Chapter 221 - 121: The Big Shot is Truly Impressive
The moment the two fell back, the mountain stronghold below erupted.
"BOOM—"
A deafening explosion echoed through the heavens.
The stronghold was razed to the ground, and countless splinters of wood and stone shot out like a torrential downpour.
The mountain of Demon corpses was thrown into the air by the violent blast wave, scattering in all directions and turning into a rain of corpses from the sky.
"ROAR—"
Immediately after,
a dragon’s roar, filled with majesty and savagery, resounded across the land.
Jiang Mu’s eardrums throbbed with a piercing pain, and a loud ringing filled his head.
It was as if countless bronze bells were ringing simultaneously inside his skull.
The Qi and Blood in his body churned uncontrollably. His organs felt as if they were being viciously squeezed and kneaded by a giant, invisible hand. A sweet taste rose in his throat, and he almost coughed up a mouthful of blood!
Ji Hongyuan’s reaction was lightning-fast. With a wave of her fair hand, a blood-red barrier shielded him as she pulled him back several dozen feet.
If she hadn’t, the terrifying sonic wave would have likely shattered his organs.
"What’s happening? What was that?"
Jiang Mu shook his dizzy head, the ringing in his ears still sharp.
Ji Hongyuan stood on a giant rock, her long, gold-and-red dress whipping in the fierce wind.
Her elegant brows furrowed tightly. Her beautiful eyes stared down at the ever-collapsing, dust-choked pit below, and her voice was laced with solemnity and ice:
"I never expected that a Demon Dragon was being suppressed beneath this seemingly insignificant little stronghold.
Judging by this aura... its Cultivation Level is at least Tier Eight!"
"A Tier Eight Demon Dragon?!"
Jiang Mu’s pupils shrank, and his mind went blank.
’How did another Tier Eight Great Demon just show up?!’
’This isn’t Fire Dragon Cliff. Where did a dragon come from?’
Ji Hongyuan’s eyes were piercing. She said in a deep voice, "This Demon Dragon must have been sealed here long ago by a Great Power and fallen into a deep slumber.
It’s no coincidence that this band of Demons built their stronghold on top of the seal.
On one hand, they might have been using the draconic energy leaking from the Demon Dragon to nurture some special Magical Artifact or to cultivate a wicked technique. On the other hand... this itself is a trap.
Once the stronghold suffered a devastating blow, or if they were forced into a desperate situation, it would trigger a mechanism to forcibly awaken the Demon Dragon and break its seal.
At that point, the awakened Demon Dragon, in its fury, would attack indiscriminately. No intruder would be able to escape!"
A chill ran down Jiang Mu’s spine as he listened.
’These Demons... they’re so insidious and vicious.’
He subconsciously turned his head to look at the Pig Demon that had just tried to escape.
He saw it lying motionless in a nearby pile of rubble, bleeding from its seven orifices. A large pool of dark red blood was spreading out from under its body. Clearly, the dragon’s roar just now had killed it instantly.
Ji Hongyuan also glanced over and said lightly:
"That stupid creature probably didn’t expect the commotion of the Demon Dragon’s awakening to be so terrifying. A Tier Eight Demon, especially one from a top-tier bloodline like the Dragon Race, naturally possesses a certain degree of control over space.
Once its oppressive Divine Sense is unleashed, nothing within its range—not even a fly—can hope to escape, let alone run."
Jiang Mu’s expression turned grim. He asked in a low voice:
"So... we’re trapped?"
"Yes."
Ji Hongyuan nodded, her tone calm but tinged with helplessness.
"Then what do we do? Just wait here to die?"
Jiang Mu tightened his grip on his long saber, but a wave of powerlessness washed over him.
Faced with a Tier Eight Demon Dragon, all his techniques were like children’s toys—completely insignificant.
Ji Hongyuan narrowed her bewitching, dark gold eyes. She looked at the roiling, scorching smoke and the faint, dark red glow rising from the pit, and said lightly:
"What’s the rush? We wait."
"Wait?"
"Yes. Let’s wait until they’re done fighting."
"They? Who’s ’they’?" Jiang Mu asked, even more confused.
The words had barely left his lips.
"BOOM—!"
Another tremendous boom.
A brilliant radiance, as clear as a spring and as blue as the sea, shot up into the sky from the bottomless, dark pit.
Wherever the radiance passed, the scorching smoke and dust were dispersed.
The savage dragon’s might also seemed to have been diluted somewhat.
Immediately after, an even more furious and violent dragon’s roar sounded.
A colossal dragon—covered entirely in jet-black scales, with savage horns on its head and four claws under its belly—burst out of the deep pit, following the blue radiance.
The great dragon was over four hundred feet long. It coiled in the sky, blotting out the sun.
Each of its scales was as large as a millstone, sharp-edged, and shimmered with a cold, dark luster.
Its pair of dragon eyes were like two burning blood moons, filled with savagery and an arrogance that looked down upon all living things. A terrifying dragon’s might swept out like a tsunami, pressing down on Jiang Mu until he could hardly breathe.
And within that pale blue radiance, a graceful figure stood suspended in midair.
It was a beautiful woman in a light blue dress.
She held a round fan that shimmered with iridescent light. Her robes fluttered, and she was wreathed in a mist of water vapor.
Under the terrifying dragon’s might, she stood as proud and unyielding as sturdy bamboo in the wind.
It was Shui Miaozheng!
The black dragon circled once in the air. A black mist swirled around it, and in a flash of light, it transformed into a man.
The man wore a brocade robe embroidered with a black dragon pattern. He was tall and imposing, with a wickedly handsome face. His narrow eyes were dark gold, somewhat similar to Ji Hongyuan’s, but far more domineering and sinister.
His gaze was fixed greedily on Shui Miaozheng across from him, and a wicked smile played on his lips:
"Tsk tsk, I never thought the first person I’d see upon breaking free of this damn seal would be a beauty of such peerless grace... This must be a match made in heaven, a worthy reward for my long, long slumber.
Beauty, the aura about you... is very special. I like it very much. Today, you will stay and become my dragon consort, how about it?"
As he spoke, his gaze shifted and suddenly swept over Ji Hongyuan on the massive rock below.
His eyes instantly lit up even more:
"Oh? I didn’t expect to find such a perfect Celestial Yin corpse here as well. Though it is only a Clone, this primal aura...
