Jian Qiuyan waved him over. "Come, come! If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have found Chuxing so quickly. You're the Lin Family's greatest benefactor!"

Xiao Ye set down the fruit and looked at Lin Chuxing.

She had gained some weight, and most of the tubes connected to her body were gone.

After such a long recovery, she could now eat soft foods, though she still had to avoid anything spicy or irritating.

In fact, she'd have to avoid them for the rest of her life, which meant she would miss out on many of the pleasures and experiences of an ordinary person.

But Lin Chuxing wasn't asking for more. She was already content just to be where she was today.

"Have you handled things on your end?"

"Almost. We might be able to take down the Angel Association soon. I have a feeling it will be within a year."

If the Angel Association was gone, it would mean Lin Chuxing was truly free!

"Good! I hope it disappears soon!"

Xiao Ye chatted and laughed with them for a while before heading out into the hallway.

Lin Chuyue was sitting to one side, her face flushed.

"You..."

Xiao Ye took her hand. "Because of the Angel Association, I can't let you stand in the light just yet."

"But it will be soon. When the time comes, I'll let everyone know that you're the only one I've ever loved."

Lin Chuyue blushed. Lin Chuxing had repeatedly told her she wouldn't get in their way.

And she could see that her sister was sincere.

She summoned her courage and squeezed Xiao Ye's hand.

When Jian Qiuyan and Lin Feng came out and saw this, they both broke into fond, knowing smiles.

Lin Chuyue quickly let go of his hand. "Mom, Dad, are you leaving?"

"Yes, we're going to see your grandfather. He said he wanted to visit, but we'll have him come over in a few days when Xiao Ye isn't so busy."

"We'll head out first. You two young people have a good chat."

With that, the two of them quickly slipped away.

The patients on this floor were mostly military veterans.

Next to it was a fire exit, and two young men were inside, smoking.

The other guy laughed along, his tone full of derision. "Young Master Chen, you've really got the charm. You can hook up with anyone you want."

"But she's a sickly girl. Don't go near her. It's bad luck."

"No way. That sick girl is too beautiful. I want to have a little more fun with her!"

The patient in Room 1004 was Lin Chuxing.

Hearing this, Xiao Ye's expression turned icy.

He kicked open the half-closed door to the fire exit.

The loud noise made the two men inside jump, and they dropped their cigarettes.

"Shit, who the hell are you!" Chen Ze roared. "You fucking made me drop my cigarette!"

Xiao Ye didn't say a word. He just walked up to him and viciously slapped him across the face.

"Fuck, you dare to hit me! You're courting death!"

Chen Ze's accomplice was already scared stiff. He backed away a few steps and fled the stairwell.

Without hesitation, Xiao Ye slapped him again, then grabbed him by the collar and lifted him off his feet.

"From this day on, you are not to go near the person in Room 1004 again. Do you hear me? If I ever see you again, I'll kill you!"

With that, he let go and turned to leave.

Chen Ze grimaced in pain. "You! Stop right there!"

Those two slaps had been heavy. He had lost a tooth, and several others were loose. He knew without a doubt they couldn't be saved.

"You son of a bitch, you think you can just hit someone and run? Who gave you the balls? Do you have any idea who I am?"

'Originally, Xiao Ye had just planned to teach him a quick lesson—to scare him enough that he wouldn't bother Lin Chuxing again. Who knew the guy would be so eager to die!'

'In that case, he couldn't be blamed for not showing mercy!'

Xiao Ye grabbed the man's hair and gave him a savage beating.

The person outside saw this and scrambled away in terror.

Two minutes later, an angry shout came from outside. "Stop!"

Hearing the familiar voice, Chen Ze almost cried with relief. "Brother! Big brother! Help me! This guy is trying to kill me!"

"Stop! What gives you the right to beat my brother!"

Only then did Xiao Ye finally stop. He kicked Chen Ze, who was limp as a dead dog, in front of the newcomer. "You can ask your brother what he did."

"I don't care what my brother did, you can't just beat someone like this! The Chen Family will never let you get away with this!"

'Another one who blindly protects his own.'

Xiao Ye looked at the man's face.

'His features were ordinary. His face told of great wealth and status, but it was all inherited from his ancestors. He himself was nothing.'

Xiao Ye couldn't be bothered to argue with him. "Tell your brother to stay away from the person in Room 1004. And you, the Chen Family, had better keep him in line!"

The man slammed heavily into the wall and managed to force out one sentence, "Go get my dad!"

Chen Ze's companion, who was standing a short distance away, saw Xiao Ye look in his direction and immediately turned and ran in terror.

She obediently closed the door to the hospital room, shutting out all the noise.
