Chapter 204 - 203: Filthy Thing
"Yes, Boss. I’ll send people to handle it right away."
The manager waved to the other security guards on duty, signaling for them to head over.
Yvonne Lowell walked past the group as if they weren’t even there. Two servers instinctively bowed to her. "Hello, Boss."
Hearing this, the woman leading the group darted past the security guards and blocked their path.
Her eyes fixed on Leo Grant. She tugged her already revealing tube top down a bit further, her gaze obsessive.
"Hey handsome, are you the owner of Prosperity Pavilion? Your employees are so clueless. How dare they try to stop me?"
Leo Grant’s brows furrowed. He ducked behind Yvonne Lowell. "Sweetheart, why is there such filth in your Prosperity Pavilion?!"
Yvonne Lowell didn’t move, simply watching the woman before her with a half-smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes.
The woman’s expression twisted for an instant before she turned to look at Yvonne Lowell.
Although Yvonne Lowell’s gaze unsettled her, she still looked at Yvonne Lowell with an imperious air.
"So you’re the real boss. Perfect. Let me in right now, and make sure you arrange one of your best private rooms for me."
Yvonne Lowell calmly raised an eyebrow. "And why would I do that?"
"You!" The woman’s face turned livid. "What kind of attitude is that? Do you have any idea who my aunt is?!"
’Tsk,’ Yvonne Lowell thought, ’suddenly my eyes feel unclean. Her face is already ugly enough, but she has to keep twitching it. Isn’t she afraid that nose—sharp enough to skewer someone—is going to get bent out of shape?’
Yvonne Lowell casually cleaned out her ear. "What does your aunt have to do with me? It’s not like she’s *my* aunt."
The two servers couldn’t help but snicker, quickly covering their mouths.
They were all professionally trained; they didn’t laugh easily—unless they absolutely couldn’t hold it in.
The woman pointed a finger at Yvonne Lowell. "You bitch! My aunt is the Governor’s Wife! Believe it or not, with a single word, I can make sure this place of yours can’t stay open in Continent R!"
The next second, the tactical baton from Warren Lynch’s belt cracked against her wrist. He then drew a gun and pointed it at her.
"If you don’t want that hand anymore, I can help you."
’A scare should be enough,’ he thought. ’Can’t dirty up Miss Lowell’s territory.’
"AHH!!" the woman shrieked in pain, clutching her hand. "You’re dead!!"
She had clearly heard a sharp CRACK. Her bone was definitely broken.
Warren Lynch chambered a round and jabbed the gun forward. "You don’t want your mouth anymore, either?"
The lackeys she had brought with her were all scared stiff, standing frozen as they watched the scene unfold in terror.
Yvonne Lowell waved her hand. "Warren Lynch, our guest is a guest. Be a bit more civilized."
Warren Lynch obediently put his gun away and scratched his head in embarrassment.
"My apologies, Miss Lowell. I was too rash."
As he spoke, he couldn’t resist sneaking a glance at Leo Grant, the true instigator.
Yvonne Lowell took half a step forward, raising a hand to grip the woman’s chin.
"You just said... the Governor’s Wife is your aunt?"
The woman’s chin throbbed with pain. She glared at Yvonne Lowell with pure venom.
"That’s right! This isn’t over! I’ll make my aunt ensure you all pay for this!"
"Wow, I’m so scared. I’m truly terrified."
Though she said the words, Yvonne Lowell’s expression was flat, showing not a single shred of fear.
With a look of disgust, she shoved the woman’s face away. The seemingly light push sent the woman sprawling to the floor.
Yvonne Lowell took a sanitizing wipe from the manager’s hand and nonchalantly wiped her fingers.
"Since that’s the case, why don’t you call your aunt? Have her come and bail you out."
The woman’s pale face was filled with scorn. "You? Are you even worthy? Do you think my aunt is someone you can see just by asking?!"
