Chapter 68: Record
"Heh, I wouldn't be so sure. You have to remember, there are no prior records of this Lin Feng."
"And as soon as he appeared, he had two titans—the president of the Four Seas Business Association and the richest man in Xijing—working for him."
"That's the key point. They're working *for* him, it's not a partnership. In other words, this Lin Feng is most likely a disciple trained by some Ancient Martial Arts sect or family, they just haven't announced it."
The other man explained, his gaze then shifting to the battle in the field.
The battle was incredibly fierce. Although Lin Feng appeared to be fighting with ease, the old man had lived for decades and was once an Innate Martial Artist. Drawing on his vast experience, he quickly found Lin Feng's weakness.
SWISH!
He executed the Seven-Star Step, frantically attacking Lin Feng's vital points with his staff, making it nearly impossible for Lin Feng to dodge.
"Kid, you're just a newly advanced Martial Artist at the Early Stage of Innate. You're no match for me. If you know what's good for you, kneel and surrender now. It'll save you from a painful death."
The old man repeatedly struck Lin Feng's chest with his staff, but instead of inflicting any wounds, the blows produced a series of dull thuds, as if hitting a steel plate.
This was all because Lin Feng's physical constitution was incredibly tough. Treating him like a normal Innate Martial Artist was simply asking for trouble.
He was utterly shaken. 'This Lin Feng is a complete freak!'
"Hmph. A Martial Artist, yet you're willing to work for such a shady organization. How utterly disgraceful."
Lin Feng stared coldly at the old man, his words a sharp taunt.
Hearing this, the old man flew into a rage. "You're courting death, kid! I'll kill you!"
The moment he finished speaking, he began to swing his staff violently. In an instant, streams of Qi Force howled forth, enveloping Lin Feng.
Lin Feng's eyes grew cold. He brandished his dagger, and a sharp white glint instantly streaked through the night sky toward the old man.
He had come this time to annihilate the Black Tiger Gang, so of course he had brought a weapon.
Although Lin Feng's true weapon was still kept in the Medical Immortal Valley, with his skills, even a common dagger could be used to devastating effect.
CLANG!
As a series of crisp metallic clashes rang out, the dense flurry of attacks came to a halt, and both men were sent flying backward.
The clothing on Lin Feng's right shoulder was torn open, revealing a bruised mark from the staff's lashing, which had even started to seep blood.
The old man hadn't gotten off easy, either. Lin Feng's attack had knocked the staff from his hand, and the dagger had slashed his abdomen.
Both were injured!
"Damn it, kid! You've successfully angered me. If I hadn't been injured by that person, you think a mere Innate Martial Artist like you could last ten moves against me?"
The old man spoke sinisterly, his body blurring into a streak of light as he charged forward again. He brandished his staff in an impenetrable flurry, the strikes raining down so densely that Lin Feng had no chance to breathe.
This time, his assault was even more ferocious. He was finally taking this seriously. He had originally assumed that with his strength, dealing with a newly advanced Innate Realm Martial Artist would be a simple matter, but it was now clear that was not the case.
BANG!
A dull impact rang out, accompanied by a spray of sparks. Lin Feng and the old man continuously traded blows, and each collision produced a violent, deafening sound.
After ten moves, Lin Feng was forced back once again. His breathing was now slightly ragged, but his eyes remained perfectly calm, showing not a hint of worry.
He calmly regulated his breathing and slowly closed his eyes. His aura became distant and ethereal.
'Hmm? What is this kid trying to pull?'
Seeing Lin Feng's actions, the old man was thoroughly bewildered, unable to understand what he was up to.
But his wariness gradually increased. After all, the feeling Lin Feng gave him was far from ordinary.
This old man had been recruited by the Black Tiger Gang and positioned to be the first to intercept Lin Feng, which spoke to his strength and importance. He had no desire to be taken down by a careless mistake.
Lin Feng still didn't open his eyes, as if he had fallen into a deep sleep.
"Kid, are you just putting on a show? If so, don't blame me for what comes next!"
The old man said with a ferocious grin, his figure flickering as he appeared before Lin Feng. A massive fist, carrying a biting gale, smashed toward him.
POW!
A massive force shot back, instantly sending the old man staggering back several steps. Lin Feng, meanwhile, remained with his eyes closed, showing no reaction whatsoever.
"What? How is that possible? When did you even throw that punch!"
The old man wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and roared in fury. He hadn't even seen Lin Feng move before a fist sent him reeling back.
In fact, if not for the sharp pain in his ribs, he wouldn't have even been able to tell if Lin Feng had struck with his hand or his foot!
Lin Feng still paid him no mind. He raised his left hand, bringing his index finger and thumb together beside his lips, and blew a gentle puff of air.
The next moment, his left hand shot out like a nimble snake, darting toward the old man, whose expression changed dramatically.
Without a second thought, he immediately brandished his staff to block.
But in that split second, Lin Feng's index finger and thumb had already clamped down on the wooden dragon's head at the tip of the staff.
CRACK!
The dragon's head instantly shattered, sending splinters flying in all directions.
"What!"
The old man cried out in pain. His pupils contracted as he looked at the splinters of wood embedded in his arm. He had clearly never expected something like this.
'His staff wasn't made of simple wood; refined steel and iron had been added through a high-level forging process. And now, Lin Feng had crushed it with his bare fingers!'
"Kid, you win today. We'll fight again another day."
With that, the old man turned to leave.
"Trying to run? Not so fast. I never said I'd let you go."
Lin Feng's bone-chilling words echoed in the air. He wasn't in the habit of letting a tiger back into the mountains; today, he had to pull this problem up by the roots.
With that said, Lin Feng charged forward again.
The old man's brow furrowed. In his current state, he couldn't afford a direct confrontation. He could only try to stall Lin Feng and wait for reinforcements; otherwise, he would truly meet his end here.
WHOOSH!
He stomped his foot hard, instantly creating a crater more than three inches deep in the ground. His figure flickered and vanished, his speed reaching its absolute peak.
Lin Feng's brow twitched. 'I didn't expect this old codger to still be so fast. Truly worthy of someone who only dropped to the Early Stage of Innate because of an injury!'
"Kid, if you want to catch me, you've still got a long way to go!"
