Chapter 27: Yours is the Worthless Life
In a luxury suite at the Jiangzhou Hotel, Tang Dan lay naked on the bed, the lower half of his body pierced by Silver Needles.
His face was flushed red with excitement as he bore the treatment.
He could feel an unprecedented sensation stirring in his manhood.
For decades, he had sought out famous doctors, but even the great medical sages of Beijing were helpless. His condition was congenital—the meridians in his manhood were withered and dead, all the way to his kidneys.
This made it impossible for both Eastern and Western medicine to repair or replace the meridians, leaving it useless for anything but urination. No amount of stimulation could elicit the slightest reaction.
But now, he felt something, however faint.
This made him even more certain that Chen Dong could cure him in three days, just as he'd said.
After the acupuncture session, Chen Dong and Tang Dan walked out of the bedroom. In the living room, Li Huiran and Mu Wanjun were waiting, drinking tea.
The moment Tang Dan stepped out, Mu Wanjun shot to her feet and rushed to support him, her eyes asking the question on her mind.
Tang Dan knew what Mu Wanjun wanted to ask. He wrapped his arms around her excitedly and roared, "I can feel it, Wan Jun! I can feel it!"
Mu Wanjun's eyes welled with tears. She let out a soft sound of affirmation and nodded vigorously, again and again.
Tang Dan laughed heartily. "Wan Jun, go get the contract."
After getting the contract, Tang Dan handed it to Chen Dong.
Without even looking at it, Chen Dong passed it to Li Huiran with a heartbroken expression, then took out his phone and started composing a text message.
Li Huiran took the contract, gave it a quick look, and her face lit up with joyful surprise. "Boss Tang?"
Tang Dan nodded and said, "I told you, as long as you could cure me, Land Plot No. 5 is yours, free of charge."
Li Huiran's eyes curved into crescents as she smiled. "Thank you so much, Boss Tang!"
Tang Dan waved his hand. "No, no, I should be thanking you! The Tang Family has had only one heir for several generations. If the family line were to end with me, I would be a disgrace to my ancestors!"
Chen Dong said, his voice laced with mock anguish, "Stop, don't say another word. My heart is breaking! I've texted you the prescription. For your condition, my True Qi alone isn't enough for a full recovery. Your withered meridians won't regenerate out of thin air; they will draw on your body's latent potential. You must use the herbal formula to support the process."
"Remember, boil five bowls of water down to one. Drink it once a day for seven consecutive days. Also, if you want to have a child, you must not have intercourse for these seven days. I'll give you one more treatment tomorrow and another the day after, and that will be all!"
Tang Dan asked, his voice trembling, "Mr.... Mr. Chen, are you saying... I... I can have intercourse now?"
Chen Dong cocked his head and looked at him. "You can have intercourse right now if you want, but the... quality won't be ideal. If you want a child, you'll have to bear with it for seven more days."
Upon hearing this, Tang Dan and Mu Wanjun embraced, weeping with joy.
On the way back, Li Huiran was in high spirits. She put the top down on her silver Ferrari, sped up, and started singing at the top of her lungs.
Her singing rose and fell erratically, a demonic wail assaulting the ears. Chen Dong, unable to appreciate it, quickly told her to stop. "Stop singing! It sounds horrible."
Chen Dong's mental evaluation of Li Huiran now included "tone-deaf" right alongside "terrible temper."
Li Huiran rolled her eyes. "I wasn't singing for you. You can cover your ears!"
Chen Dong met her glare with a cold look of his own. "The bonus for getting the land was supposed to be two hundred thousand. Now that you got it for free, how much are you going to give me?"
"I'm in a good mood, so name your price for the bonus. But I have to ask, I never see you spending it. What do you need so much money for anyway?" Li Huiran asked casually.
Chen Dong replied just as casually, "Saving up to get married. As for the bonus, I want a million!"
Suddenly, Li Huiran's mood wasn't so great anymore.
"In your dreams! It's two hundred thousand, take it or leave it!"
Anger instantly flared in Chen Dong. "You woman!"
"Hmph! What about me?"
"You're infuriating!"
Li Huiran retorted spitefully, "I'd be better off if you were!"
Chen Dong turned his head away, not bothering to argue with the woman.
A phone started ringing. It was Li Huiran's. Her expression soured the moment she answered.
At an intersection, she made a U-turn. This wasn't the way back to the company.
Chen Dong asked, "What happened?"
Li Huiran's face was grim. "There was an accident at the Zequan Construction Site," she said in a low voice. "Seven workers are dead."
