The Master Descends the Mountain: My Destined CEO

Chapter 377: If You're Mentally Ill, Go to the Hospital

Ouyang Mao didn't have that much money at the moment, but that didn't mean he wouldn't in the future.

This sum was essentially an advance, deducted from his future earnings.

Ouyang Mao immediately fell in line, not daring to entertain any other ideas.

His bank cards and a host of other important items were all in the hands of the person pulling the strings.

After composing themselves, the two left together.

「The scene shifts to the conference room.」

It was half an hour before the shareholder meeting, and besides Ouyang Mao, the room was empty.

Xiao Ye leaned back on the sofa. "That Ouyang Mao... the look about him has changed. You must have noticed."

Zhu Chen nodded. "He used to be just a mediocre man, but now his mind is working overtime. He's starting down a path of treachery and cunning."

Ouyang Mao had changed a great deal after everything that had happened.

Someone who is so easily changed, rather than someone who grows, can never become truly powerful.

「Ouyang Corporation Headquarters.」

「In the seventeenth-floor conference room.」

「Ten minutes until the shareholder meeting.」

People began to trickle in.

They frowned upon seeing Ouyang Mao. "Who let you in? Don't think just because you've been accepted back into the Ouyang Family and given a position in the company that you're qualified to attend a shareholder meeting!"

"I hold five percent of the shares. You tell me, can I attend?" For the first time, Ouyang Mao was truly confident.

The man was stunned, his face a picture of disbelief.

But Ouyang Mao didn't bother explaining. "Don't ask so many questions," he said directly. "You'll find out what you need to know soon enough."

True to his word, the man didn't ask any more questions, but he shot dark glances his way from time to time.

「Another five minutes passed.」

Almost everyone had arrived.

Except for a few key figures in the Ouyang Family.

They each held close to ten percent of the shares, a force not to be underestimated.

Just as the meeting was scheduled to start, the remaining few finally arrived.

"Who called this shareholder meeting?" They had only received a text message with no name attached.

This was standard practice for shareholder meetings, a way to prevent people from skipping out or stirring up trouble beforehand just based on who called it, saving everyone time and energy.

"No idea."

At that moment, Ouyang Mao stood up. "I did. I've called this shareholder meeting for a single purpose."

"The Ouyang Family is in chaos. The Ouyang Corporation cannot be without a leader for even one day. We need someone to step up and take charge."

Someone scoffed. "So? None of us have said a word. What gives you the right to act on our behalf?"

Ouyang Mao looked at him. "Because I'm going to be the one in charge!"

The conference room was silent for a moment, then erupted in laughter.

"Did you hear that? He actually wants to be the one in charge!"

"An illegitimate son like him... How dare he say something like that!"

"Who knows how he got those shares, but they're worthless in his hands!"

Ouyang Mao's expression soured. Just then, a voice came through his earpiece. "Tell them: obey, or die."

Ouyang Mao froze. 'I didn't think the person backing me would be this aggressive!'

'The person who contacted me before wasn't like this at all. Did they switch handlers on me? Or are they just that confident of victory?'

He paused for a moment before speaking. "I'm not asking. I'm informing you. You have two choices!"

"One: Obey, and support my appointment as the new head of the Ouyang Corporation."

"Two: Die."

The entire room fell silent again.

Then, an even louder wave of mockery exploded through the room.

"Did you hear that? I'm dying of laughter! Kid, are you mentally ill or something?"

"If you're sick, go to a hospital! What are you doing here?"

The words had barely left his mouth when cell phones began to ring again.

They looked at their phones, and one by one, their faces turned grim—the exact same reaction as the minor shareholders before them.

With the state making a move, was there any dirt on them that couldn't be dug up?

It was only because Xiao Ye had his uses that they hadn't all been arrested long ago.

BANG!

A man shot to his feet, slamming his palm on the table. "You... How did you get this? How could you know!?"

Ouyang Mao's confidence returned. "That's not your concern. All you need to worry about right now are the two options I've given you."

"If you choose the first option, you will quietly support me as the one in charge."

"If you choose the second, the exit is to your left. But don't say I didn't warn you. One day, your bodies might just wash up on the banks of the Imperial City's moat."

"You're threatening us! Li Mao, you've got some nerve!"

Ouyang Mao didn't hold back, slamming his own palm on the table. "My name is Ouyang Mao now!"

「An hour later.」

Ouyang Mao walked out of the conference room, looking refreshed and invigorated.

Now, all the shareholders, major and minor, were under his thumb.

The next step was to return to the Ouyang Family.

「At the Ouyang family's ancestral home.」

The family members had all received the news and rushed over.

"What's going on? Why are so many people back today?"

"We got a message saying there was a major shift among the company's shareholders."

"Me too. Did the shareholders change? How is that possible? It also said a new chairman was appointed. Who is it?"

"Me!" Ouyang Mao strode into the Ouyang residence. "I am now the new director of the Ouyang Corporation, as well as its new CEO."

"If you have any questions, you can ask the other shareholders."

"If there are no questions, then sit down. We can begin."

「Another half an hour later.」

Ouyang Mao's expression was grim. He had thought everything would go as smoothly as it had at the corporation.

He hadn't expected the Ouyang Family to have so many old traditionalists. One by one, they claimed his mother was unfit for high society, or that he himself was unworthy!

But no matter what threats or bribes he tried, they refused to yield!

The voice came through his earpiece again. "Tell them: anyone who doesn't agree, dies."

Ouyang Mao's body trembled, but he immediately obeyed. "I'm giving you one last chance! Either you agree to make me the Patriarch..."

"...or you die, right now!"

"Li Mao, I think you've gone mad!" a man stood up and declared. "I will never listen to you! A person like you is not fit to be the Patriarch!"

The words had barely left his mouth.

A bloody hole suddenly appeared on the back of his head.

His eyes bulged as he slowly crumpled to the ground.

The room was silent for a moment before screams erupted.

"He's... he's dead!"

"It's murder!"

"What happened? Was that a sniper?"

Their eyes darted to the only open window at the back of the living room.

It had been opened earlier because someone had put on too much perfume, and another person couldn't stand the smell.

They never imagined it would lead to someone's death!

"Quick, close the window!"

Ouyang Mao stared at the body on the floor, his whole body trembling with excitement.

'Someone really died!'

He fought to suppress a smile. "Did you see that? That's the price of refusal. Who else wants to refuse?"

As the window was shut, an old man rose to his feet, his face livid with rage. The man who had just died was a stand-in for his son!

"You murder your own kin in cold blood! You deserve to die!"
