Chapter 109: Annihilation
Instead of pressing his attack, Lin Feng shot backward to dodge Zhang Yongsheng's assault. By this point, Zhang Yongsheng was in a killing frenzy, fighting with reckless abandon. The only thing he wanted was Lin Feng's life!
Even if it meant getting injured, he was determined to kill Lin Feng today!
'Life-breaking Grass, Soul-Extinction Leaf, and Scorching Sun, as well as extremely yang herbs like Absolute Cold… The person who concocted this poison has some skill, but their methods are a bit crude.'
After sniffing it for just a moment, Lin Feng had identified the toxins on the silver needle. The poison was indeed potent.
Any other Martial Artist would have likely been knocked unconscious by the poison and suffered a cruel fate. But to him, this stuff was so weak he'd find it bland even if he ate it over rice.
"Since you want to play with poison, I'll be happy to play along."
Lin Feng spoke lightly. Then, with a sudden raise of his hands, two small porcelain vials slid from his sleeves. They collided, and the powders within mixed together as they coated the Short Blade in his hand. A sharp scent, much like bitter almonds, instantly filled the air!
In an instant, the strange, fragrant scent filled the entire courtyard, carried on an invisible current of air.
The moment the scent appeared, it saturated the air. Zhang Yongsheng had only taken a small whiff before he started trembling uncontrollably, his entire body going limp and powerless.
THUD!
Zhang Yongsheng collapsed to the ground, his gaze bewildered and vacant. The gas was a paralytic agent Lin Feng used on his opponents.
Lin Feng slowly approached, the Short Blade in his hand aimed straight at Zhang Yongsheng. Zhang Yongsheng remained motionless, staring blankly at Lin Feng with a stupefied expression.
CRACK!
With the crisp sound of breaking bone, Lin Feng easily snapped Zhang Yongsheng's neck. Zhang Yongsheng was dead. His eyes, wide with the fury he felt at the moment of his death, finally fluttered shut, full of unwilling resentment.
"I was planning to fight you head-on for a bit, but you just had to go and play with poison in front of me. Truly courting death."
Slowly getting to his feet, Lin Feng shook his head and sighed. 'Who do they think I am? I'm the foremost expert of the Lin Family's younger generation. My family was so worried about assassination attempts that they've been feeding me lethal poisons as part of my regular diet since I was a child!'
'Besides, I've cultivated the Supreme Profound Medical Scripture to the Perfection Stage. How could a powerful Cultivation Technique like that be defeated by a few pathetic poisons?'
After wiping the blood from his Short Blade on the corpse, Lin Feng headed deeper into the manor. He hadn't forgotten his primary objective.
"They're… they're both dead?!"
Wang Zeping sat in his room, staring dumbfounded at the surveillance monitor. His eyes were wide, and he simply couldn't believe what he was seeing.
Zhang Yongsheng and Li Er… both dead. This was no joke. 'They were the strongest men I had at my disposal!'
GULP!
Wang Zeping swallowed hard, large beads of sweat breaking out on his forehead. He never imagined he would run into someone so powerful in a minor place like Xijing City.
"Damn it, where is everyone?!"
"All units, move! Stop him! Stop him at all costs!"
"Don't let him get anywhere near this room!"
Wang Zeping, on the verge of losing his mind, was screaming like a madman. None of his other plans mattered anymore. The only thing to do was to drive this monster out of Xijing immediately.
CLICK!
As Lin Feng pushed the door open, he was met by a man in a suit who was tightly gripping a pistol.
"Freeze!"
The man barked, his face a mask of anger and contempt.
'I haven't been with the Wang Family for very long,' the man thought. 'I followed Wang Zeping to Xijing, and now I have a chance to prove myself!'
'Thanks to the Wang Family's training, I know what a Martial Artist is. But so what? What can a Martial Artist do?'
'What's he going to do at this range? Is he invincible or something?!'
"Out of my way."
Lin Feng didn't even glance at the man. He spoke that single, cold command and continued walking into the room, his steps firm, as if nothing in the world could possibly stop him.
The man's pupils contracted, and a vicious grin spread across his face.
"You're asking to die!"
With a low snarl, he pulled the trigger, sending a bullet flying toward Lin Feng!
PING!
Sparks flew as the bullet seemed to strike a steel plate, letting out a sharp, metallic sound!
CLINK!
The bullet dropped to the floor with a faint clink. By then, Lin Feng had already disappeared from the guard's sight, having slipped inside and shut the door behind him.
The security guard was stunned, his jaw hanging open. He was completely dumbfounded. 'I'm positive that shot hit him!'
Before the guard could process what had happened, Lin Feng's hand suddenly shot out and clamped around his throat. The guard felt his breath catch, and a moment later, his head lolled to the side and he collapsed, lifeless.
Glancing down at the spot on his Short Blade that had blocked the bullet, Lin Feng nodded in satisfaction.
'As expected of a Yellow-rank weapon. It really is sturdy.'
Lin Feng slid the Short Blade back into his boot and strode toward the living room, where a large group of people had gathered on the first floor.
They were all Wang Zeping's bodyguards. When they saw Lin Feng enter the living room, their expressions turned grim. They had all seen Zhang Yongsheng's corpse.
Lin Feng's eyes swept across the crowd. He knew Wang Zeping was truly out of options. There were plenty of ordinary men with live firearms, but not a single Postnatal Martial Artist among them.
To a normal person, this would have been an impenetrable fortress. But to Lin Feng, no matter how many of these men there were, they were nothing more than cannon fodder.
'There are more of them upstairs?'
Lin Feng's gaze flickered around him. He could clearly sense a hidden sniper locking onto his position. He frowned slightly. At this point, a sniper rifle was one of the few things that could actually pose a threat to him.
However, with his current speed, it wouldn't be easy for them to land a shot.
WHOOSH!
Turning his body slightly, he charged directly into the crowd. He didn't even bother to draw his Short Blade, simply lashing out with a single punch.
That single punch—the same kind Zhang Yongsheng had withstood hundreds of without sustaining any obvious injury—sent a black-suited bodyguard flying. The man crashed against a nearby wall and was instantly killed, his breathing ceasing on impact.
BANG!
Lin Feng was already dashing toward the staircase when a dark figure leaped down from above. The sound of a gun being cocked echoed like the tolling of a death knell.
The man's eyes glinted with malice. He held an exquisite revolver, aimed it straight at Lin Feng, and pulled the trigger.
RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT…
A dense spray of bullets rained down.
