Chapter 30: Slander
Xiao Ye sneered, "Sue me? Go ahead and try!"
"I'm telling the truth, Ding Qi. Stop putting on an act. If you've really got the guts, then sue me."
"And all of you, you're helping the very person who's cheating you. Ding Qi doesn't just have a wife and kids; he has several mistresses."
"He even lives off these women, juggling several at once, spending their money, and even getting them pregnant..."
"Xiao Ye, shut your mouth!"
Lin Chuyue was seething with anger and utterly disappointed in Xiao Ye.
She had never imagined someone could be so vile.
To make such baseless accusations, to slander a stranger like this, was simply insane.
After shouting at Xiao Ye to stop, she looked at Ding Qi apologetically. "I am so sorry. I'll get him out of here right now. For my sake, I hope you can forgive him this one last time."
"I promise, it won't happen again."
With that, Lin Chuyue grabbed Xiao Ye and dragged him all the way outside.
She then let go, her expression ice-cold. "Have you said enough? Doesn't your conscience bother you for slandering someone like that?"
"Honey, I'm telling the truth."
Xiao Ye sighed helplessly. "Why can't you just believe me this once?"
"How can you expect me to believe you? You say Ding Qi has a wife and kids? Fine, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that."
"But you also say he has many mistresses and lives off women. Do you really think that's possible?"
Lin Chuyue was completely exhausted. "Don't spout any more nonsense. Ding Qi can even make Huo Wenhao back down. That alone shows how powerful he is!"
"If you keep provoking him, something bad is going to happen sooner or later. I've said my piece, and from now on, I won't get involved with you anymore."
"But what I said is the truth. Believe me."
Xiao Ye didn't understand. He had saved Lin Chuyue time and time again, so why wouldn't she believe him?
Seeing that Xiao Ye was still stubbornly refusing to see reason, Lin Chuyue was at a loss for words. "All right, I don't want to hear any more of this. You should go."
She had said all that needed to be said and had done all she could.
Sighing in disappointment, Lin Chuyue turned and went back into the living room.
Ding Qi offered the documents again. "Chuyue, for your sake, I'll let him off this one last time. Don't let me down, now."
Lin Chuyue forced a smile, opened the documents, and signed her name.
Behind her, the members of the Lin Family who were watching all sighed in relief.
"This is great! The Lin Family is saved!"
"Thank you so much, Young Master Ding! You're truly a good person!"
"Young Master Ding, don't forget to help us out in the future."
Ding Qi savored their fawning words. "Rest assured, everyone. From now on, the Ding Family and the Lin Family will be the best of partners."
"Whenever there's an opportunity, I'll bring the collaboration to the Lin Family. For now, go and raise the funds. You can just transfer it to my card when the time comes."
Watched by the Lin Family, Ding Qi walked out of the villa, feeling extremely pleased with himself.
Seeing Xiao Ye still standing in the courtyard, he grew even more smug. He walked over step by step, making sure to wave the signed documents in his hand.
"See this? Lin Chuyue signed it. Nobody believes a word you say!"
Then, he lowered his voice and stared intently at Xiao Ye. "Kid, I don't care how you found out, but if you want to live, you'd better learn to keep that mouth of yours shut!"
"But then again, it doesn't matter if you talk. No one will believe you anyway. How pathetic."
"You have a thing for Lin Chuyue, don't you? Too bad a country bumpkin like you is completely unworthy of her!"
"Let me tell you, sooner or later, Lin Chuyue will be mine."
"Once I get my hands on her, I'll make her scream for me between my legs every single day!"
Xiao Ye's eyes turned cold.
'This reckless fool, daring to covet his woman!'
'He's courting death!'
Without a moment's hesitation, Xiao Ye raised his hand and viciously slapped Ding Qi across the face.
The sharp sound cut through the night air.
Just then, Lin Chuyue came out and saw Ding Qi staggering back from the force of the blow.
Her expression changed drastically, and she quickly shouted, "Stop! Xiao Ye, what are you doing?!"
Ding Qi clutched his face, his eyes full of venom. "Chuyue, he's the one who started it!"
Lin Chuyue's head throbbed. She didn't even want to try reasoning with him anymore. "Xiao Ye, I've warned you so many times, but you still don't know when to back down."
"I'm done with you. Take this card. I'll transfer some money into it later as payment for your help."
"Get out of the Lin Family estate, and don't ever come back!"
Right now, Ding Qi was the Lin Family's last hope. If they offended him because of Xiao Ye, the family would truly be in danger!
Xiao Ye was all alone; he could walk away at any time.
But she was different. She had the entire Lin Family behind her!
Xiao Ye's lips curled into a mocking smile. He slapped the bank card out of Lin Chuyue's hand. "Ding Qi is a piece of trash. If you don't believe me, just wait and see!"
With that, he turned and left.
'Did they really think I don't have a temper?'
'Since Lin Chuyue refuses to give up until she hits a dead end, then I'll let her hit it!'
Hearing Xiao Ye's parting words, Lin Chuyue shook her head in disappointment. 'How can he still be so unrepentant, even now?!'
"Ding Qi, I'm so sorry you got hit because of me."
Ding Qi lowered his hand and gave a slight smile. "It's nothing. I won't stoop to his level; it would only lower my status."
Lin Chuyue felt a sense of relief. Him not pursuing the matter was undoubtedly the best possible outcome.
'I hope Xiao Ye doesn't come and provoke him again...'
Lin Chuyue personally escorted Ding Qi from the Lin Family estate. Just as she was about to turn back, she saw a familiar figure stumbling toward her!
"President Lin!"
'Is that... Liu Dan?'
Liu Dan ran closer. She was covered in bruises, her hair was a mess, and her dress was torn to shreds, looking like a few rags hanging off her body.
'Didn't Xiao Ye rescue her before?'

Liu Dan threw herself at Lin Chuyue and burst into tears.

A shocking amount of hatred erupted from Liu Dan's eyes. Thinking of the torment she had endured over the past few days, she wished she could flay Xiao Ye alive!
"President Lin, it's all that Xiao Ye's fault!"
"He's the one who did this to me!"
Lin Chuyue was shocked. "How could this be?"
'Back then, I was the one who was captured, and Xiao Ye brought Han Fei to rescue me.'
'I thought Liu Dan had already been rescued!'
Liu Dan was sobbing uncontrollably. "President Lin, that Xiao Ye is a monster! To deal with Han Fei, he actually... he actually threw me to those men to buy himself time."
"He took Han Fei away but didn't rescue me at all!"
"Those thugs... they held me down and violated me... Xiao Ye definitely heard me crying for help, but he did nothing."
"President Lin, I was tortured for days. I... I don't want to live anymore!"
With that, she tried to smash her head against the nearby gate.
Lin Chuyue quickly stopped her. "Don't worry, I will definitely get you justice for this!"
'No woman would use her own innocence to slander someone, and her attempt to kill herself just now wasn't fake.'
Liu Dan had been Lin Chuyue's secretary for several years, after all. She knew exactly how to manipulate her.
