The Capital's Dragon Doctor

Chapter 252: Rest

Without hesitation, he turned back and dealt a final blow to the still-unconscious Du Wen, ensuring his death. Then, he turned, randomly opened the door to another room, and went inside.

He wasn't sure if more enemies would appear soon, so he certainly wasn't going to return to his own room.

After all, that would only put Su Yanxue in greater danger.

He slid open the door to a random room and sat cross-legged on the bed. He knew his current situation was dire. Even though he had finished off Du Wen, he felt not an ounce of joy.

He needed to rest and let his injuries heal. At least until they did, he had no way of fighting an Ancient Martial Artist of the Innate stage.

He mobilized the Inner Strength within his Dantian and began the slow process of healing. The recent battle had consumed too much of his energy. Now, the meridians throughout his body were throbbing, some with a dull, persistent ache.

The previous fight had pushed his body to its absolute limit. He was running on sheer willpower alone. If he let that resolve slacken for even a moment, he would be truly finished.

But as he was meditating to heal his wounds, he was unaware of a pair of beautiful eyes that flickered for a moment outside his room before disappearing.

......

The next morning, Lin Feng slowly opened his eyes. The previous night's frenzied battle had left him exhausted, but it had also brought considerable rewards. A fight like that had given him a new appreciation for his own power and speed.

He now believed that even an Ancient Martial Artist at the Late Stage of Innate might not be his match. However, actually defeating a Martial Artist of that level would depend on his own skill and a bit of luck.

After slowly getting up and washing his face, Lin Feng pushed the door open and stepped out. He hadn't rested for long, but he felt much more refreshed.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK...

The sound of knocking came from the door, followed by a staff member's voice from outside.

"Sir, your breakfast is ready."

Lin Feng wasn't surprised by this.

This auction was, after all, co-hosted by several factions with ties to hidden sects. It wouldn't be difficult for them to know his location.

When he stepped out and looked around, sure enough, the hallway had been cleaned spotless. The body and blood were completely gone, as if nothing had ever happened.

Lin Feng paid it no mind and started walking downstairs. He looked nothing like the wretched figure he'd cut yesterday. Dressed in a black suit, he appeared handsome and dashing, with an impressive bearing.

Furthermore, his chiseled features gave him a distinctly masculine air, enough that most women would give him a second glance.

He didn't waste any time; his first priority was finding Su Yanxue.

'I fought a bloody battle all last night. Even though I left some minor protective measures behind when I left, Su Yanxue is ultimately just an ordinary person. Her safety is what's most important.'

"Brother Lin, I'm over here!"

As soon as he reached the second floor, he saw Su Yanxue's lovely figure standing at the end of the hallway, waving to him.

The corners of Lin Feng's mouth lifted into a slight smile as he quickened his pace toward her. But just as he was about to reach Su Yanxue, an incomparably sharp killing intent locked onto him.

Lin Feng frowned slightly but didn't break his stride. He could already smell the thick stench of blood, accompanied by a faint murderous aura that was growing increasingly palpable.

Lin Feng's gaze followed the direction of the bloody scent, and a figure dressed in black appeared in his line of sight.

It was a man, holding a pitch-black Short Blade in a two-handed grip. Tucked into his belt was a dark dagger, its surface still speckled with red droplets.

Upon seeing the sudden appearance of the man in black, Lin Feng's pupils contracted. An incredibly potent killing intent erupted from him in an instant. The aura, like a tidal wave, made the people nearby feel as though they were suffocating.

'Peak of Mid-Stage Innate. Not bad.'

Lin Feng squinted at the man in black as the information registered in his mind.

The man in black made no move, simply watching Lin Feng silently. His face was deathly pale, and a vicious light glinted in his narrow eyes.

"Who are you?"

Lin Feng asked after a moment of silence.

"Hmph. Kid, you should know why I'm here. My name is Li Zhi. Remember it, because if you don't hand over the Purple Reishi, you'll be leaving as a corpse."

Li Zhi snorted, his tone utterly sinister.

Lin Feng said nothing, merely giving him a detached glance before turning to walk toward Su Yanxue. This made Li Zhi's eyes burn with even greater malice.

Li Zhi watched Lin Feng's back, his fists clenched so tightly they creaked, but in the end, he restrained himself.

After all, it was daytime, and according to the unwritten rules, fighting was forbidden. Besides, Lin Feng's cultivation level was not low. If Li Zhi dared to attack rashly, he would be getting himself into serious trouble.

Lin Feng paid Li Zhi no more mind. Right now, he just wanted to make sure Su Yanxue was unharmed.

"Brother Lin, this is our breakfast."

Su Yanxue walked over, carrying a breakfast tray. Seeing Lin Feng's haggard expression, her heart filled with guilt.

Last night, Lin Feng had risked his life to save her, and today he looked so worn out. She felt she had wronged him terribly.

"Have you eaten yet?"

Lin Feng asked simply as he took the food.

"Mhm, I just finished."

Su Yanxue replied obediently.

Lin Feng smiled, nodded, and resumed eating.

But Lin Feng ate with incredible speed, finishing his food in just a few quick bites.

"Brother Lin, why do you eat so fast?"

Su Yanxue asked, puzzled.

"Just a habit."

Lin Feng smiled and shook his head. He'd been forced to practice martial arts since he was a child, so he'd always eaten quickly. For him, it was a matter of efficiency.

After breakfast, Lin Feng went shopping with Su Yanxue.

They strolled around for a while and bought quite a few gifts. Although they were both Martial Artists, they cherished moments of ordinary life like this.

By the time they had finished picking out gifts, it was already three in the afternoon. Lin Feng raised his wrist, glanced at his watch, and said, "Let's go, time to head back to the hotel."

Su Yanxue gave Lin Feng a small nod, and the two of them walked back toward the hotel hand in hand.

......

Meanwhile, about a hundred meters away from them, three or four black Audis were parked.

The car windows were down, revealing several bodyguards in black sitting inside, their expressions grim. Their eyes were locked on Su Yanxue and Lin Feng, like predators waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
