Chapter 42: Determination and Goals
Boss, a powerful enemy, usually stronger and more significant than ordinary enemies,
Enemies so strong that the player must defeat them, often at the end of a level, dungeon, quest, or story when they’ve powered up enough
Bosses even take a whole game’s servers to defeat, a testament to their strength
"However, that’s usually the case, why the hell are the bosses usually at the end of the story popping up now!"
Recalling the names Dr Lannister said before he fell, Ethan couldn’t help but sigh
Abyss the King of Monsters, the Demon King of Requiem, and Marionette the Puppet Master, all three of them were villains that at their peak it took Imperion, Arthur and the league of heroes to gather to defeat
"Abyss turned a whole city to his kingdom and demonized millions of citizens with his ability, Marionette almost controlled the world discreetly controlling most high levels of the federation and the demon king of Requiem, he was one of the most trouble"

Grabbing his hair, Ethan looked at his muscles, of which practically none existed
Floating in the sky, his vision had long since become dizzy as a side effect of overdrive
However he knew he couldn’t afford to fall here, the live broadcast was still going and a symbol of peace he couldn’t afford to appear weak
Taking a glance at the drones, Ethan knew no doubt that the league of villains behind this incident was watching him
Perhaps if he appeared too weak, one of them might come up and finish the job
Thinking of this, he placed his hand on his ear
"Lilith, tell Tempest I’ve taken out Lannister and the monster, I’m going home for now"
"I’ll leave the city to you!"
Talking into his communicator, he felt his strength rapidly depleting, the side effects of overdrive were vanishing
If nothing else, the rebound was on its way

With a sonic boom, he flew through the sky headed towards his home as fast as he could, making sure to keep his eyes open
So much so that he didn’t notice that his datafication ability was already filled with a series of prompts

With the absence of Imperion and Dr Lannister, the battle did not stop

Beside him were Lilith and Emilia who had come as reinforcements
After dropping off Sentinel in a nexus hospital, she had met up with Emilia who wanted to protect the city too
Not only that but other heroes such as Arthur and a few others had taken up the mantle once again to protect the city
With the aberrant king gone, they were more than enough to handle everything
"Firstly Tempest, don’t call me cold missy, this one’s name is Emilia Ra~"
"And I’m only here to protect my lord’s city, so do your job and stop talking so much Ra~"

Turning a group of monsters into ice pillars, Emilia sneered at Tempest as she continued to fight
So what if he was part of the twelve, as long as it wasn’t her lord Imperion, Emilia felt she had no reason to respect anyone
As for Lilith, she ignored both of them, commanding countless blood spears to rain towards the monsters as her mind raced in the clouds
’Ethan should probably have plundered overdrive by now, but is that okay!’
’If he uses it wrongly, things could end up badly’
Thinking this as she attacked, Lilith couldn’t help but curse herself for being weak, if she was stronger, none of this would have happened
Ethan wouldn’t have needed to fight a level five villain when he was weakened
And he wouldn’t need to use overdrive
For a while, her mood turned sour as her attacks almost turned indiscriminate

Everywhere her blood spears landed, countless explosions occurred, destroying both monsters and property alive
"Damn fine Lilith, I won’t call you vampire lady anymore but watch out with the blood spears!"
Dodging a spear narrowly, Tempest thought she attacked him because of what he said
However Lilith like before just ignored him as he thought about Ethan once more wondering if he was okay
Especially that explosion she saw not long ago, it made her feel like Ethan was probably pushing past his limit
Had she not promised him to take care of Sentinel and Tempest, she would have rushed back to his side
Fortunately, just as she was struggling with whether or not to go back, a somewhat tired voice came through the communicator in her ear
"Lilith, tell Tempest I’ve taken out Lannister and the monster, I’m going home for now"
"I’ll leave the city to you!"
Hearing this, Lilith instantly stopped attacking, and Tempest dodging another blood spear sighed in relief
"Thank God you’re alright," she whispered under her lips
However, even then a smile didn’t appear just yet on her face as this incident once again reminded her of her own weakness
"Never again, after this mess, I’m not coming out till I break through level 5"
"And league of villains, you dare target our city, I’ll be sure to drain your blood myself"
Muttering to herself, she looked in the direction of Ethan’s fight and the clearing smoke with unparalleled determination
