Chapter 99: Gambling Again!
"Give me your contact." Terrence stood up from his chair and clicked his digital watch against Ulyssia’s to transfer the details.
"Does this mean that I can actually buy a beast from you?" Ulyssia asked, her voice carrying a mix of surprise and hesitation.
"Yeah. I will contact you as soon as it is ready," Terrence said, turning his back to her as he began removing parts of his tactical gear one by one.
Ulyssia stared at him with a thoroughly confused look. She remained completely baffled even after their entire conversation, but the sheer trust she placed in Terrence was visibly inspiring.
Terrence couldn’t help but look forward to this lucrative commission.
"How do you even provide the beast?" she asked, stepping slightly closer. "Do you capture one and force a contract on it? Or do you nurture it from scratch?"
Terrence paused his movements and simply gazed at Ulyssia with an indescribable, intense look. Recognizing the silent boundary, she became quiet immediately.
"Sorry... I shouldn’t have asked," she mumbled.
"I will contact you later, so..." Terrence eyed the room’s front door suggestively.
Ulyssia seemed to have understood the clear hint right away. She stood up immediately, straightened her clothes, and left Terrence’s room without another word.
Finally, the time was all for him now.
With a growing understanding of how the Gacha Shop operated, Terrence was deeply expecting something great from it tonight.
’It can make any beast nurture insanely fast using that specialized necklace. The Gacha Shop already rewarded me with an extraordinary artifact like that once before. And honestly, I don’t think its inventory is limited to just that.’
Terrence flopped down onto his comfortable bed, letting out a heavy breath before opening the floating Gacha Shop interface.
’Shit... I was originally thinking of rolling something big with a Gold Pull, but it looks like my current budget is falling short.’ Terrence bit his lower lip hard as he reluctantly decided to change his initial pulling plan.
He navigated over to the Ticket Shop section and purchased all 20 Tickets available, spending a grand total of his remaining 200 million plus credits.
With all 20 Tickets secured in his digital pouch, he navigated back to the main Gacha Shop interface to execute two Bronze Pulls.
’I still have at least 50 million remaining in my overall fund. I guess... this is all the liquid cash I can use to officially launch the Beast Shop business,’ he thought, his eyes focusing intently on the glowing interface of the Gacha Shop.
However, he grimaced deeply at the sobering thought that he only had 50 million credits left in his bank account. He had initially planned to spend around 400 million credits on building and outfitting the physical Beast Shop, but it seemed like he had to completely scratch that grandiose plan for now.
Besides, the Gacha Shop promised him far better things than standard commercial construction!
’First, I pulled the Merging Incubator. Then came the Evolution Booster... I really hope I pull something surprisingly useful this time at least. My entire business blueprint relies heavily on the wonders of the Gacha Shop.’
Terrence knew his current business plan sounded reckless on paper, but it wasn’t stupid enough that he lacked faith in it. He was absolutely certain that any system reward he pulled would prove immensely helpful in raising and maintaining beasts. Therefore, starting out from a tiny physical stall wouldn’t be impossible at all.
He took a slow, deep breath as the virtual pulling sequence finally started to roll.
Sinking deep into his soft mattress, Terrence’s eyes reflected the vibrant flashes of colors emanating from the Gacha Shop menu. A few sharp flickers of golden light danced across the air as metallic cards appeared right before his eyes. The familiar, rhythmic sequence of the draw played out seamlessly in front of him.
Three cards representing the first Bronze Pull started rolling across his vision. Once the rotation stopped, Terrence mentally selected his choice, causing the first chosen card to be set aside while the next set of three bronze cards materialized.
The complex brown and ancient-looking cards, coated with a dirty, antique surface texture, blurred past his eyes once again.
He took a quick glance at the set-aside card before returning his sharp focus to the three spinning cards in front of him.
After a few agonizing seconds, the animation halted completely, and he selected his second bronze pull.
Terrence gulped heavily with intense anticipation, offering silent prayers in his head while hoping for an amazing item pick.
Then, the first selected card slowly flipped over.
[Beast Net (Bronze)]
[Description: You can use this specialized net to capture C-Rank to B-Rank Beasts! Their remaining physical health will directly determine the overall catch rate success! Good luck!]
Terrence felt his fingers twitching violently from the very second he finished reading the item description printed on the card. The text was somewhat vague, but he immediately understood its immense practical value.
It was almost identical to the exact tool he had been visualizing in his mind.
Terrence realized that he could still run a highly profitable beast shop even if the System didn’t grant him actual living beasts to put on sale. He could simply go out into the wild to catch beasts using the net, nurture them rapidly using the Evolution Booster, or even just sell them off directly right after capturing them.
Securing beast cores wouldn’t be a problem for him at this point anyway. With the overwhelming combat power of his two high-rank beasts, he could easily farm lower-rank dungeon rifts for raw beast cores and nurture any captured beasts through normal means.
The entire concept sounded completely plausible, and he knew deep down that this business model would work.
Seeing the Beast Net’s distinct icon materialize before him as its official details were printed across the card face, Terrence observed that it looked like a standard hand net used to capture butterflies or small insects. However, Terrence felt intuitively that it was vastly different. Of course it was—it was a magical artifact generated directly by the System!
"Well... well... looks who is getting lucky this time around! I guess all the terrible luck I suffer in daily life works completely in reverse whenever it comes to high-stakes gambling, huh!" Terrence muttered ecstatically to himself as the new item dissolved and entered his virtual Inventory, settling right alongside the stored Merging Incubator and Evolution Booster.
Then, the second card floated up into the center of his vision. Accompanied by a dramatic burst of intense golden light—which looked completely different from the standard bronze pull animations—his eyes widened in absolute shock as the revolutionary result presented itself.
"What the hell!"
[Beast Core Generator (Gold)]
[Description: Rare Lucky Pull obtained from a standard Bronze Pull! You no longer have to worry about your ongoing beast core supply! You can now generate high-quality beast cores on your own, albeit through a slightly darker method. Feed the generator at least five wild beasts on a monthly basis. The quantity and quality of generated cores will vary based on the rank of the sacrificed beasts!]
"Shit! Fuck yes!" Terrence gasped out loud, instantly flipping over onto his stomach against the soft mattress as he excitedly kicked his legs and buried his face into the pillows, completely overwhelmed by the thrilling wave of pure joy.