Hearing this, Chen Dong's brow furrowed as well.
The two of them arrived at the Zequan Construction Site, where a manager in a white hard hat came running over.
His face was covered in sweat. "The small crane on the roof," he said, frantic and distraught, "it suddenly fell and crushed them all to death. General Manager, we..."
Li Huiran's face was dark. "Take me to the scene."
The three of them reached the scene, which had already been cordoned off with yellow tape. A large, crimson bloodstain covered the ground next to a wrecked crane. The bodies had already been taken away.
The manager pointed upward. "The small crane was installed right up there. It's been in use for a long time without any problems, but today it just suddenly fell."
Chen Dong focused his gaze on the spot, then said with a hint of killing intent, "This was sabotage!"
Li Huiran and the manager were both stunned.
Sabotage? Before either of them could ask, Chen Dong kicked the manager aside, grabbed Li Huiran, and leaped backward.
A WHOOSH filled the air as several steel support pipes impaled the spot where they had just been standing.
The color drained from Li Huiran's face. If it weren't for Chen Dong, she would have been killed by those pipes.
Seeing a figure high above, Chen Dong told Li Huiran to get away.
A sharper whistling sound cut through the air. Chen Dong made a grasping motion, and dozens of pebbles on the ground were drawn into his hand. He flicked them toward the incoming throwing knife.
The first pebble collided with the throwing knife, sending sparks flying. The pebble shattered, but the knife continued on. It smashed through ten pebbles in a row before it was finally knocked from the air.
Chen Dong gave chase, pursuing the figure.
He cornered the figure on the unfinished rooftop of the building.
The man wore a Tang suit. He was tall, with a sinister face, and his right hand had six fingers.
The six-fingered handprint on the small crane... it was undoubtedly this man who had pushed it.
Chen Dong's killing intent radiated from him as he asked, "Why did you kill seven innocent people?"
The six-fingered man sneered. "I, Cui Hong, don't need to explain my actions to you. I killed them because I felt like it!"
"You're courting death!"
Cui Hong mocked him. "You could barely even stop my throwing knife, and you dare to talk so big?"
"The only reason I 'barely' stopped it was because I was afraid you'd run away!"
With that, Chen Dong lunged forward.
Cui Hong drew two more throwing knives, infused them with True Qi, and hurled them at Chen Dong. "Let's see you stop these."
The knives flew with incredible speed, coming straight for him. But Chen Dong, brimming with killing intent, had no desire to dodge. He planned to charge right through.
Because a straight line is the fastest path!
Pinching a Silver Needle between two fingers, he tapped it against the tip of the incoming knife. The blade shattered into pieces.
With a flick of his wrist, the Silver Needle shot out and struck the second knife from the air.
Seeing his throwing knives utterly defeated, Cui Hong exclaimed in shock, "I underestimated you! You're actually a Grandmaster! But even if you are a Grandmaster, you will die today!"
Facing Cui Hong directly, Chen Dong threw a punch. Cui Hong met it with his six-fingered palm.
From that single blow, Cui Hong was forced back eight steps, while Chen Dong hadn't moved an inch. Chen Dong pressed his advantage, surging forward again.
Cui Hong's expression changed drastically. "We're both Grandmasters!" he shouted. "Why must we fight to the death?"
Chen Dong didn't answer, instead unleashing a flurry of punches, each one brimming with True Qi.
Cui Hong didn't dare to face him head-on, repeatedly dodging and retreating. "The Huang Family hired me! I'll back off now and stay out of your affairs! Let me go!"
Chen Dong halted his attack, the killing intent in his sharp, star-like eyes undiminished. "You will die today, without a doubt!"
Cui Hong's face twisted in disbelief. "All because of those seven worthless lives?"
Chen Dong glared, gritting his teeth. "Yours is the worthless life!"
He extended his left arm, fingers spread wide. "Yellow Springs Dao—Cyan Dragon Binding Kill!"
An expression of utter terror appeared on Cui Hong's face. "NO—!" he shrieked. His body, as if bound by a giant dragon, began to twist unnaturally in mid-air. His flesh and bones were continuously crushed, and fresh blood streamed from his seven orifices as he coughed up mouthful after mouthful.
Then, as if his entire body had been compressed to its absolute limit, blood began to seep from his pores. Finally, with a wet POP, he exploded in a shower of blood, like a firework of gore in the sky.
Chen Dong's face was grim. 'Huang Family... here I come.'