Yvonne Lowell’s lips curled. "You know, you’re right about that. What’s wrong? Scared to call her? If you don’t dare, I can do it for you."
"Hah. You think just any random nobody has my aunt’s contact information? Go on, call her if you can! I’d love to see what tricks you have up your sleeve."
Seeing that Yvonne Lowell wasn’t bluffing, the woman felt a flicker of panic, but she forced herself to maintain a calm facade.
True to her word, Yvonne Lowell took out her phone. "What’s your name?"
"Why should I tell you? You said you know my aunt, didn’t you? How could you possibly not know who I am?"
Yvonne Lowell couldn’t be bothered to speak with this brain-dead, single-celled organism. She turned her head to look at the woman’s little posse.
One of the more quick-witted ones immediately spoke up. "Her name is Alisa."
The woman, Alisa, whipped her head around to glare at the one who had answered, the hatred in her eyes practically taking physical form.
"Alisa, is it? Listen closely now. See if this is your aunt’s voice. Wouldn’t want you to cry at the wrong grave."
Yvonne Lowell gave a mocking smile, dialed a number, and put the call on speaker.
The call was answered instantly. A middle-aged woman’s pleasantly surprised voice came through the speaker. "Little sis! What’s with the sudden call? Did you miss me?"
’That... That’s the Governor’s Wife’s voice, no doubt about it! But why is she calling this bitch ’little sis’!?’
Yvonne Lowell looked at Alisa with that same unreadable smile and spoke into the phone.
"Sister-in-law, let me ask you something. Do you have a niece named Alisa?"
Everyone present, with the exception of Leo Grant, stared at her in utter shock.
The Governor’s Wife often accompanied the Governor to interviews, so her voice was familiar to the public.
Leo Grant was stunned for only a moment before he went back to casually playing with her fingers.
’He’d seen his share of major scenes. So what if his sweetheart called the Governor’s Wife of Continent R her sister-in-law?’
’To use one of his sweetheart’s favorite phrases, it was ’no big deal.’’
"Alisa? I think the daughter of a distant cousin might have that name. But we’re so distantly related we’re practically strangers; she’s certainly not my niece. Why the sudden question? Did she offend you?"
The moment the voice on the phone finished speaking, the way Alisa’s lackeys looked at her changed completely.
"Oh, not exactly. She’s at the entrance to my Prosperity Pavilion, claiming the Governor’s Wife is her aunt. She says if I don’t let her in and give her the royal treatment, she’ll make sure my Prosperity Pavilion can’t stay in business in Continent R.
She looks like a repeat offender. Who knows how many times she’s been out there, pulling this sort of thing under your name."
Yvonne "Honest Abe" Lowell reported the facts. ’Not a single fabrication,’ she thought. ’People as sincere as me are hard to find these days.’
"She dares to use me for clout?! I’m going to have a talk with her family right now!" The Governor’s Wife’s voice on the other end was filled with undisguised contempt.
"Little sis, if she’s made you angry, do whatever you want with her—kill her, torture her, I don’t care. When you’ve had your fill, send her over to me. I’ll deal with her family, so don’t you worry. Your big sister-in-law will handle everything for you!"
Alisa, her face a mask of terror, shrieked at the phone. "Auntie! It’s me, Auntie! My mother only has one daughter! You can’t do this!"
"Address me as the Governor’s Wife. Don’t go around claiming connections you don’t have. Does every Tom, Dick, and Harry think they’re worthy of calling me ’Auntie’? So what if your mother only has one daughter? It wouldn’t matter to me if she were barren."
’Whoops. Why does that line sound so familiar? It’s almost like I just heard it from someone else’s mouth.’
Yvonne Lowell looked down imperiously at the blubbering, snot-nosed heap on the floor, but her tone was that of a perfectly behaved young lady.
"Sister-in-law, she didn’t just threaten me, she also called me a bitch. Is it okay if I break one of her arms and a leg before I send her over?"
