The Capital's Dragon Doctor

Chapter 242: No Escape

"Die!"

With a great roar, Du Wen swung his palms, unleashing a surging wave of air that swept toward Lin Feng.

Du Wen had put his full power into this strike. He was certain that this time, Lin Feng would have nowhere to run.

"Heh heh, kid. There's no way you can block this move."

A cruel smile hung on the corner of his lips. In his eyes, Lin Feng was as good as dead.

WHOOSH!

The wave of air billowed forward. Du Wen wore a savage grin, certain his strike would be a one-hit kill.

But in the next second, the smile on his face froze.

He saw that Lin Feng hadn't even tried to dodge or block. He hadn't even drawn a weapon.

He let the wave of air slam into his chest, yet his body didn't move an inch. He had withstood Du Wen's full-power attack with nothing but his physical body.

Du Wen's face was a mask of shock. He stared at the scene in disbelief, unable to accept that Lin Feng had resisted his attack with his body alone—and emerged completely unscathed.

The sheer power of Lin Feng's physical body terrified Du Wen. He had never seen a body of this caliber.

"Impossible!"

Du Wen growled through gritted teeth, his figure shooting toward Lin Feng. He balled his large hands into fists and began pummeling him. Each punch made the air tremble, producing a series of muffled sonic booms.

Lin Feng remained calm and composed. He moved his feet, dodging Du Wen's attacks while looking for an opportunity to land his own devastating blow.

"Damn it! How is this possible?"

Du Wen was furious. Lin Feng's cultivation realm was clearly lower than his, so why did he possess such a formidable body and such quick reflexes?

Lin Feng easily dodged his attacks, constantly searching for an opening.

The two figures shifted, weaving together like phantoms.

BANG!

Seizing an opportunity, Lin Feng flickered in front of Du Wen and whipped a roundhouse kick into his chest.

CRACK.

The sharp sound of breaking bones echoed as Du Wen was sent flying backward. A section of his chest had caved in, and he was continuously spitting up blood.

"Cough, cough."

Du Wen clutched his chest, coughing up mouthfuls of blood. He struggled to his feet. His eyes were filled with deep apprehension; the disdain in his gaze was gone, replaced by solemn gravity.

'Du Wen's mind was in turmoil. Lin Feng's strength far exceeded his expectations.'

"Damn it!"

'Du Wen was furious. He never imagined that his usually foolproof sneak attack would fail to harm Lin Feng. It was utterly humiliating.'

"Did you really think I was a pushover?"

Lin Feng spoke indifferently. He began walking toward Du Wen, and a murderous aura filled the air.

"Arrogant whelp, don't get cocky! Watch me tear you to shreds!"

Enraged, Du Wen stomped his foot on the ground, instantly leaping up and lashing out with a roundhouse kick.

"Hmph!"

But Lin Feng's speed and reflexes were also extremely fast. Like a bolt of lightning, he instantly collided with Du Wen's leg.

BANG!

A dull thud echoed as they were both knocked back several meters. Lin Feng shook his numb arms, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.

'This Du Wen really lives up to his name as a Peak of Mid-Stage Innate Ancient Martial Artist. His physical strength is astonishing.'

'Lin Feng had used nearly all his strength in that last exchange, yet he only managed to fight Du Wen to a standstill. This was a bit of a surprise. It seems he'll have to get serious.'

"Haha."

"Your combat experience is certainly rich, but your strength is still a bit lacking!"

Seeing Lin Feng at a disadvantage, Du Wen laughed triumphantly. He assumed Lin Feng had underestimated him, thinking he hadn't been using his full power, and now Lin Feng was paying the price.

Du Wen felt immense satisfaction. He shouted, "Kid, prepare to die!"

Then he closed the distance, his right leg whipping toward Lin Feng's head.

"This attack of yours is only about on par with my own."

Lin Feng spoke calmly. Facing Du Wen's attack, he chose not to block it head-on. He ducked under the blow, then immediately shot out a low kick, aiming for Du Wen's shin.

THUD!

A dull impact echoed through the air. Both of their bodies shuddered, and they each took a few steps back.

"Hmph, kid, did you really think you could keep me suppressed forever?!"

After being knocked back, Du Wen didn't hesitate. Forcing himself to ignore the pain in his leg, he took a step forward, lunged at Lin Feng, and brought his raised right leg down viciously in an axe kick aimed at his head.

He intended to press his advantage and kill Lin Feng.

SWISH.

Lin Feng's figure blurred, narrowly avoiding the attack, but the force of the blow still sent his clothes fluttering.

Du Wen's eyes were icy. Seizing the moment before Lin Feng could regain his balance, he shot his left leg out like a cannonball, kicking at Lin Feng with unstoppable momentum.

BANG!

CRACK!

A dull thud was followed by a sickening crunch. Struck by the kick, Lin Feng's entire body was sent flying, and he crashed hard onto the ground.

Lin Feng struggled to his feet. He rubbed his aching ribs and spat out a mouthful of blood. His previously steady breathing was now ragged, and cold sweat beaded on his forehead.

His eyes narrowed to slits, his gaze fixed icily on Du Wen.

"Good. Very good. You're quite impressive, to actually take a kick like that from me!"

Du Wen's salt-and-pepper hair was slightly disheveled, betraying his inner turmoil. He had used seventy to eighty percent of his power in that last kick—it was fair to say he'd almost gone all out—yet Lin Feng was still standing before him, alive and kicking.

If he hadn't landed the blow himself, no one would have believed it.

'He cursed inwardly. He hadn't expected Lin Feng's defense to be so strong.'

"Enough talk. Let's continue."

Lin Feng said coldly.

His eyes were filled with intense fighting spirit. Although he had been knocked down by that last attack, the immense pressure he felt from it only made him more desperate to cultivate and improve his strength.

Because only with enough strength would he have the confidence to challenge powerful enemies. Only then could he avoid situations like this, where he was forced onto the defensive the moment he encountered an Ancient Martial Artist whose realm surpassed his own.

It was a perfect illustration of the saying: know yourself, know your enemy, and you will never be defeated.

"Fine. Since you're in such a hurry to die, I'll grant your wish today."

Du Wen took a deep breath and lunged forward again. This time, he didn't dare to be the least bit careless. He attacked with his full power, throwing a punch.

'He refused to believe that Lin Feng could take another attack like this!'

Du Wen's fist cut through the air with a piercing whistle, as if it could shatter the very space around it.

Lin Feng's brow furrowed slightly. He hadn't expected Du Wen's punch to be so powerful. He abandoned his plan to look for a counter-attack and focused all his energy on defense.

BANG!

The sound of the impact rang out. Both men were sent flying backward at the same time. After landing, they both staggered back several steps. At that moment, both their faces were grim.

"Kid, I admit your defense is strong. We're evenly matched in strength, but it's still impossible for you to beat me!"
