The Capital's Dragon Doctor

Chapter 61: Certain Kill

"Hmph. Lin Feng, I, Yang Hao, swear on the name of the Rose Mercenary Corps—I will kill you today!"

Spinning the cylinder, the chamber for the golden bullet clicked into place. His eyes were bloodshot, and he radiated the thick stench of blood, like an Asura Warrior fresh from a battlefield of corpses and gore.

"Heh."

Lin Feng's gaze was deep and inscrutable. A mocking smile played on his lips.

"I'll be waiting. But I hope you actually have the strength to back that up."

The moment Lin Feng finished speaking, Yang Hao's pupils constricted. Without a word, he flicked his wrist, and the golden bullet flew from his gun.

SHHHIIING—

A golden arc streaked through the air, heading for Lin Feng with an ear-splitting shriek.

This time, Yang Hao's eyes were filled with excitement. He could already picture the bullet tearing through Lin Feng's throat.

But just then, a strange smile curved Lin Feng's lips. With a flick of his arm, a glint of cold, silvery light shot from his palm to intercept Yang Hao's golden bullet.

It was a silver needle—a single, unremarkable needle. But before the man's shocked eyes, it pierced straight through the golden bullet!

The instant the needle and bullet made contact, the needle shattered, turning into a shower of silver dust.

The golden bullet, however, was knocked off its trajectory in that same instant, and it whizzed past Lin Feng.

'He actually blocked it! What kind of technique is this?'

Yang Hao's pupils constricted. He'd been an assassin for four or five years and had encountered every kind of formidable enemy and situation imaginable.

But this was the first time he had ever met a monster like Lin Feng.

'Lin Feng's power is definitely not less than mine. In fact, he's probably much stronger.'

'The bullet I just used could pierce the outer armor of a tank, yet Lin Feng blocked it with ease. This proves he's stronger than me... it's just unbelievable.'

At this thought, it suddenly dawned on Yang Hao that he might have picked a fight with a truly terrifying person.

Then, a critical question occurred to Yang Hao. His last move had been a sneak attack, launched while Lin Feng's attention was supposedly diverted.

'Logically, I should have had every advantage. So why wasn't this guy, Lin Feng, even the slightest bit flustered?'

'Could he have sensed my movements from the start?' Once the thought took root, he couldn't shake it.

'How did he do that?'

Yang Hao was completely baffled.

"Your Rose Mercenary Corps is impressive, and you're a decent assassin yourself. But you chose the wrong target. Let me tell you something: Rose... is just another name on my list of defeated foes."

"I'm going to let you experience true fear, firsthand. And from now on, the Rose Mercenary Corps will be nothing more than a stepping stone for me, Lin Feng!"

Having said his piece, Lin Feng wasted no more time. He erupted forward, charging at Yang Hao with incredible speed.

WHOOSH!

In less than three seconds, Lin Feng crossed the nearly fifty-meter distance and appeared before Yang Hao.

Lin Feng's right leg swept out in a kick aimed at Yang Hao's abdomen.

Yang Hao immediately raised his arms to block, but his injured arm slowed him down considerably.

'Crap, I can't block it!' In the next instant, Yang Hao realized Lin Feng wasn't holding back at all; this kick was powerful enough to kill him.

Gritting his teeth, his heart hammering in his chest, Yang Hao abruptly vanished at the very last second.

Lin Feng's kick hit empty air, slamming into the wall where Yang Hao had just been. The entire wall instantly spiderwebbed with cracks, and the rebound force sent Lin Feng staggering back.

SWISH!

Lin Feng had just regained his footing when he heard the sound of countless objects slicing through the air behind him.

His eyes narrowed as he spun around.

A volley of sharp daggers, carried by a powerful force, sped toward him. An ordinary person would have been cut down instantly.

But Lin Feng was no ordinary person. He suddenly dropped into a crouch, evading the majority of the daggers.

The remaining daggers, however, struck Lin Feng's arm, producing the sharp clang of metal on metal.

Seizing the opportunity, Yang Hao hastily retreated a couple of steps, putting distance between himself and Lin Feng.

Panting heavily, Yang Hao stared intently at Lin Feng and pulled up his sleeve slightly.

When he saw that his Fine Iron Arm Guard had been bent by that kick, his heart still skipped a beat, even though he had been mentally preparing himself.

"Is that really possible for someone without cybernetic enhancements?" he muttered.

"Heh, not bad," Lin Feng sneered. "But that's as far as you go."

"Who... Who the hell are you?"

Yang Hao wracked his brain for a moment but couldn't think of any expert this powerful within Huaxia.

"Who I am doesn't matter."

Lin Feng shook his head, then grinned, revealing a set of perfectly white teeth.

"I don't care what you're doing here in Great Xia. The moment you decided to mess with me, you signed your own death warrant."

Lin Feng's eyes were filled with killing intent. He didn't know why the Rose Mercenary Corps was trying to assassinate him, but now that they had, he had to eliminate them completely, root and stem.

"Hahaha! Such arrogance! Do you think I'm easily frightened?"

Yang Hao laughed in fury and snorted. "Today, I'll show you the true power of the Rose Mercenary Corps!"

With that, Yang Hao whipped out a pitch-black pistol. He aimed at Lin Feng, a savage expression on his face, and pulled the trigger.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

A rapid series of gunshots erupted as countless muzzle flashes flared, blanketing Lin Feng. Every bullet was aimed at a vital point!

Lin Feng's expression was glacial. He snapped his left hand up, and several silver needles instantly appeared between his fingers.

WHIZ!

In the next instant, with a flick of his fingers, the needles shot out, forming a great net that descended upon Yang Hao.

BAM!

The needles and bullets collided, erupting in a shower of sparks. Both Lin Feng and Yang Hao retreated violently at the same time.

"Do you still think that special weapon of yours has any effect on me?"

Lin Feng's expression was placid. He casually twirled another silver needle in his hand—an endless supply, it seemed, appearing from nowhere. He stood as straight and unyielding as a spear.

Yang Hao, in contrast, was a complete mess. His clothes were covered in dust, and several silver needles were even sticking out of his body.

"You're strong. I'll give you that. You're actually worthy of me using my true abilities."

Yang Hao looked up, his eyes filled with a grave intensity.
