Chapter 111: Unclouded Clarity, Flawless Acuity
The model was a miniature, dynamic replica of Silver City, capturing and mirroring its every movement in real time. The dean of the Supernatural Academy was drinking tea in his office. Instructor Wang was scolding students like an enraged gorilla. A street vendor on the road outside the academy was preparing grilled sausages and spicy chicken noodles.
Yu Xian also saw several of Nora's bodyguards patrolling nearby. One of them asked his companion for cash, then walked over to the vendor and ordered two servings of spicy chicken noodles. Although Yu Xian had always known that Nora had bodyguards protecting her from the shadows, this was the first time he had perceived them with such absolute, piercing clarity.
Farther away, workers were repairing a road, a woman was buying groceries, a chef was cooking, and a team of police officers was lying in ambush for criminals.
With unclouded clarity and flawless acuity, Yu Xian felt more clear-headed, sharper, and more brilliantly capable than ever before. He felt as if he held the entire city in the palm of his hand. As long as he wished, he could appear anywhere.
In the past, he needed spatial bubbles for teleportation. Even Spatial Leap required the coordinates of a spatial bubble to lock onto his position. But now, he no longer needed any coordinates. The entire city was his coordinate. As long as a place was within the range of Super Smell, he could arrive there instantly.
The Perfect Lifeform also possessed this terrifying reconnaissance ability. If it had not been affected by Hu Weijie and influenced by demonic energy, it would have been unimaginably difficult to deal with. Moreover, if it had focused solely on hiding, perhaps no one would have been able to find it. Fortunately, precisely because it was stupid, Yu Xian was able to obtain this ability.
Suddenly, Yu Xian created a bubble to protect himself again. Chen Ling, who sat in front of him, had farted. He did not want to breathe in her stink. Until now, he was under the illusion that he had already become a god. But Chen Ling's fart dragged him right back down from the altar. He helplessly looked at her.
Chen Ling, who was zoning out at the desk in front of him, noticed his stare, shifted her butt, then turned back and asked with a completely innocent expression, "What?"
"Nothing..." Yu Xian wanted to say something, but stopped himself. In the end, he still could not bring himself to say it.
Farting was just a normal human function. One couldn't exactly forbid another person from doing it. Fortunately, vampires did not fart. They did not even need to poop.
He lightly tapped the spatial bubble and filtered out smells such as farts, feces, and household garbage. The city model appeared in his mind once more.
He sensed a driver falling asleep at the wheel and the truck crashing violently through the guardrail of a Southern District overpass. Pedestrians on the streets below looked up to a vehicle hurtling down from above. There was no time to react, let alone dodge.
However, just in time, a bubble in the shape of a hand formed out of thin air and descended, holding the truck in midair. When the pedestrians came back to their senses, they hurriedly scattered out of the way. Yu Xian controlled the bubble to set the truck down before withdrawing it.
Yu Xian had always been able to change the shape of his bubbles. It just consumed a great deal of his mental energy. He had to form the specific shape in his mind before he could manipulate his Spatial Blood Energy to alter the bubble's shape. But with Super Brain, he could quickly create bubbles in any shape he wanted, be it square, star, or even a hand or long spear.
Currently, his bubbles were visible all across Silver City. A building was billowing black smoke. Before the firefighters could arrive, bubbles entered the building and rescued everyone trapped inside.
At the edge of a residential neighborhood, a child had fallen into the water. A hand-shaped bubble scooped the child out.
In the industrial district in the northern region of the city, a young factory worker, heartbroken over a breakup, was about to harm herself. The moment she fell, a bubble caught her and slowly floated down to the ground as she stared blankly in confusion.
To Yu Xian, all this was merely something he did in passing. It did not even use one percent of his brainpower. But to the people he saved, it was enough to change the course of their lives.
Yu Xian took out his phone. As he unlocked it, Zhang Kai happened to call him. He picked up the call and, before Zhang Kai could even ask anything, directly explained, "Captain Zhang, I'm the one controlling the bubbles. Also, there's a supernatural being before you named Li Dehan. He was responsible for a missing-persons case ten years ago, so arrest him while you're at it. The victim's body is buried fifty meters beneath a tree in his yard, with a dog's body buried above it as a decoy."
The sudden manifestation of so many hand-shaped bubbles had terrified several supernatural beings, prompting them to report the anomaly to the authorities. When Zhang Kai had seen the photos they sent, he immediately thought of Yu Xian's bubbles. That was why he had made this call. However, Yu Xian already knew everything that had happened in the Public Security Bureau, so he just told Zhang Kai the answer directly.
Zhang Kai sensed how busy Yu Xian was just by his tone, then turned around in complete confusion to look at one of the supernatural beings who had gone to the Public Security Bureau. It was a man who appeared honest and simple. When the man noticed Zhang Kai looking over, he immediately let out a harmless smile.
Although it was somewhat hard to believe, Zhang Kai understood Yu Xian too well. Yu Xian would not joke about something like this.
Zhang Kai immediately walked toward Li Dehan with a smile while signaling the surrounding officers to prepare for an arrest. "Mr. Li, please come over for a moment. There are some matters we need your cooperation in investigating."
Through the scent model, Yu Xian watched Zhang Kai attempt to arrest Li Dehan, only for Li Dehan to violently resist. In the end, Li Dehan fled the Public Security Bureau, making a desperate run for it while shouting to the surrounding crowd that the Combat Police unit was brutalizing civilians.
The ensuing chase left a trail of absolute chaos in its wake, turning the streets upside down. Finally unable to watch the trainwreck any longer, Yu Xian took control of a hand-shaped bubble and knocked Li Dehan flat with a brutal punch, putting a swift end to the farce.
The mechanism allowing Yu Xian to control and spawn spatial bubbles at any location throughout Silver City was actually very straightforward. Through the large number of ultra-fine bubbles in the grooves of his fingerprints, he transmitted the energy from the core of the Dragon Shield into a certain bubble. Once that energy wrapped around the bubble, he could freely control it and teleport it anywhere within Silver City.
His attack range was now enormous, and his striking speed was extremely fast. As long as an enemy was within his perception range, he could probably hit them before they even realized he existed. During the span of a single math class, he had saved more than a dozen people, caught three thieves, found six wanted criminals, and helped the police knock out a criminal who had taken a hostage.
Although there were certain things he did not want to track, even if he blocked them out, blank spots would appear in the Silver City model inside his mind. Those blank spots represented the blocked-out smells of farts, feces, household garbage, and the like.
Through those blank spots, he knew that Chen Ling had farted three times during one class period. The entire class had farted more than fifty times, averaging one to two times per student.
A vampire's sense of smell was much sharper than that of an ordinary human. Nora's expression had changed several times during that class, clearly suffering greatly from the farts of her classmates around her. Unfortunately, she had no way to speak of her suffering.
Yu Xian was powerless to help. After all, when people wanted to fart, not even gods could stop them.
