."
Murong Qian explained the basics of the Lv Family's situation, and Lin Feng's brow furrowed deeper as he listened.
"Since the Lv Family has already made a move, what do you plan to do next, Boss Lin?"
Murong Qian looked at Lin Feng with concern. She could tell that he had made a serious enemy of the Lv Family this time, and they wouldn't let the matter rest.
"We'll deal with them as they come. Regardless of how powerful the Lv Family is, we need to leave this place as soon as possible."
Hearing Murong Qian's concern, Lin Feng just waved his hand dismissively.
A second-rate Hidden Clan that could only throw its weight around in a single city was nothing he'd lose sleep over.
"Mm, you're right. Well then, Boss Lin, please make yourself at home. Let me know if you need anything at all."
Murong Qian nodded lightly. After all, her relationship with Lin Feng had already been established, so naturally, she didn't want anything to happen to him.
...
Meanwhile, at the Lv Family estate, things were anything but calm.
The Lv Family was a hegemon in Mountain City. While they weren't a top-tier power, they were absolutely an existence that no one in the city dared to provoke lightly.
"What did you say? Elder Lv Jian is dead?!"
In an antique-style study, a young man in a green robe shot up from his chair. His gaze was glacial, and a biting chill radiated from his body.
"Reporting to the Young Master... y-yes."
"I waited all night at the designated location yesterday, but Elder Lv Jian never appeared. I fear the Elder has already..."
Kneeling before the young man, a middle-aged steward spoke, his legs trembling and his forehead beaded with cold sweat.
CRACK!
