The Master and His Wealthy Fiancée

Chapter 47: Vicious Relatives

The woman's brand-new jewelry and clothes were clearly a recent purchase.

Chen Dong frowned and asked, "What is your relationship to Liang Shiyu?"

The woman snorted. "I'm her aunt. And who are you?"

Chen Dong said coolly, "It seems you've already spent a good deal of her father's compensation money."

At his words, the woman's voice grew shrill. "What do you mean, *her* father's compensation money? That's my brother-in-law's money! What does it have to do with that damned girl? She's just some stray we took in!"

She pointed a wooden stick at Chen Dong and Wang Hao. "I'm telling you, don't stick your noses where they don't belong. Get the hell out of here!"

Wang Hao saw that this woman was even more arrogant than he was. How could he possibly stand for that?

"Brother Dong," he said, "I want to rip her mouth off!"

The woman shrieked, "You two little shits think you can lay a hand on me? Believe it or not, I'll make sure you never leave Tianjiang City alive."

Wang Hao fumed, "This shameless old hag! When she needs someone to 'accompany' some Young Master Yang, suddenly she's a loving aunt. But when it's about the compensation money, she calls the girl a stray."

"Brother Dong, I can't take it anymore! Let me go slap her a few times!"

"You dare interfere with someone Young Master Yang wants? Just you wait! When his men get here, you're all dead!"

Chen Dong chuckled. 'She's certainly got some nerve.' He produced a Silver Needle between his fingers and, with a casual flick, embedded it in the woman.

The woman, who had been insufferably arrogant just a moment before, was instantly rolling on the ground in agony, a stream of profanity spewing from her mouth.

Chen Dong watched in silence until the woman no longer had the strength to writhe on the ground, her curses turning to pleas for mercy.

Only then did Chen Dong retrieve the Silver Needle.

The moment she recovered, the woman glared at Chen Dong with venomous eyes. "What kind of Demon Technique was that?"

Chen Dong said coolly, "Go and get everyone who took a share of the compensation money. Otherwise, you'll experience that pain again, once every hour."

The woman spat viciously, "Fine! I'll go get them! But you've offended Young Master Yang. Even if you know some Demon Technique, you're still a dead man!"

With that, she fled in a hurry.

After the woman was gone, the girl finally lifted her head and said softly, "Uncle Wang, you should all leave quickly! They're vicious, and there are a lot of them."

There was a quiet fragility in the girl's eyes, like that of a blue lotus.

Wang Hao declared bravely, "Don't be afraid, little sister. We're here to help you."

Liang Shiyu shook her head. "I'm not afraid. I just... miss my dad. Dad always said my uncle and his family are vicious people we can't afford to cross. So please, Uncle Wang, and you two big brothers, you have to leave. They'll be here soon!"

From her words, and the scissors he noticed hidden in her sleeve, Chen Dong could feel the girl's profound despair.

If they hadn't come today, those scissors might have been her final escape.

A murderous aura slowly began to rise within Chen Dong.

He gave a soft cough to compose himself. Then, in a gentle but firm voice, Chen Dong said, "We're not going anywhere today. We'll stay right here with you."

The girl's eyes reddened. "Then... I'll go boil some water for you to drink," she said softly.

With that, she deftly picked up a battered old kettle and went to fill it with water.

Wang Caifu let out a heavy sigh. "With Old Liang gone, that poor girl... it's just too pitiful. We thought if we couldn't get the money, worst case she'd just have to stop her studies. But now, those relatives of hers won't let her go at all!"

Wang Hao fumed, "Who the hell is this Young Master Yang, acting so high and mighty? If we were in Jiangzhou, I'd teach him a lesson he wouldn't survive!"

Wang Hao had never been able to stand such dirty tactics; otherwise, he wouldn't have offended Huang Tao back then.

'Now there's some Young Master Yang to deal with,' Chen Dong thought. Worried this would delay An Ruoling's treatment, he called Tang Dan and told him to bring the person over.

A moment later, Liang Shiyu returned with the kettle and three bowls.

She poured the steaming water into the bowls and presented them to Chen Dong and the others with both hands.

Not minding the heat, Chen Dong raised his bowl and took a large gulp just as a clamor erupted outside.

He set down the bowl, stood up, and said, "Little sister, watch me get back what's rightfully yours."

Outside the dilapidated, tile-roofed house, a fleet of motorcycles was parked.

A gang of men carrying an assortment of clubs and knives strode forward. The woman from earlier pointed at Chen Dong. "That's the punk!"

Wang Hao's courage wavered at the sight. He knew Chen Dong could fight, but there were so many of them. They had the yard completely surrounded, and all of them were armed.

He quietly asked Chen Dong, "Brother Dong, what's the plan?"

"Just a small skirmish," Chen Dong replied coolly.

Their leader was a middle-aged man who looked like he'd struck it rich overnight. He glanced at Chen Dong out of the corner of his eye. "Some little punk dares to meddle in my business?"

"And you are?" Chen Dong asked.

"I'm Liang Jiaceng's older brother. Who do you think I am!" the man said arrogantly.

A glint flashed in Chen Dong's eyes. He sent the man flying with a single slap, knocking four or five teeth from his mouth.

"That slap was for Liang Jiaceng."

Seeing Chen Dong dare to strike first, the crowd immediately raised their weapons and charged.

Chen Dong leaped directly into the crowd. His figure weaved through them as he took them down one by one, using the severity of Wang Caifu's injuries as a benchmark for the punishment he dished out.

One by one, the thugs were left clutching their heads and arms, wailing in agony.

The nouveau-riche man, Liang Jiahao, was terrified. He had never witnessed such skill before.

Chen Dong hauled the man up by his collar. "Hand over the money you all divided up!"

All the arrogance gone, the man's face was a grim mask. "The money's all gone! We spent it all!"
