The Capital's Dragon Doctor

Chapter 107: Rampant

However, Zhang Yongsheng was only acting so brazenly because he was relying on his wrist guard. Otherwise, he would have been no match for Lin Feng.

Lin Feng narrowed his eyes, watching Zhang Yongsheng. 'I have to end this fast,' he thought. 'If this drags on, it will definitely attract others. Trying to deal with them then will be much more troublesome.' So, Lin Feng decided to take the initiative.

With a flicker of his body, he pounced toward Zhang Yongsheng, who had already assumed a defensive stance.

BANG!

Lin Feng and Zhang Yongsheng were instantly locked in combat. The two were fighting in a fierce deadlock. Zhang Yongsheng's attacks were exceptionally sharp, yet Lin Feng parried them with ease.

The two were now back on even footing.

Although Lin Feng had now drawn a Yellow-rank dagger, the Golden Wrist Guard on Zhang Yongsheng's wrist was no mundane item. It was likely also around Yellow-rank.

With this comparison, the gap between them no longer seemed so large. They were, at best, evenly matched.

Zhang Yongsheng, however, was utterly shocked. His wrist guard was no ordinary item—it was a mid-grade Yellow-rank Spiritual Artifact.

He always wore it and had never taken it off. To reveal it today, just to kill Lin Feng, spoke volumes about how much of a threat he considered Lin Feng to be.

But the more wary he was, the more seriously he took Lin Feng. He knew he had to end this fast.

At that thought, he stomped hard and shot forward, leaping more than ten feet into the air. He then flipped in mid-air, his entire body hurtling down toward Lin Feng like a cannonball.

The punch tore through the air with a thunderous roar, aimed straight for Lin Feng's head. Before the fist even arrived, the force of the blow alone stung his face.

BAM!

Not to be outdone, Lin Feng also shot forward. He thrust out his right hand, strong as an iron pincer, to meet the incoming fist. The two forces collided with a dull, heavy impact.

As their hands met, a deafening crack echoed out. A shockwave rippled outward, sending the surrounding trees rustling violently.

Lin Feng and Zhang Yongsheng were both sent staggering back several steps. Neither had gained an advantage, but Zhang Yongsheng was ecstatic. A fight like this was absolutely exhilarating.

Lin Feng, however, was inwardly shaken. 'This guy is really strong,' he realized. 'Absurdly strong.'

"Kid, you're really something," Zhang Yongsheng said, a slight smile playing on his lips. "You're worthy of me getting serious."

He could already sense Lin Feng's immense potential, but since he had come here today, he was determined to finish him off.

If he let Lin Feng get away, he'd have to sleep with one eye open for the rest of his life!

After speaking, Zhang Yongsheng drew a short sword from his waist. It was a dagger, blood-red from hilt to tip. He was no longer holding anything back; he had just revealed his ace in the hole.

The dagger cast a sinister, cold glint under the moonlight, enough to send a shiver down one's spine.

Zhang Yongsheng let out a sharp breath, his bloodshot eyes locked onto Lin Feng. He leaped into the air, spun, and unleashed a whip kick aimed at Lin Feng's head.

Lin Feng raised an eyebrow and shot forward to meet the attack. He spun his body swiftly and threw a sweeping elbow strike of his own. This time, Zhang Yongsheng didn't meet the blow head-on, dodging to the side instead.

THUD!

With a dull thud, Zhang Yongsheng's knee slammed into Lin Feng's elbow. A burst of energy erupted from the point of impact, and both fighters hastily retreated, their eyes now filled with grim intensity.

Lin Feng glanced at the red, swollen patch on his arm before looking up at Zhang Yongsheng, his eyes turning icy. Though he had blocked the direct collision, he had still come out worse for wear.

The impact had felt like a steel awl boring into his flesh, leaving a sharp, throbbing pain.

Zhang Yongsheng's gaze grew even colder as he looked at Lin Feng. He never expected Lin Feng's defense to be so formidable. Any other early-stage Innate Realm Martial Artist would have had their skull shattered by that kick.

Now, sharp pains throbbed in his own knee. Lin Feng's elbow strike was incredibly powerful, and he could feel the Inner Strength laced within it—a peculiar and unsettling type of Inner Strength.

Zhang Yongsheng wasted no more time. He knew that if they didn't settle this today, he wasn't going to be able to leave.

He had to strike while the iron was hot and defeat Lin Feng in one fell swoop, otherwise he would be the one in danger. At this thought, his figure blurred and vanished on the spot.

The next moment, he appeared behind Lin Feng. The blood-red dagger in his hand shot toward Lin Feng's throat like a viper's strike, as fast as lightning.

CLANG!

Just as Zhang Yongsheng's dagger was about to pierce Lin Feng's throat, Lin Feng's left hand shot up to block it. There was a sharp crack of metal, and sparks flew.

CRACK!

The webbing between Lin Feng's thumb and forefinger split open, gushing blood. Zhang Yongsheng was truly powerful. Even when using every trick up his sleeve, Lin Feng found himself at a disadvantage.

Disregarding the pain, Lin Feng shaped his free hand into a claw and lunged for Zhang Yongsheng's chest. His only option now was to go all out.

If he could just wound Zhang Yongsheng, he might be able to turn the tables. Otherwise, he stood no chance of winning.

WHOOSH!

Zhang Yongsheng was startled; he knew exactly how powerful Lin Feng was. Without a moment's hesitation, he executed a Body Technique and floated backward, retreating from the attack.

Lin Feng did not give chase. He remained poised, unwilling to let this chance for a decisive, life-or-death strike slip away.

Meanwhile, Zhang Yongsheng stood steadily, perched on a tree branch high above the ground. His eyes were cold. He finally understood why Lin Feng had dared to come after the Wang Family all by himself.

'So the kid really has the right to be this arrogant.' With his level of strength, he could run wild out in the world. No wonder he was so brazen.

But his expression grew increasingly grim. He wasn't afraid of a life-or-death battle, but he was unwilling to trade his life for that of a genius Martial Artist like Lin Feng. That would be the stupidest decision imaginable.

But they had already reached the point where one of them had to die.

If he let Lin Feng escape now, Zhang Yongsheng would never be able to accept it. He knew he had already paid a considerable price to come here and kill Lin Feng; he'd even been forced to reveal his trump card.

He understood the principle of cutting the weeds by pulling out the roots. He had no intention of letting a threat who could one day kill him continue to exist in this world.
