The Capital's Dragon Doctor

Chapter 157: Entering the Mountain

After returning to the villa, Lin Feng took out a medicinal pill and handed it to Su Yanxue.

"Take this. This pill will help with your fatigue. Rest for a bit. I'll go make some food, and I'll call you when it's ready."

Su Yanxue nodded and took the pill without any hesitation, swallowing it down.

Lin Feng then turned and went to the kitchen. A short while later, he came out carrying two fragrant dishes: a plate of steamed fish, a plate of braised eggplant, and a portion of tea eggs made in a Zisha teapot. These were all foods Su Yanxue liked.

Lin Feng sat across from Su Yanxue, and they chatted as they ate.

"Yan Xue, after we finish dinner, I'll give you some acupuncture to treat your eyes."

Su Yanxue was surprised to hear this.

"My eyes? There's nothing wrong with my eyes. And can acupuncture even treat eyes?"

Su Yanxue stared at Lin Feng, amazed. She knew he was an expert in medicine, but she was still stunned that he wanted to treat her for something. She thought he must be joking.

"Of course. The path of Chinese medicine is endless. The only limits are those of your imagination. After all, it's a practice with five thousand years of history."

Lin Feng smiled and gave her a brief explanation of the underlying principles.

Su Yanxue listened with a curious expression, like a student in a class.

After polishing off the food, Lin Feng sat on the edge of the bed to give Su Yanxue a massage. Su Yanxue's health wasn't the best, as she often suffered from insomnia. That was why Lin Feng had gone out of his way to find several precious medicinal herbs and refine them into a Nourishing Essence Pill, all to help condition her body.

Watching Su Yanxue work so diligently, Lin Feng's lips curled into a faint, warm smile.

Su Yanxue was very efficient, finishing a full day's worth of documents. She rubbed her sore neck and looked at Lin Feng with a smile.

"Lin Feng, thank you. I feel so much better today than yesterday. It feels like my workload has decreased quite a bit these past few days."

"There's no need to be so polite between us. It wouldn't matter even if you didn't work. I can support you for the rest of your life."

Lin Feng held Su Yanxue's slender, pale hand, his deep eyes, bright as stars, shining with warmth.

Stared at like that by Lin Feng, Su Yanxue shyly pulled her hand away. She gave him a playful glare and said, "You're impossible! Who said I'd let you support me? Hmph."

Lin Feng smiled slightly and said, "Alright, I'll stop teasing you. Your work for the day is done, so let's get to bed early."

The night passed without incident.

The next morning, after calling over Wang Tianlin and Li Minde to give them instructions and confirming that everything was taken care of, Lin Feng finally left Jiangzhou City for Wo Hu Mountain in the Northwest.

Wo Hu Mountain, located in the Northwest of the Huaxia Land, was a mountain range that stretched for hundreds of kilometers, with its highest peaks reaching eight to nine thousand meters.

This mountain range was situated in the most remote part of western Huaxia. The area was desolate, barren, and sparsely populated. Furthermore, its mineral resources were so scarce that mining was practically impossible.

In a certain region of the Northwest, a group of men in mismatched attire were gathered around a sturdy man, deep in discussion.

"Brother Hu, how come it's just our small group this time? Where are the other brothers?"

One of them, a fierce-looking youth with a crew cut, asked in confusion.

The man he called Brother Hu was Zhou Hu, the leader of this particular crew and second-in-command to their boss, Zhang Hu. This particular crew was made up of six or seven men who had all come up under Zhang Hu.

They originally lived together in a village before Zhang Hu recruited them, promising that if they followed him, there would always be meat on the table.

Zhou Hu was an ambitious man himself. He wanted to ride Zhang Hu's coattails to make his mark on the world, so he had joined Tiger Hall.

This time, they were preparing to score a major windfall, as Tiger Hall's income had been stagnating lately. If things kept on this way, it was only a matter of time before they went under.

That was why he had decided to take a risk. After getting a tip, he had come to Wo Hu Mountain to scout things out.

"The information isn't reliable. What would be the point of bringing them over?"

"Besides, even at best, there are only two or three of 'that thing.' How many ways can we split that?"

"Tiger Hall is on the decline. If this tip is real and we actually get our hands on those Red Flame Fruits, we can use them as an offering to a different sect in exchange for martial arts manuals or money. Wouldn't that be perfect?"

Zhou Hu's string of suggestions had the other men itching to get started.

"Since Brother Hu put it that way, should we set out now?"

The man with the crew cut looked at Zhou Hu and asked.

Zhou Hu pondered for a long moment before finally nodding. "Yes. There's no time to lose. Let's move out immediately."

With that, Zhou Hu stood up, waved his hand, and commanded, "Brothers, follow me!"

Zhou Hu was the first to rush out of the courtyard, and the group followed closely behind him, heading toward the mountain range.

Just as they were advancing into the depths of Wo Hu Mountain, Lin Feng finally arrived at its base.

"You all wait for me here. If I'm not out in half a month, you can go back."

Lin Feng instructed Wang Tianlin and the other personnel accompanying him.

"We respectfully see you off, Mr. Lin."

Wang Tianlin and the others all replied respectfully.

Lin Feng then entered the mountain forest alone. He had sensed that the Spiritual Power within this mountain range was abundant, and he intended to cultivate his martial arts here.

Lin Feng moved quickly. Despite the rugged and uneven mountain path, he was as swift as a bird in flight.

About half an hour later, Lin Feng's figure appeared in a valley. The valley was surrounded by towering ancient trees with lush foliage.

'Oh? There's actually a formation blocking the way. Interesting.'

Lin Feng chuckled. He closed his eyes for a moment, sensing the fluctuations of Spiritual Power for several miles around, and quickly located the formation's node. He then thrust out his palm and struck a large tree.

BANG!

Following a muffled thud, the large tree collapsed with a crash.

Lin Feng seized the opportunity to walk deeper into the valley. His brow furrowed when he discovered the valley was teeming with poisonous vermin.

'These vermin are nothing to fear. But if I'm not mistaken, these insects must be incredibly venomous, and there are a huge number of them. A single touch would surely be fatal.'

Lin Feng murmured to himself. He could see tens of thousands of poisonous insects, all of them incredibly venomous bees. Contact with them meant certain death. For Lin Feng, however, this was a trivial matter.

SWISH!

Lin Feng pulled a small jade vial from his backpack, uncorked it, and tossed it into the air.

It instantly transformed into a cloud of medicinal powder that rained down, scattering and drifting into every corner of the valley. In an instant, it enveloped all the poisonous bees within.
