Chapter 306: The Subordinate
The young woman said earnestly.
"Alright."
Lin Feng shrugged. He planned on boosting the girl's strength later anyway. 'How else is she supposed to protect Su Yanxue when I'm busy?'
"Alright. A promise is a promise. I hope you don't go back on your word. Otherwise, I'd rather die right here."
The young woman seemed to have made her decision. She stared at Lin Feng, enunciating every word, "From this day forward, I am your subordinate!"
Lin Feng gave the young woman a cool glance. "Alright, enough. Get to it. Take me to my wife."
"Ah… oh, okay."
The change was so sudden that the young woman didn't react at first. After a second's pause, she started walking ahead.
"By the way, what's your name?"
After taking a couple of steps, Lin Feng suddenly thought of something and asked.
"I grew up in the Blood Robe Tower. I don't have a name, only a codename: An Mei!"
An Mei said without turning her head.
"An Mei… That name suits you. Not bad."
Lin Feng muttered to himself, committing her name to memory.
The two traveled together, and in just ten minutes, they were back in the deepest part of the dilapidated factory.
"Miss Su is right here."
Lin Feng stepped inside the factory. The first thing he saw was an iron chair. Seated on it was a girl in a white dress, her long black hair spilling down. It was Su Yanxue!
Lin Feng's pupils contracted sharply!
Su Yanxue was still unconscious. Although she was clean, there were faint tear stains on her face.
"You bunch of bastards!"
At the sight, Lin Feng's eyes narrowed, a cold glint flashing within them!
"Rest assured, Miss Su wasn't abused."
Seeing Lin Feng's rage, An Mei instinctively shivered.
After all, Lin Feng hadn't been this furious even when they were fighting to the death just moments ago. But the cold intent now radiating from him terrified even a seasoned assassin like her.
"I was the strongest person on this operation."
"So, the job of guarding Miss Su fell to me. She was frightened, but no one laid a finger on her."
An Mei's voice trembled slightly, but she still forced herself to explain.
Lin Feng took a deep breath to calm himself. He then looked at Su Yanxue, and only after confirming she was largely unharmed did he finally relax.
"Let's go."
Lin Feng untied the ropes binding Su Yanxue and lifted her into his arms. With a wave for An Mei to follow, he headed for the door.
Just then, Su Yanxue began to stir. When she opened her eyes and saw Lin Feng, a look of joy spread across her pretty face, and she quickly cried out.
"Lin Feng!"
With that, she struggled to get up, only to find her arms numb and sore, completely lacking strength.
"How are you?"
Lin Feng frowned, reached out, and helped Su Yanxue to her feet.
Su Yanxue's body was limp, and she looked utterly pitiable. She looked at Lin Feng, her eyes welling with tears.
Lin Feng sighed at the sight. He patted her shoulder comfortingly. "It's okay. It's all over now."
Hearing Lin Feng's voice, Su Yanxue gradually stopped crying. She looked at him and couldn't stop herself from throwing herself into his arms, whimpering, "Lin Feng, thank you for saving me."
"What's there to thank me for? You're my wife. I'm just fulfilling my promise to keep you safe."
Lin Feng gently stroked her soft hair as he spoke.
Hearing Lin Feng's promise, a warmth spread through Su Yanxue's heart and she slowly regained her composure. It was only then that she noticed An Mei staring intently at her from the side. Blushing with embarrassment, she asked.
"Lin Feng, who is this?"
Hearing Su Yanxue's question, Lin Feng smiled slightly.
"Her? She's the personal bodyguard I found for you!"
Su Yanxue was taken aback by his words and looked at An Mei in surprise.
'An Mei was breathtakingly beautiful, but she radiated a cold, sinister aura. An icy beauty like her, willingly serving as a bodyguard for Lin Feng? She found it hard to believe.'
"Hello. I'm An Mei. I'll be your personal bodyguard from now on."
An Mei met Su Yanxue's gaze and introduced herself. Her voice was cold and clear, like ancient, unmeltable ice—utterly intimidating!
"Uh… hello. I'm Su Yanxue. It's a pleasure to meet you."
Su Yanxue gave a slightly stiff smile. Looking at An Mei, she couldn't help but feel a little afraid. 'This woman is as cold as ice.'
Lin Feng scanned the area. The factory was deserted, save for Su Yanxue, who had been tied to a chair.
"Did you send everyone else away?"
Lin Feng looked at An Mei.
"No."
An Mei shook her head. "You already killed everyone else."
She said this nonchalantly, as if killing people was as simple as eating a meal or drinking water.
"…"
The corner of Lin Feng's mouth twitched. He glanced at Su Yanxue and saw that her expression was also a little odd. 'Is she calling me out?'
"COUGH, COUGH!"
Lin Feng coughed to cover his awkwardness. After a moment's thought, he continued, "Let's head back to the hotel after we leave here."
Su Yanxue nodded obediently. Lin Feng was the only one she could rely on. If he said they should find a place to settle down first, she would do as he said.
"First, let's buy a change of clothes and some daily necessities. Then we'll go back and I'll check you over."
Lin Feng led Su Yanxue by the hand as they walked outside.
"Wait, I need a car."
Lin Feng stopped and turned his head to ask An Mei.
"What kind of car do you want? I'll figure something out."
An Mei said without hesitation.
Lin Feng paused, surprised, and looked at the woman who had just pledged herself to him.
"You have a way to get a car?"
An Mei, in turn, was surprised by Lin Feng's stunned expression.
"Well, isn't it simple to just pick a lock and hot-wire a car?"
Lin Feng blinked. He looked at An Mei with a helpless expression. "Do you really not know how laws work in the secular world?"
An Mei: "…"
"Never mind. I'll figure something out myself."
Lin Feng waved his hand dismissively, deciding not to bother with An Mei any further. He walked straight toward the local auto mall.
An Mei stood frozen, watching Lin Feng's receding figure, an unfamiliar feeling of frustration welling up inside her.
'This guy... He's absurdly strong, arrogant, has a rotten personality, and even likes to take advantage of people. A man like that…'
An Mei gritted her teeth as she watched him walk away, secretly vowing to get stronger as soon as possible. When that day came, she would get her revenge on that bastard.
...
For Martial Artists like Lin Feng and An Mei, both at the Late Stage of Innate, a distance of over ten kilometers was merely a ten-minute journey.
By the time the moon had risen, they were already back at the hotel.
"Go get a room for yourself. I'll call you if anything comes up."
