Chapter 165: Private Donation
After getting a call from Li Wang's homeroom teacher, the two of them rushed to the school. This time, they weren't called to the teacher's office, but to the principal's office. There was still a little time before school let out, and a crowd of curious students of all ages had gathered outside.
Inside the office were not only Li Wang and the young Teacher Wang, but also a bespectacled man in his fifties.
The man had thinning hair, and the face that might normally have looked kind was now a mask of anger, his brow deeply furrowed.
Li Wang, meanwhile, was sitting in the principal's chair, eating snacks with a cold, arrogant expression. Snacks were piled high across the principal's entire desk, with even more stacked on the floor.
Chen Dong and Li Huiran squeezed through the circle of students and into the office. Before they could say a word, the middle-aged man asked in a cold tone, "You must be Li Wang's parents."
Chen Dong quickly replied, "Yes. What's wrong with Li Wang?"
The middle-aged man said grimly, "I am Wan Gui Xue, the principal of Jiangzhou Qixing Noble School. Our school is simply incapable of educating your daughter, Li Wang. Please take her home and find another school."
Chen Dong raised an eyebrow. 'Her parents get called in on her first day of school, and she gets expelled on the second.' He shot a subtle thumbs-up at the snack-munching Li Wang. 'That's my girl.'
Chen Dong, who had been worried that Li Wang would stir up trouble at school, now had the perfect excuse. He was actually tempted to just agree and take her home.
But Li Huiran was not about to let him have his way. Her powerful CEO aura flared as she demanded in a cold voice, "Principal Wan, is this how your school educates children? You don't even explain what happened and jump straight to expulsion!"
Principal Wan walked over and shut the door, blocking out the noisy students. He turned to Li Huiran and said in exasperation, "In my thirty-plus years as an educator, your Li Wang is the most lawless child I have ever encountered. She's only in first grade, yet she's already leading a gang of students to rule the entire school. You tell me, how am I supposed to teach a child like that?"
Chen Dong felt a headache coming on.
Li Huiran glanced at Li Wang, her eyes filled with disbelief.
'How could such an adorable, tiny girl rule the whole school? Some of the fifth and sixth graders are two or three heads taller than her. How is that possible? Did she conquer them with cuteness?'
Seeing Li Huiran's disbelief, Principal Wan pointed at the mountain of snacks and said, "These are her spoils of war after a single day. And that crowd of students outside? They're all her lackeys."
He added, his face a mask of horrified anger, "If she stays here for two more days, she'll probably stage a coup and overthrow me as principal!"
Li Huiran was dumbfounded. 'Does Li Wang really have such powerful leadership skills at her age?'
It was as if a dam had burst for Principal Wan, and his complaints came pouring out. "The students at our school all come from prominent families. If they get so much as a scratch or are bullied in any way, their parents come straight to me. We are truly helpless when it comes to a student like her."
Li Wang, still munching on snacks, was not pleased. She shouted, "Hey, old man! I didn't bully anyone! They chose to follow me. Besides, I help out any students who are getting bullied!"
In truth, Li Wang had been on her best behavior at school today. Following Chen Dong's advice, she had resolved to be helpful to her classmates. However, one of her classmates was being picked on by an upperclassman. It wasn't exactly bullying—an older student had just bumped into her in the hallway—but the first-grader immediately burst into tears. Li Wang couldn't stand for it. She marched her classmate over to the upperclassmen to demand an apology. Under Li Wang's immense spiritual pressure, she didn't even have to make a move before the older students resentfully bowed to her.
And so, the legend that she had subdued an entire class in a single day spread like wildfire throughout the school. Seeing that she could defeat the upperclassmen, the younger students began bringing her snacks as tribute. With the exception of the older students she had initially intimidated, the rest of the student body fell in line, one after another.
Li Huiran, of course, knew nothing about this. In her view, Li Wang was a little different from other children, likely because of everything she had endured over the years. This made it all the more crucial that she attend school. Besides, transferring after only two days might traumatize her daughter's fragile mind.
Her brow hardened as she said to the principal in a cold voice, "My daughter, Li Wang, already told you she didn't bully anyone. I suggest you investigate this matter properly, Principal. In the meantime, I would like to personally donate ten million to improve the school's facilities."
The principal was stunned. 'What is with this woman? Does she think this is about money?'
He said awkwardly to Li Huiran, "This isn't an issue with the school's facilities, it's…"
Li Huiran had already pulled out her checkbook. The figure she wrote wasn't ten million, but twenty million. She said, "I am willing to personally donate another ten million to improve the students' reading materials!"
A check for twenty million was placed directly in front of the principal.
Even at a noble school, Principal Wan had never once seen a twenty-million donation in his thirty-plus years. He stammered, "Th-this isn't an issue with reading materials either!"
Li Huiran raised an eyebrow. She wrote out two more checks—one for ten million, and another for five million. She placed all three checks in front of the principal. "These donations are to improve the student cafeteria and to provide a personal grant for your humanities-related creative works, Principal Wan."
