The Master and His Wealthy Fiancée

Chapter 137: A Chance Encounter with the Star-Picking Sect Guardians

Despite being Celestial Spirit Powerhouses, a sense of helplessness washed over them at the Second Guardian's words.

The Third Guardian sighed. "To think such a monster exists in the mortal world. What is her Realm?"

The Second Guardian shook his head. "I don't know. Maybe she isn't even human."

Frustration showed on the Great Guardian's face. "To think the insignificant Li Family Manor is actually a den of monsters! How am I supposed to avenge my disciple now? This hatred will never end!"

Just then, a rapidly moving figure caught their attention.

"Who is that?"

Having seen a photo of Chen Dong, the Second Guardian—the one with the sharpest eyesight—recognized him at a glance. "That's Chen Dong!"

The Third Guardian hesitated, asking, "Great Guardian, should we still seek revenge?"

The Great Guardian gritted his teeth. "Of course we will! Why wouldn't we? A true man always settles his scores!"

"But that little girl…" the Third Guardian said with concern.

The Great Guardian snorted. "What's there to be afraid of? The girl might just be visiting the Li family; she probably has nothing to do with them or Chen Dong. Besides, as long as we don't use any signature Star-Picking Sect techniques and clean up after ourselves, who could possibly prove it was us?"

Hearing this, the other three nodded indignantly. They had emerged from seclusion specifically for revenge. Returning to the sect empty-handed would be a great loss of face.

Without another word, the four of them shot off to intercept the figure.

Chen Dong, worried about what might have befallen the Li Family Manor, was intercepted halfway there by the four Guardians from the Star-Picking Sect.

The four men surrounded Chen Dong, trapping him. The Fourth Guardian asked, "Second Guardian, how strong is he?"

The Second Guardian activated his piercing gaze, staring into Chen Dong's eyes. "He's about at Grandmaster Peak," he announced. "He must have used some dirty trick to kill Nephew Luo!"

Indeed, with his severe injuries still unhealed, Chen Dong could only muster the power of a Grandmaster Realm cultivator.

The Third Guardian said coldly, "To reach Grandmaster Peak at his age makes him quite the genius. It's a shame he had to go and offend our Star-Picking Sect!"

Chen Dong's gaze swept over them, killing intent rising in his eyes. "How is the Li Family?"

The four Guardians flinched. It was too embarrassing to admit they had been scared off by a little girl. "We ran into you before we even got there," one of them said. "You've saved us the trouble!"

Chen Dong relaxed, his heart at ease. "You must be mistaken," he said calmly. "I didn't kill Luo Tengfei."

The Great Guardian's face turned cold. "As if we could be mistaken about that!" Turning to the other three Guardians, he said, "This brat is only at Grandmaster Peak. Let me avenge my disciple with my own hands! The three of you, form a perimeter and don't let him escape."

With that, he shot toward Chen Dong, his fists and feet striking with ferocious power, as dense as a sudden downpour!

Chen Dong didn't back down an inch. Surrounded by four Celestial Spirit Powerhouses, he had nowhere to retreat to anyway. He met the assault with a phantom-like flurry of his own kicks and punches!

The two clashed, instantly becoming locked in an inseparable struggle that made the other three Guardians marvel.

"And here we were saying he must have used some dirty trick to kill Tengfei. Looks like we underestimated him. A Grandmaster Peak holding his own against a Celestial Spirit Powerhouse without being at a disadvantage… it's shocking!"

"Even though it's just an exchange of fists and feet using True Qi—the Great Guardian hasn't even used his Celestial Spirit techniques yet—that solid foundation of his is still enough to make us take notice!"

"It really is a shame to kill such a rare talent. If he joined our sect, he could become a core disciple!"

"What are you all talking about? He killed Nephew Tengfei! He must pay with his life!"

In the center of the fray, Chen Dong and the Great Guardian had already traded no less than thirty blows, with neither able to land a decisive strike.

The Great Guardian took a step back and condensed his Celestial Spirits, which manifested around him like an impenetrable domain.

When he saw the Celestial Spirits manifest, Chen Dong advanced instead of retreating, seizing the opportunity to unleash his Shocking Extreme Finger.

The Great Guardian sneered and shot both hands out. With a move called "Giant Ape Gazing at the Moon," he parried Chen Dong's lethal finger strike, then landed a blow on Chen Dong's chest with his left hand.

Chen Dong's eyes went cold as his aura suddenly surged. He altered his left-hand attack, landing a heavy palm strike of his own on the Great Guardian's Protective Celestial Spirits.

Both men stumbled back three steps. Chen Dong's brow twitched. 'This is bad!' he thought. The box containing the Mingxi Grass was now in the Great Guardian's hand.

The Great Guardian rubbed his chest. Even through his Protective Celestial Spirits, Chen Dong's palm strike had thrown his energy into chaos and sent a sharp pain through him. Seeing the pained look on Chen Dong's face, he realized the box he'd snatched must be something important.

He opened the box and gasped, his face a mixture of shock and joyous radiance.

Not far away, the Second Guardian cried out, "My god! Mingxi Grass!"

The Great Guardian hastily slammed the box shut, his mind reeling. 'It's actually Mingxi Grass, and a flowering one at that! With this, my breakthrough is within reach!'

He looked at Chen Dong as if staring at a dead man. He had to have the Mingxi Grass. At this point, he couldn't care less about revenge. He turned to the other three Guardians and said, "Any delay could bring complications. Let's attack together and kill this brat with haste!"

At his words, the other three Guardians instantly manifested their own Protective Celestial Spirits.

Chen Dong knew the moment the Mingxi Grass was discovered that a peaceful resolution was off the table. He had wanted to avoid further trouble, but now that was no longer his choice to make.

Facing the four Guardians, all of whom were now bent on killing him, the killing intent in Chen Dong's eyes turned to ice. He clenched his right fist, channeling True Qi into the dozens of Silver Needles hidden within, as lightning began to crackle around his left hand.
