Xiao Ye swept Lin Chuyue up into his arms and walked out the door.
Watching his departing figure, Chu Yan felt a bitter pang in her heart, but all she could do was watch.
She could only take out her frustration on the Ma Family members. Striding over to one of them, she slapped him across the face. "You wanted me dead?"
"A bunch of worthless nobodies like you don't even have the sense to know your own limits!"
By now, Lin Chuyue was sobbing uncontrollably. She stared at the man before her, still finding it hard to believe.
She cautiously reached out a hand to caress his cheek. It felt warm and real. "You... you're alive?"
"Of course."
Xiao Ye smiled gently. "What did you think? Did you want me to be dead that badly?"
"No, I don't want you to die!"
Lin Chuyue threw her arms around Xiao Ye, hugging him tightly. Only then did she truly believe that he was alive.
A living, breathing person with a warm body and a beating heart!
Overwhelmed with joy, Lin Chuyue burst into tears, clinging to him for dear life. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry! It's all my fault!"
"I almost got you killed!"

Xiao Ye returned to the Ma Family's estate and looked at Chu Yan. "Go to the car and look after Lin Chuyue. I'll handle the rest of them."

Seeing Lin Chuyue's pitiful state, she let out a cold sneer and sat down beside her.

"He's dealing with the Ma Family."
Thinking of Xiao Ye and the words he had just spoken, Lin Chuyue felt a pang of sweetness.
Chu Yan was a woman too. One look at that expression and she knew: Lin Chuyue was starting to develop romantic feelings for Xiao Ye.

With that, she got out of the car and moved to the driver's seat.
Lin Chuyue sat up. Chu Yan's words filled her with self-blame.
'I hurt Xiao Ye, and I hurt his feelings for me.'
An unknown amount of time passed.
Xiao Ye finally finished his business and got into the car. He reached out to pull Lin Chuyue into his arms, but she moved away. "I don't feel well right now..."
"I'd like to be alone for a little while, if that's okay."
Xiao Ye would never refuse her. "Let's go."
Chu Yan started the car. She shot a deep, meaningful look at Lin Chuyue through the rearview mirror before stepping on the gas and speeding away.
