Chapter 180: Mud and Sand
"ROAR!"
A roar echoed as the brown bear emerged from the rubble. It shook the dust and sand from its massive head, its gaze fixed on Lin Feng, filled with venomous hatred.
That last move had been its all-out attack, yet the human had blocked it. Worse, the human had only sustained a minor injury. How could it not be enraged?
"ROAR!"
The brown bear let out another low growl and charged toward Lin Feng once again. This time, Lin Feng chose not to meet it head-on.
After all, strength was the beast's forte, and there was no need to get bogged down fighting it. Besides, this was the world of demonic beasts, and he didn't dare linger. With a swift turn, his figure vanished.
The brown bear grew alert when Lin Feng suddenly disappeared. But just then, a faint sound reached its ears—an eerie, chilling sound. It was the whisper of the wind as Lin Feng zipped past its head.
The bear's body trembled instinctively. It understood what that sound meant: danger. Absolute danger!
"SNAP!"
A thick vine, manipulated with clever force by Lin Feng, snaked out from a crevice in the rocks and lashed against the brown bear's neck.
With a crisp sound, the vine snapped. The bear's hide was simply too tough; the vine hadn't caused any real damage. However, the act had thoroughly enraged the beast.
A bloodthirsty glint shone in its crimson pupils. With a flicker of its massive body, it appeared beside the branch.
It raised a huge paw and slammed it down, smashing the branch to pieces. The wood instantly turned into a cloud of splinters that scattered in the air.
Lin Feng now stood before the brown bear, a faint smile playing on his lips. 'The beast's strength is indeed immense, but I've completely adapted to this environment now. This will be even less of a problem.'
The brown bear stared at Lin Feng, killing intent surging in its crimson eyes. Although it lacked higher consciousness, it knew it had run into a formidable opponent today.
The bear took a step forward, its giant paw whistling through the air as it slammed down. The paw seemed to blot out half the sky as it crashed toward Lin Feng, its massive shadow engulfing him completely.
Lin Feng's eyes narrowed. He knew this was a terrifying blow. With a flicker of his body, he dodged the fatal attack, the bear's paw passing straight through his afterimage.
But the paw didn't stop. It continued its forward trajectory. Just then, Lin Feng's voice rang out, "Your strength is great, but that's all there is to it!"
Before his voice had even faded, Lin Feng's figure reappeared in front of the brown bear. He had already switched his attack style.
He felt that the brown bear's attack style was like that of a strength-based Martial Artist. That kind of approach was useless against him. Rather than waste time, he might as well use this opportunity to temper his own body again.
'The process is incredibly dangerous, but this is exactly the kind of pressure I need right now!'
Lin Feng bent his legs and clenched his fists, gathering his power. Before the brown bear could react, he charged straight at it.
His feet stomped heavily on the ground, which collapsed beneath him as if from an explosion. His figure shot out like a cannonball, aimed directly at the brown bear's chest.
"BANG!"
Lin Feng's iron-hard fist slammed viciously into the brown bear's chest. The bear let out a mournful howl as it was sent flying, crashing heavily into a large tree behind it. It broke clean through the trunk before finally coming to a stop.
"SPURT!"
The brown bear struggled back to its feet. A sharp pain radiated from its chest, where a slight indentation had formed, but it quickly returned to normal.
The brown bear's life force was incredibly tenacious. Even Lin Feng's full-power attack hadn't caused it much damage.
Its savage eyes locked onto Lin Feng. The threat he posed was growing stronger and stronger.
It also faintly smelled a peculiar scent on Lin Feng, but it had no time to ponder it, because Lin Feng was charging again.
A torrent of fist-shadows thundered toward it, each blow seeming to carry immense force. The very air was stirred, and a violent gale swept out, blowing away all the dust on the ground.
The brown bear swung its claws, blocking all of Lin Feng's punches. Then, it opened its great maw to bite down on Lin Feng's shoulder.
But Lin Feng twisted his body to the side, leaped up, and drove his bent knees hard into the brown bear's waist, sending it flying back more than ten meters.
"BANG!"
With a muffled thud, the brown bear was thrown a great distance. It tumbled through the dense forest, snapping large trees and tearing up the green grass, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
Lin Feng slowly retracted his arms and quietly watched the bear lying on the ground. He had used short-range force in that last strike.
Furthermore, he had incorporated the techniques of the Lingxi Finger to achieve it. 'I have to say,' he mused, 'combining short-range force with the Lingxi Finger is incredibly powerful.'
Even the bear's unbelievably tough hide had barely withstood that finger strike. 'How much would that hurt if I used it on a person?' Lin Feng couldn't help but click his tongue in amazement. 'The thought alone is exhilarating!'
And yet, the brown bear was largely unharmed. It staggered to its feet, the fury on its face even greater than before. Two terrifying glints of light shot from its crimson eyes.
With a roar, the brown bear charged at Lin Feng again, this time with manic speed. It was more than twice as fast as before, and its aura was even more frenzied, as if broadcasting its rage.
Lin Feng frowned. His last punch was powerful, but the brown bear's defense was just as formidable. At this rate, it would be impossible to defeat it; he would only be wasting his stamina.
Even if he did eventually defeat the bear this way, Lin Feng estimated he'd be half-dead from exhaustion. He could already feel his stamina starting to fail.
He didn't have time to wait for his stamina to recover slowly. He was already having trouble holding on. There was still a gap in their overall power, after all.
Lin Feng retreated hastily, but the brown bear was already upon him again. He knew that stalling for time was not an option; he had to find an opportunity to finish this bear first.
But the brown bear gave him no such chance. Just as he was rapidly pulling back, the beast suddenly spun around, its sharp teeth aimed straight for his abdomen.
