Chapter 424: Be Sure to Protect Yourselves
Once they arrived, they would wait at a safe house for Xiao Ye to come and give them their assignments.
They were Dragon Country's most elite operatives and would follow any order without question!
Xiao Ye breathed a small sigh of relief.
「On the third day.」
The team had arrived.
Xiao Ye found an opportunity and went to the safe house.
Inside, ten men were already standing, each one brimming with energy. They had a powerful presence that made it clear at a glance that they were formidable individuals.
Xiao Ye took out a schematic. "This is the lab's internal layout. I drew it from memory, estimating the dimensions."
"I could only draw what I've seen, so there might be hidden rooms or other areas. We have to be prepared for any surprises."
He took out a pen. "This is where the rescue target is located."
"We'll breach from this position, then get the target out as quickly as possible!"
In truth, Xiao Ye knew that if anything happened to Lin Chuxing, he would immediately become a suspect.
Even if the evidence proved he wasn't responsible, the Angel Association wouldn't believe it. After all, the possibilities for faking evidence were simply too numerous.
So, as a precaution, his objective wasn't just to save Lin Chuxing, but to destroy the lab as well!
He would release all the test subjects inside to create chaos.
And as for who would be blamed, Xiao Ye had already picked out the perfect culprit!
After a full day of planning, every member of the team was clear on the details.
Xiao Ye distributed weapons to them. "Make sure you stay safe!"
"We move... tomorrow! Remember your escape routes. If you run into trouble, you can split up."
"Rendezvous at the designated location afterward. My people will be there to extract you!"
Only after settling all this did Xiao Ye return to his quarters.
「The next day.」
It was a bright and sunny day.
N City looked as bustling as ever during the day.
This was, after all, one of the most prosperous cities in the world.
Xiao Ye's body double had already found a way to sneak into the villa.
The surveillance feed flickered for a moment but quickly returned to normal.
Xiao Ye also slipped away quietly.
The man in the room now was an impostor.
He had just left when Zhu Chen received a message: the Angel Association needed his help with something.
Zhu Chen walked to the room as planned. "Xiao Ye, the Angel Association needs us for something."
"You go on your own," came the reply, a line Xiao Ye had recorded in advance. "I'm not feeling well."
"What's wrong? Should I call a doctor?" Zhu Chen continued, dutifully playing his part.
"No, I just want to rest for a bit." The 'Xiao Ye' on the surveillance feed had a very similar build and height.
Even his face was disguised; you wouldn't be able to tell the difference unless you looked up close.
Viewed through the monitor, it was completely impossible to tell he was a fake.
"All right, then. I'll go by myself." Left with no other choice, Zhu Chen headed out alone.
When he arrived, someone asked, just as expected, "Why isn't Xiao Ye with you?"
"He's not feeling well." Zhu Chen looked at the man and frowned slightly. "And please, stop lumping me and Xiao Ye together all the time."
The other man's lips curled into a smirk. "I just see you two together all the time. It was just a casual question."
Zhu Chen was clearly displeased. "This is something I can handle on my own. Got it?"
'Ah, I see.'
The implication was that he was also powerful and not necessarily any weaker than Xiao Ye.
It was true, though. Ever since he and Xiao Ye had arrived, the Angel Association seemed to focus more on Xiao Ye, treating Zhu Chen as little more than a sidekick.
Zhu Chen went to attend to his business.
And so did Xiao Ye.
He had already rendezvoused with the team.
The group stealthily approached the location of Lab Seven.
Lab Seven was located in the basement of an office building, not on a mountain or in some other desolate, uninhabited area.
This meant that getting inside wouldn't be all that difficult.
The lab tapped into the main building's power grid, and so did its electronic locks.
If they could hack into the building's main systems, they could activate the elevator and unlock the doors below.
The elevator doors slid open.
Xiao Ye and the ten men filed in immediately.
They were all dressed in flexible tactical clothing, their faces concealed by realistic masks and wigs.
To avoid detection, Xiao Ye had even altered his height and build, and suppressed his natural aura.
Even someone who knew him extremely well wouldn't have been able to recognize him.
When the elevator doors opened again, they were facing the entrance to the lab.
At a nod from Xiao Ye, the ten men rushed forward.
BEEP! BEEP!
The laboratory door slid open slowly.
The ten men raised their guns, charged straight in, and began firing indiscriminately!
Xiao Ye hung back. His objectives were to destroy everything in his path—especially the cameras and power supply—and to plant bombs in key locations.
The security inside was surprisingly poor. With the office building providing cover, they had never imagined someone would dare to storm the place in broad daylight!
BANG! BANG! BANG!
The sound of gunfire was incessant.
So were the screams.
The power was cut.
Before the backup generators could kick in, Xiao Ye had already found the utility room and completely destroyed the entire power system.
Xiao Ye and his men switched on the high-intensity flashlights on their heads and continued their sweep.
Every test subject they came across, Xiao Ye set free; every lab section they passed, he destroyed!
By the time the team reached Lin Chuxing's location, less than three minutes had passed.
Xiao Ye said in a low voice, "I'm here!"
Lin Chuxing looked at him, pleasantly surprised. "I can't believe you actually did it! You kept your promise!"
Xiao Ye didn't say another word, instead moving to personally disconnect the nutrient pod.
Meanwhile, the other team members began planting bombs at the designated demolition points.
Two minutes later.
The bombs were set.
The nutrient pod was disconnected.
Lifting the nutrient pod by himself, Xiao Ye carried it into the corridor.
BOOM!
A tremendous explosion erupted!
A large hole was blown through the wall, revealing a section of the city's sewer system on the other side.
Xiao Ye immediately ordered them to take the nutrient pod and leave while he covered their retreat.
As soon as the lab was attacked, security forces from the outside tried to charge in.
But Xiao Ye had destroyed the main door's lock and jammed it shut, so they couldn't get in right away.
Meanwhile, Xiao Ye and his team were already climbing one by one into the sewer and heading for the exit.
BOOM!
BOOM!
One massive explosion followed another.
The laboratory was left in absolute ruin.
The test subjects inside ran around like headless chickens until, after a while, they finally found the new exit and scrambled out!
By then, Xiao Ye and his team had long since emerged from another sewer exit and successfully boarded their getaway vehicle.
The entire operation, from start to finish, took only ten minutes.
Five minutes for the assault and extraction, and five minutes to escape through the sewers.
But they weren't completely out of danger yet.
Xiao Ye immediately headed back, while the rest of the team took the nutrient pod to the docks.
Leaving by plane or car was out of the question; the only viable escape route was by sea.
But they couldn't take a cruise liner; they'd have to use a container ship!
