Apocalypse: I Can See Health Bars

Chapter 130 - 129: Flying Sword and Pot Lid

At Lin Fan’s command, Chu Zhaozhao controlled the two spearheads, making them weave in and out of the beat-up sedan like sewing needles.

Though the blades sometimes got stuck on the anti-collision beams, she had learned from last time and could pull them out with ease.

Seeing Chu Zhaozhao grow more and more adept at controlling these two "Flying Swords" made especially for her, Lin Fan nodded in satisfaction.

Each blade weighed less than six pounds, and her energy consumption was stable and completely acceptable.

"How do they feel?"

Lin Fan stood behind her, watching as she happily sent the two Flying Swords zipping back and forth. Even after piercing the car’s sheet metal doors, the blades showed no signs of wear.

"They’re so sharp! And so cool!"

Chu Zhaozhao excitedly flew the two blades back into her hands, her eyes shining as she spoke.

"They’re lighter than the last one, but because of their shape, the killing power hasn’t been reduced by much!"

"Then these two weapons are yours,"

Lin Fan said decisively, seeing her excitement. But then he remembered his own "Unnamed" spear and added:

"Why don’t you give them a name..."

"Thanks, Big Bro! Name them? Let’s call them ’Dual Poles’!"

"Let’s... not."

"Then let’s just call them Flying Swords!"

"Perfect!"

Lin Fan gave her a thumbs-up.

"You can also make the blades spin to cut things, or put them back-to-back to create an invincible electric fan. You’ll have to figure out the specifics of how to use them yourself..."

He directly shared some of his ideas, but Chu Zhaozhao would have to develop her own fighting style through practice.

With Chu Zhaozhao’s exclusive weapons sorted out, the group’s overall combat effectiveness had been raised a notch.

The next step, naturally, was everyone else’s weapons...

Lin Fan planned to give everyone a lite version of the "Unnamed" spear!

His own spear was solid and weighted from end to end, but the others clearly didn’t have the strength for that yet.

This was especially true for a "normal person" like Chu Zhaotian. A spear weighing over ten pounds would be too difficult for him to handle, and Lin Fan had no intention of having him face Mutated Zombies.

But the weapons still needed to be made. So, Lin Fan had Wu Haitao figure out how to weld the spearheads onto steel pipes, creating four lite versions of the "Unnamed" spear, which he then distributed to the four of them.

"Wow! I get one too!"

Chu Zhaozhao said in pleasant surprise when she saw that there was a new spear for her as well.

"Of course there’s one for you. There’s another surprise for you later. You’re one of our main fighters, after all..."

Lin Fan said, ruffling her hair.

Everyone was overjoyed as they looked at their new weapons.

Even Chu Zhaotian was ecstatic. Although he couldn’t use the spear yet, Lin Fan had still given him one.

"Brother Lin, could you ask Brother Wu to make me another steel pipe? This one with the spearhead is still a bit heavy... But don’t worry, I’ll train hard so I can start using this spear soon!"

Chu Zhaotian came to Lin Fan’s side and said with a determined gaze.

"Ah, sure. How about this... If any of you have requests for your weapons, just talk to Brother Wu directly. We’re all on the same team, so don’t be strangers..."

Lin Fan announced to the group.

"That’s right, that’s right,"

Wu Haitao wiped the sweat from his forehead. ’He must be putting me on the spot,’ he thought, and quickly added his support.

"We’re all one team, one team..."

"In that case, Brother Wu, could you help me cut another radiator pipe? It doesn’t need to be that long, one and a half meters is fine..."

Chu Zhaotian was the first to speak up. He asked for the steel pipe to be shortened for two reasons: it would be easier to maneuver inside a trash can, and it would be lighter, increasing his endurance.

"There are pre-cut radiator pipe spears in the supermarket. If you could grab another one, young man, I’ll cut it shorter for you."

Wu Haitao said, glancing around.

They had used up all the spears they brought, and there likely weren’t any spares in the stairwell.

Ever since Liu Bin found out where Lin Fan got his weapons, he had organized people to collect all the old radiator pipes from the street-facing buildings. Now, if they wanted more, they’d have to search the buildings deeper inside the residential complex or go to the supermarket.

"Go get one from the supermarket."

Hearing what Wu Haitao said, Lin Fan spoke directly to Chu Zhaotian, who was standing beside him.

"Mine should be shortened a bit too..."

Xu Qian said quietly.

Though he didn’t show much excitement, the way he clutched the iron-headed spear tightly to his chest made it clear he was very fond of his new weapon.

The problem was that the weapons were just spearheads added to their existing steel pipe spears, making the length less than ideal.

Su Qing and Chu Zhaozhao had more health and greater strength, but they were shorter, so their spears also needed to be shortened.

Shortening them was simple; they just had to cut a section off the back end.

In no time, the modified spears were back in their hands. Chu Zhaotian returned from the supermarket with a new spear, and Liu Bin came back with him.

"You must be tired. Let’s eat first..."

Liu Bin said, holding up a plastic bag.

"Flatbreads. With some meat filling."

"Wow, it smells so good!"

Chu Zhaozhao was the first to dart out at the scent. She hadn’t eaten a proper meal all day, and the smell of hot food was making her mouth water.

It was the same for the others. Becoming an Awakened One gave them great strength, but it also made them get hungry faster. Even though they all carried snacks, their stomachs were still rumbling now that it was mealtime.

Chu Zhaotian handed his spear to Wu Haitao and lowered the side panel of the RV, turning it into a makeshift dining table.

"Sister Qing, come with me..."

Lin Fan grabbed a piece of flatbread from the table and stuffed it into his mouth. Seeing that everyone else was devouring their food, he poked Su Qing and pulled her into the clinic.

"Ta-da! Look!"

Lin Fan picked up a "shield" from a table in the clinic and showed it to her.

"Ooh—!"

Su Qing glanced at Lin Fan, then playfully tapped his shoulder with the hand she’d just used to eat the greasy flatbread. She laughed and said,

"You put so much effort into Zhaozhao’s weapons, and you’re trying to fool me with a pot lid..."

What Lin Fan was showing her was indeed the matching lid for the iron pot that had been smashed earlier that day. It was made of stainless steel and was fifty centimeters in diameter.

Unfortunately, aside from the handle on top, it looked nothing like a shield.

Su Qing knew that Lin Fan wouldn’t just give her a pot lid as a shield; he must have some other purpose. She watched him playfully, waiting to see what trick he had up his sleeve.

Seeing that the anticipation from his audience was at its peak, Lin Fan had a thought, and a round, black badge appeared in his hand.

Lin Fan could always pull strange things out of thin air like Doraemon. Su Qing was already used to it, but she still watched him with great interest, her big eyes twinkling.

Under Su Qing’s curious gaze, Lin Fan slowly pressed the badge in his left hand against the pot lid in his right...

Su Qing froze on the spot. Even though she was fully prepared for something ridiculous to happen, the moment the two objects touched, she realized her imagination hadn’t been nearly wild enough.

In an instant, the pot lid seemed to lose its physical form, gradually transforming into a blurry, translucent mass of blue energy.

Even after Lin Fan removed his hand, the mass of energy remained suspended quietly in mid-air, trembling continuously as if held together by some invisible force.

Su Qing’s eyes went wide as she stared at the scene, not daring to breathe for fear of blowing the blue halo of light away.

"What is this...?"

Su Qing’s gaze darted back and forth between Lin Fan and the glowing orb. At this point, she couldn’t comprehend what she was seeing.

"Your new shield."
