Chapter 132: Source of the Evil Spirit
Wang Mengyu was now intimately familiar with the terror of life and death. The chilling steel of the kitchen knife pricked her skin. She had no doubt that if she so much as twitched her neck, her throat would be slit in an instant.
"Move!"
The familiar voice shocked Wang Mengyu. 'Isn't that Lao Zhang? The one who went home to rest? What is he doing?'
Gripped by absolute terror, Wang Mengyu did as she was told. She was led to the storeroom where the hot pot restaurant kept its waste. It was located in a dark corner behind the main building, a place no one would ever come after dark, and even a fair distance from the back kitchen.
After gagging Wang Mengyu and tying her hands and feet with cloth strips he had prepared, Lao Zhang brandished the kitchen knife, his face twisted in a sickening excitement.
He was at the end of his rope, and he was going to do what he'd always wanted: rape Wang Mengyu.
Fat tears streamed down Wang Mengyu's face as she shook her head frantically.
Now that Wang Mengyu was under his control, Lao Zhang wasn't in a hurry. He was going to savor this exquisite "dessert."
He pressed the kitchen knife against Wang Mengyu's cheek, feigning confusion. "What are you crying for? Isn't this what you've always wanted? Don't cry! Go on, give me that seductive look of yours. I love that look."
This only made Wang Mengyu's tears fall faster.
As if this ruined his mood, Lao Zhang slapped Wang Mengyu hard across the face. "Damn it," he snarled, "I told you not to cry! Put on that flirty act for me, you hear me?!"
A bright red handprint instantly appeared on her cheek. Terrified, Wang Mengyu choked back her tears and did her best to muster a sultry gaze.
Seeing her expression, Lao Zhang broke into a twisted, hideous laugh.
The knife in his hand slid lightly across Wang Mengyu's white sweatshirt, tearing it open to reveal her bright red bra underneath.
Lao Zhang's expression grew even more frenzied as he involuntarily began to confess, "For you, you slut, I even killed my own wife! It's all your fault! You love to flirt, you tease every damn person you meet, and then you don't put out! Who could stand that? Who the hell could stand that?!"
As he spoke, the knife in his hand didn't stop. It moved to Wang Mengyu's jeans. As if he were carving the most exquisite sculpture, Lao Zhang focused intently, slowly slicing a small opening in the denim. Through the small cut in the form-fitting jeans, the bright red of Wang Mengyu's underwear bloomed.
Lao Zhang began to pant heavily, his free hand trembling. "Did you know? That stupid wife of mine actually suspected you and I were having an affair. I so wished it were true. A pity it wasn't. But that stupid woman wouldn't let it go. She insisted on fighting with me, insisted on calling you a cheap slut. I couldn't take it anymore! So I strangled her with my own two hands."
As he spoke, Lao Zhang took a deep, long sniff of Wang Mengyu's scent. His expression was one of pure ecstasy, but it suddenly twisted, becoming frenzied and evil once more.
He continued shouting, "Only I—only I am allowed to curse you! Only I can possess you!" His voice grew louder and louder, culminating in a roar: "Only I get to call you a slut!"
A crazed, evil laugh erupted from him. "Haha! I can already feel myself dying! Today, I'm going to rape you to death!"
With that, he slashed down decisively at Wang Mengyu. She squeezed her eyes shut in terror.
When she opened them again, she was completely unharmed. Only her jeans had been slashed wide open.
Lao Zhang immediately tossed the knife aside and started to take off his clothes.
"Brilliant!" The word echoed abruptly through the waste-filled storeroom, accompanied by applause as a figure emerged from the shadows.
Lao Zhang nervously snatched the kitchen knife back up, aiming the blade at the figure.
"You?"
The figure chuckled, not answering the question. Instead, he said, "You heard him, right? You just put your faith in the wrong person. When seeking revenge, you have to find the right target. I'll take care of this man. You can go on to your next life now."
Lao Zhang grew even more tense. "What do you mean? You're spouting nonsense! I'll kill her!" He pointed the knife at Wang Mengyu.
The figure snorted. "Stubbornly unrepentant. If it wasn't for you, why would I have waited this long? Truly, birds of a feather flock together. You two are a match made in heaven, so you can just die together!"
A sinister wind whipped through the walled-in storeroom, and a series of ear-splitting shrieks, so sharp they were painful, echoed in the air.
Before the ghostly apparition could fully materialize in the wind, the figure's hand erupted with lightning, and a bolt of Celestial Thunder struck Lao Zhang down.
Sparks of lightning still crackled on the charred corpse, but the figure was already gone.
Bound hand and foot, Wang Mengyu struggled, making muffled noises, her eyes filled with panic. After a long while, as if exhausted, she stopped. Her gaze calmed, slowly turning to one of pure resentment.
'Are you f*cking kidding me?!' she raged internally. 'You have the guts to save me, but you can't be bothered to untie me? You save my life, but you're too scared to see something you shouldn't? You just wait, Chen Dong! For this "great favor" you've done me today, I swear I'll repay your kindness with malice!'
Finally, with no other choice, she began to squirm her body toward the kitchen knife on the floor. Positioning herself over the sharp blade, she started sawing at the cloth strips binding her wrists.
With every saw of the cloth, she cursed fiercely, "You just wait, Chen Dong! You just wait!" But her voice grew increasingly indignant. Then, her hand slipped, and the blade cut her wrist, making her burst into tears.
She directed her fierce words into the empty air, though her tone was now completely pathetic. "You just wait… you just wait… *sob*…"
Meanwhile, Chen Dong, who believed he had made a flawless and anonymous exit, was in an excellent mood. 'This feeling of doing a good deed without leaving your name,' he thought, 'is absolutely incredible.'
