Chapter 32: Don't Believe His Lies
Beside her, Ding Qi's expression turned ugly.
'What is Chu Yan trying to say?'
'That Xiao Ye is actually a good man?'
'That good-for-nothing country bumpkin?'
Lin Chuyue's expression, however, remained unchanged. "Since Miss Chu is so familiar with Xiao Ye, then I'll have to trouble you to warn him not to be so arrogant and conceited in the future."
"And he shouldn't let his deep-seated insecurities drive him to slander others so casually."
"With a personality like his, even with someone protecting him, he's bound to get into trouble sooner or later. The truth can be a bitter pill, but I hope he can understand that."
Liu Dan, who was beside her, immediately chimed in, "That's right! Xiao Ye is not worthy of our President Lin at all!"
Chu Yan's lips curled into a cold smile. 'A bunch of frogs in a well, completely clueless!'
'Xiao Ye is arrogant and conceited because he has every right to be!'
"I won't tell Xiao Ye, because he did nothing wrong. The only mistake he made was helping you."
After speaking, Chu Yan strode out of the private room.
After a moment's thought, she decided to call Xiao Ye anyway. She had originally intended to treat him to this meal.
"Get over here, quick. I'm in private room number one."
「Half an hour later.」
When Xiao Ye arrived, even before entering the private room, he heard voices coming from next door.
'Is that... Lin Chuyue's assistant?'
'I can't believe that woman had the nerve to come back!'
Xiao Ye shoved open the door to the private room and, sure enough, saw Liu Dan.
Liu Dan saw him too. She instantly gritted her teeth in anger, but she was more afraid than anything.
She immediately grabbed Lin Chuyue's arm, her body trembling. "President Lin, it's him! He's the one who threw me to those people to save himself!"
Seeing her pretentious act, Xiao Ye scoffed, "Quite the actress, aren't you? Don't believe her nonsense. She's one of Han Fei's people!"
'There he goes again!'
'Slandering people again!'
'Why does he have to do this?'
Lin Chuyue couldn't take it anymore and slammed her hand on the table. "Xiao Ye, that's enough!"
Liu Dan immediately started wailing, "President Lin, if I were really working with Han Fei, I wouldn't have helped you get off the cruise ship! And I certainly wouldn't have been caught by Han Fei because of it!"
"President Lin, you have to believe me! I've been with you for four years, and I've never done anything to let you down!"
Lin Chuyue immediately believed her. "That's right. If she really wanted to harm me, why would she have saved me before? Wouldn't that be redundant?"
Xiao Ye recalled Liu Dan's earlier words and explained, "That was just an accident. Her real plan was to trick you into going to the room downstairs."
"Not only that, she also wants ten percent of the Lin Family's shares."
"Shut up! Can you stop your malicious slander!"
Lin Chuyue's eyes were icy and devoid of warmth. "I know what kind of person Liu Dan is better than you do!"
"Xiao Ye, get out of my sight right now! I don't want to hear another word from you!"
"President Lin, you can't let him just leave like this! He's the one who did this to me..."
Liu Dan was sobbing so hard she could barely breathe. Anyone who didn't know better would have thought she had suffered a great injustice.
Lin Chuyue squeezed her hand. "This involves your reputation, so we shouldn't make a big scene. Listen to me for now. I promise I'll give you a satisfactory resolution when we get back."
'No matter what,' Lin Chuyue thought, 'Xiao Ye has saved me several times.'
'I'll be the one to repay the debt he owes Liu Dan.'
Hearing the commotion from the next room, Chu Yan pushed open the door, walked in, and directly looped her arm through Xiao Ye's.
"Well, well, isn't this a lively party."
"Xiao Ye, didn't I tell you to go to private room number one? What are you doing here?"
"No matter how much you meddle, some people will never appreciate it. Why bother getting yourself all worked up?"
"Come on, let's go eat."
"No! He can't leave!" Liu Dan refused to back down.
'I haven't gotten any compensation yet. I can't let it go this easily!'
Chu Yan shot a sharp glance at her. "Miss Lin, control your subordinate. My patience has its limits!"
If it weren't for Xiao Ye, she would have already dealt with everyone in this room.
Intimidated by her powerful aura, Liu Dan choked back her sobs.
Xiao Ye looked at Lin Chuyue's cold, beautiful face and turned away with a sigh.
'Forget it. Let her find out the truth for herself!'
Chu Yan pressed herself close to his arm, raised a delicate eyebrow at Lin Chuyue, and left triumphantly.
Lin Chuyue clenched her fists, suppressing the fire in her heart.
'That bastard Xiao Ye! He has the nerve to accuse others of being scumbags, when he's the real scumbag!'
'He claims he has nothing to do with Chu Yan, but here he is, out to dinner with her, clinging to her so closely. Shameless!'
Taking a deep breath to compose herself, Lin Chuyue pulled Liu Dan down to sit. "Let's eat first. Once the Lin Family's business is settled, I'll give you a sum of money as compensation and help you find a therapist."
The mention of money finally made Liu Dan quiet down. 'Can't let such an expensive meal go to waste.'
「At the restaurant entrance.」
Huo Wenhao rushed in.
Having learned that Xiao Ye was here, he had hurried over, eager to report on the real estate situation in Jiangcheng.
As a qualified subordinate, he felt he had to get Xiao Ye to stay at his own home, not a hotel.
It just so happened that Lin Chuyue and her group were finishing their meal.
The two parties met at the entrance.
Ding Qi immediately put on a smile. "Young Master Huo, you're here to eat too? What a coincidence. We've just finished."
Huo Wenhao was in a hurry. He gave a perfunctory nod and rushed inside.

Ding Qi saw it too, of course. "Looks like he's going to see Miss Chu. The Huo Family may be more powerful than the Chu Family, but here in Jiangnan, they still can't beat the Local Bully."
"Chuyue, you need to stop associating with that Xiao Ye. He's just a pretty boy, willing to sell his body and seduce Miss Chu for his own future."
"A man like that isn't worthy of you!"
"That's right!" Liu Dan secretly threw a flirtatious glance at Ding Qi and quickly added, "President Lin, I was just lucky to be alive. Otherwise, I would have died back there!"
"That Xiao Ye is an animal! He used me as a shield to save his own skin, and today he showed no remorse at all. He even threw mud at my name!"
"President Lin, you must not be deceived by him! Otherwise, what happened to me might happen to you in the future!"
Lin Chuyue was already suppressing a bellyful of anger, and hearing this, her expression turned even colder. "I have absolutely no relationship with him."
The three of them reached the restaurant's entrance.
Lin Chuyue politely declined Ding Qi's offer to drive her and walked towards her own car.
Liu Dan suddenly clutched her stomach. "President Lin, I'm suddenly not feeling well. I think I need to go to the hospital."
"Perfect, I'll take you."
"No, it's okay, President Lin," Liu Dan said, her eyes turning red. "Let me go by myself. Please, give me some privacy."
"Alright."
Lin Chuyue didn't insist, instead hailing a taxi for Liu Dan.
As the car started moving, Liu Dan quietly instructed the driver, pointing at the taillights of Ding Qi's car, "Follow that car."
