Chapter 126 - 86: Patience is Taking Things in Stride and Holding Out! North to Yan City Overnight
Before the body even hit the ground, Lu Yun shot past it. His left hand snaked out, grabbing a young gang member who was completely dumbfounded and lifting him up like a baby chicken.
He then lifted his right foot and kicked the iron gate in front of him. The gate was sent flying.
Lu Yun strode onto the pier, dangling the terrified, trembling young man.
"Do you have any ships that can make a long voyage? I need to go to Yan City!"
The young man dangled in mid-air, his legs swinging freely. The terror of being lifted off the ground made his entire body convulse.
So when he heard the question, he answered almost subconsciously, "Yes... We do! Please don’t kill me, sir!"
"Our Gang Leader happens to have a big ship that can travel from the Hongjiang River Basin to most parts of the Daxia New Country!"
"Where’s the ship?"
"It’s... It’s over there! Pier Three! It’s the biggest one!"
"Get the crew for me now. I’m leaving immediately, heading north to Yan City!"
Lu Yun didn’t plan on letting anyone know he came from Yun Port City. After arriving in Yan City, he would take a train back to Yun Port City.
Hearing this, the fear on the young man’s face deepened. He couldn’t help but stammer, "S-Sir, set sail at night? There’s no precedent for that! Sailing at night is very difficult and extremely dangerous!"
"Hm?" Lu Yun glanced down at him.
That murderous gaze nearly scared the soul out of the young man’s body. He quickly changed his tune. "We can! We can! Sir, you’ve just come at a bad time!"
"The captain, Brother Chen, and a few of the foremen have all been invited by the Gang Leader to go have fun at the nightclub! They aren’t on the ship!"
"Where?"
"It’s... It’s at the Xian Guang Night Club, just two streets from here!"
Hearing this, Lu Yun narrowed his eyes.
’Sailing a passenger ship this late at night was indeed dangerous. The Hongjiang’s currents were complex and littered with hidden reefs. The slightest mistake would mean the ship’s destruction and everyone’s death.’
’That’s why he had to find those guys and force them to set sail. He needed to get out of Nanfu City—the sooner, the better!’
Just then, an enraged roar came from behind him.
"Son of a bitch! That bastard killed Brother Feng! Brothers, get him!"
On the pier, the members of the Qingli Gang who had been alerted by the gunshot and commotion were now gathering.
Some carried short fish-gutting knives, others held wooden clubs, but most of them raised pistols.
In an instant, the dark muzzles of at least twenty or thirty guns were aimed squarely at Lu Yun.
Lu Yun didn’t turn around. He casually tossed the young man he was holding to the side.
Then, as the night wind howled, no one saw how Lu Yun moved.
All they saw was the bare-chested, muscular figure’s fists twitch slightly.
Countless streams of invisible Fist Force rained down in all directions like a torrential downpour!
Bloody holes instantly erupted all over the bodies of the dozen or so gang members closest to him!
Seeing this bizarre scene, the gang members farther away who hadn’t yet had a chance to fire were scared out of their wits.
"A ghost!!!"
"It’s a ghost!!!"
They dropped their knives and guns, turned, and fled, disappearing into the various corners of the dock in the blink of an eye.
Lu Yun didn’t give chase. Instead, he sprinted in the direction of the Xian Guang Night Club, two streets away.
He pushed open the heavy, ornate glass doors, and a warm gust of air washed over him, thick with the smell of Western liquor, perfume, cigars, and makeup.
Several massive crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, illuminating the entire hall as brightly as day.
The walls were covered in dark gold wallpaper and adorned with several Western oil paintings—nudes, landscapes, warhorses, you name it.
The most eye-catching area was in the center of the hall, where the men of the Qingli Gang had taken over nearly half the space.
A hundred or so of them were scattered across sofas and round tables, their shirts unbuttoned to reveal the tattoos on their chests.
They held wine glasses and had cigars dangling from their lips, laughing and talking raucously without a care.
A few who were dead drunk were openly groping the showgirls in their laps, right in front of everyone.
In the very center of the hall, sprawled on the largest and most conspicuous leather sofa, sat a burly man in a suit.
He was in his forties, with a hulking build and a fleshy, brutal-looking face. His left arm was wrapped around an innocent-looking beauty in an ink-green cheongsam, while his right held a flirtatious woman in a moon-white one.
This was the Gang Leader of the Qingli Gang, Yang Qingyun, whose power at the Peak of Anjin made him a major figure in Nanfu City.
He leaned back against the sofa with his eyes half-closed, a satisfied smile on his face as he listened to the flattery of his high-ranking subordinates.
A burly, bearded man slammed his hand on the table and boomed, "Gang Leader, those losers from the Red Saber Sect have been taking a beating from us all week! If you ask me, we should just charge straight into their headquarters!"
A wiry man beside him nodded eagerly and chimed in, "That’s right! And didn’t that Consul Sato from the Wa Country say he’s giving us a new shipment of weapons tomorrow?"
"With those, plus the Gang Leader’s power at the Peak of Anjin, that old fossil from the Red Saber Sect won’t stand a chance, no matter how skilled he is!"
"Hahahaha!"
"Well said!"
The crowd chimed in with their agreement, one sycophantic remark following another.
The bearded man added, "If the Gang Leader is worried about not being able to kill the old man, we could always go after his grandsons first."
"We just kidnap them, parade them out in front of him, and see if he doesn’t slip up."
Just then, a middle-aged man with a Fu Manchu mustache clicked his tongue, a lecherous glint in his eyes. "Tsk, tsk... I’ve seen the new concubine that old fossil from the Red Saber Sect married. Heh, she was a famous actress, a real stunner! What a waste for an old cradle-robber like him to get his hands on such a tender young thing!"
