Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable

Chapter 110: Miles York Also Gives Money

The next day, as the sun rose, Chloe York felt a surge of happiness. Today was the third day. Once she finished her jump rope session, she would have completed another mission from the Physical System.

She had never been so eager for a mission to end.

She knew just how miserable getting a cold and a fever was, and how much it would set back her studies.

So, she didn’t want to get sick. Now that the Physical System could help her prevent that, she had to be proactive, of course.

After her classes ended for the day, Chloe York shouldered her backpack, ready to go home.

"Hey, Chloe, why do I get the feeling you’ve been in a huge rush to get home these past two days? Are you hiding someone new in that little room of yours?"

"Of course not!"

"Really? Then why are you in such a rush? You never used to be like this."

"I was just thinking that since our evening self-study sessions were finally canceled, I can get home earlier. It’s a good chance to work through a few more practice problems, so no time is wasted."

Stella Winters was genuinely impressed, never imagining Chloe York was in such a rush just to do more practice problems. She couldn’t help but give her a thumbs-up. "Chloe, you really don’t let a single moment go to waste. If you don’t end up the top scorer in the college entrance exam, then I don’t know who else is qualified."

"Thanks for the compliment. Do you want to come over today?"

"I can’t. My mom told me to come home early. Besides, I can’t be distracting our future top scorer!"

Chloe York smiled and didn’t insist.

’I need to hurry back and jump rope, too. Once I finish today, I’ll have completed another mission for the Physical System. Then I’ll never get a cold or a fever again. Just thinking about it is wonderful.’

To her surprise, she saw Miles York just as she reached the school gate. The day before yesterday, it had been Alice Cole. Yesterday, Miss Prescott and Sophia Quinn. And today, it was Miles York.

’Looks like I’ve been pretty busy these last few days!’

Miles York saw Chloe York as well and hurried over. "Chloe, school’s out!"

"What do you want?" In stark contrast to Miles York’s enthusiasm, Chloe York’s tone was much colder.

"Well, I was just thinking that you must be under a lot of stress from your studies lately, Chloe. So, Dad wanted to take you out for a nice meal to help you relax."

"That’s not necessary. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going." Chloe York’s tone was impatient; she had no desire to talk to Miles York any more than she had to.

’He and Alice Cole are two of a kind. He’s probably here to try and persuade me for Brooke York’s sake, just like her.’

’The two of them are ridiculous. Brooke York’s grades are bad, but instead of helping her improve, they just want me to do worse on my exams. They’re insane!’

"Chloe, come on. Even though I’m not your biological father, you’ve still called me ’Dad’ for over ten years. And for all those years, I’ve raised you like my own daughter. So, isn’t it perfectly normal for your father to take you out for a meal?"

"I won’t take up much of your time. I know you need to study and don’t have time to waste. It’ll be quick, at a restaurant right nearby."

"And I promise I won’t talk about anything else. I have nothing I need to ask you. It’s really just a meal."

Miles York continued to persuade Chloe York, giving off the distinct impression that he would keep pestering her there if she didn’t agree. He made it clear that he wasn’t looking for a favor, it was purely for a meal.

Besides, Chloe York was already hungry. Finding a place to eat on her own would take about the same amount of time.

"Fine. But it can’t be too far. I have to get back to my studies."

Seeing Chloe York agree, Miles York beamed. "Great, great! No problem. It’s very close."

She followed Miles York to a restaurant that was, indeed, quite close—only a ten-minute drive from school.

Moreover, Miles York had obviously already booked the private room. The moment they arrived, waiters began bringing out the dishes. It was clear he had timed everything for her arrival.

"Chloe, look. I ordered everything according to your favorite tastes. What do you think? If there’s anything you don’t like, you can order something else. I’ll just have them make it for you."

"This is fine." Chloe York picked up her chopsticks and began to eat without any ceremony.

’After all, if I don’t eat, Miles York will just keep wasting my time. He’ll just wait for the "right moment" to say whatever it is he really wants to say.’

Seeing Chloe York dig into the food he had ordered, Miles York felt pleased.

’No matter what, I raised this girl for more than ten years. She’s my daughter. And more importantly, she’s a daughter who brings me prestige. Last time, she refused to help me by putting in a good word with Mrs. Prescott, but in the end, she didn’t even have to do anything. Mrs. Prescott spared my company just for her sake.’

Fifteen minutes later, Chloe York set down her chopsticks. She was full.

"Finished already, Chloe?" Seeing her put down her chopsticks, Miles York, who had barely eaten himself, also set his down and asked.

"Yes. If you have something to say, just say it directly. If you’re going to ask me for help like last time, the answer is no."

"No, no, not at all, Chloe. Dad didn’t come to you for help this time. Last time, Mrs. Prescott spared our family’s company on your account. I wanted to invite you home for a meal to thank you properly, but you weren’t willing to come."

"So this time, I came to find you and take you out to eat instead."

As he spoke, Miles York suddenly pulled out a bank card. "There’s a million on this card. Take it."

Chloe York’s gaze fell to the card, then moved back to Miles York. "Why are you giving me money?" she asked.

"You’re my daughter, and you’re still a minor. I have a duty to support you. I know you haven’t asked the family for a single penny since you left home, and Alice Cole hasn’t given you any money either. That was my oversight."

"You must take this card..." Before Miles York could finish his sentence, Chloe York reached out and took it. "Fine. I’ll take it."

’His wife, Alice Cole, offered me five hundred thousand just to flunk my exams. This guy is offering me a million with no strings attached. I’d be an idiot not to take it.’

Her immediate acceptance, without any of the expected back-and-forth, caught Miles York completely by surprise. He had even prepared a whole speech to convince her to take the card, fully expecting her to refuse.

Seeing Miles York’s stunned expression, she said, "What? You don’t look very happy that I took this."

Chloe York had noticed his expression was off, prompting her question.

"No, no, I’m very happy you accepted it," Miles York said hurriedly, snapping back to his senses.

"Alright then. I’ve taken it, you’re happy, and we’ve finished eating. I’m heading back." With that, Chloe York stood up to leave.

"Wait, Chloe, there’s one more thing."

"What is it?" ’Don’t tell me he’s also going to ask me to throw my exam scores.’

"After your college entrance exams are over, I want to throw an acceptance party for you."

"An acceptance party?"

"That’s right. Your grades are so good, you’re bound to get into a great university. So, I want to hold an acceptance party for you. It’s a good thing for you, too—something worth celebrating!"
