The Capital's Dragon Doctor

Chapter 249: A Draw?

He was exploiting this slight advantage, and in the resulting stalemate, the two could be considered evenly matched.

But he knew Lin Feng was building up his power, so he had to finish him off quickly. Otherwise, he feared his chances of survival today were slim.

With this in mind, Du Wen flipped into the air. His body was as light as a swallow's as he bounded toward Lin Feng, ready to kill.

BANG!

The Short Blade in his hand danced, its edge shimmering with a faint blue light, like the flicking tongue of a venomous snake. Each thrust created a dazzling "sword flower."

Lin Feng, however, just snorted coldly. He threw a punch straight at Du Wen's chest, the fist whistling through the air with a piercing force.

When Du Wen saw Lin Feng's punch, he was inwardly alarmed. 'This guy's speed and power have increased again!' Lin Feng's progress was astounding.

CLANG!

Du Wen dodged Lin Feng's attacks, weaving through his onslaught. This time, Lin Feng didn't meet him head-on.

He knew his own body was tough, but Du Wen's was even tougher. Neither of them could gain an advantage over the other. If this kept up, their stamina would be nearly depleted, and that would mean a true defeat.

Du Wen's assault gradually grew more frenzied. The Short Blade in his hand flashed brilliantly in the sunlight, seeming almost alive.

It darted about nimbly in his grip, making it difficult for Lin Feng to keep up his defense.

Lin Feng tapped his toes on the ground and once again launched a straight punch at Du Wen. But Du Wen saw it coming, ducked slightly, and sidestepped the blow.

Then, with Inner Strength coiling around his arm, he swung viciously at Lin Feng's throat. He was so fast he closed the distance in the blink of an eye.

CLANG!

Seeing Du Wen's attack, Lin Feng condensed a protective aura around his body and met the Short Blade head-on. A crisp clang of metal on metal rang out across the entire fighting stage.

Stagger, stagger, stagger...

Du Wen staggered back five or six steps before managing to steady himself. He stared at Lin Feng, his eyes filled with shock. He had used his full strength, yet he hadn't harmed Lin Feng in the slightest.

Lin Feng stood his ground, motionless. A mocking smile touched his lips as he looked at Du Wen. As insidious and cunning as Du Wen was, he was simply no match for him.

Lin Feng's eyes narrowed. His body suddenly spun, and he lunged straight for Du Wen. He had to seize this chance to cripple him in one fell swoop.

Du Wen's expression changed. He finally understood that he had met his match. Unwilling to show weakness, he twisted his body to face Lin Feng's charge.

BANG!

Their fists and claws clashed once more. This time, however, Du Wen came out on the losing end. The sheer force of Lin Feng's power exceeded his expectations, and more importantly, Lin Feng was so fast that Du Wen couldn't track his movements.

Lin Feng's attacks grew even more ferocious, a flurry of fists and kicks. Du Wen could only struggle to defend himself. His mind began racing. 'If this continues,' he thought, 'I'm bound to lose.'

'The best option now is to fight defensively, slow Lin Feng down, and wait for a chance to counterattack. But that would take too long. Lin Feng's attacks are too sharp and overwhelming; that's what I'm most afraid of.'

'So I have to change my strategy. As long as I can wait until Lin Feng's stamina runs out, I can take him down.'

This would greatly increase his odds of winning. So, he began to constantly dodge, counterattacking whenever he saw an opening, but he was barely holding on.

Seeing Du Wen's wretched state as he constantly dodged, Lin Feng frowned. He could sense that Du Wen was trying to stall for time, but he had no intention of giving him that chance.

'If you won't make the first move, then I'll just have to strike first.' At this thought, Lin Feng's eyes lit up. With a flick of his wrist, several silver needles shot out.

The silver needles flew toward Du Wen in a triangular formation. But a slight smile touched Du Wen's lips. He spun rapidly, his dagger drawing a circle in the air. A strange ripple of energy appeared, deflecting the needles.

WHOOSH!

One after another, the silver needles were deflected, but a few still managed to hit Du Wen. His face turned pale. He had to admit, Lin Feng had played that move beautifully.

'This kid... he's a master of hidden weapons, too?'

Quickly pulling the silver needles from his body, Du Wen's murky eyes filled with shock and uncertainty. He never imagined that besides his astonishing strength, Lin Feng's skill with hidden weapons was also masterful.

But a moment later, a savage grin spread across his face. Lin Feng's complexion was now deathly pale; clearly, throwing those needles had consumed a great deal of his energy. In this condition, even if Lin Feng didn't die, it would be impossible for him to win.

Seeing Du Wen's savage expression, Lin Feng's eyes turned cold. 'Looks like he still thinks he's got this in the bag. Since you're asking for a beating, I'll be happy to oblige.'

SWISH!

Lin Feng's fingers danced in the air, and in an instant, thirty or forty tiny flying needles materialized around him. They glittered in the sunlight like stars in the night sky, their heart-stopping whistle cutting through the air.

SWOOSH!

All thirty or forty flying needles shot toward Du Wen. His face paled in terror, but he was a veteran, after all. He moved in a flash, simultaneously brandishing his Short Blade to block the shower of needles.

PING PING PING...

The dense chorus of metallic impacts was deafening. This time, he managed to block every single one of Lin Feng's needles. But just as he let his guard down, Lin Feng's fist was already in his face.

BAM!

Lin Feng's fist slammed viciously into Du Wen's abdomen. With a muffled grunt, Du Wen was sent flying backward, landing heavily at the other end of the hallway.

*Spit!*

A mouthful of fresh blood sprayed from his lips. Du Wen glared at Lin Feng with hatred, a clear red mark already visible on his stomach.

The spot was already caving in. The power of Lin Feng's punch had been immense, and Du Wen was now paying the price.

"Lin Feng, you dare launch a sneak attack!"

Du Wen roared in fury, but a tearing pain ripped through his abdomen. He then saw spots of blood seeping through his clothes. Lin Feng's last punch had broken his ribs.

"You despicable bastard! You dare use a sneak attack! I'll cut you into a thousand pieces!"

Du Wen raged. Lin Feng's strength should have been far beneath his own; logically, he shouldn't possess such formidable power. But now, he had well and truly lost.

Moreover, the excruciating pain from his abdomen was severely weakening his ability to fight.
