Death Game in another world

Chapter 69—The First Heavenly Seal.

Chapter 69—The First Heavenly Seal.

The silence that followed the shutdown of the Void Gate Array was heavy, absolute, and almost serene.

For the first time since their arrival in Sector 0, the choking purple mist dissolved entirely into thin air. High above the Core Basin, the bruised violet clouds parted, allowing beams of clear, twilight light to pierce down into the abyssal crater. The rivers of toxic dark matter crystallized into harmless, inert black quartz along the canyon floor.

SYSTEM CLEARANCE RATE: 100%

A massive, golden holographic banner flickered across the sky above the Imperial Citadel and every surrounding region, visible to thousands of registered players, local lords, and hidden factions across the realm.

"Look at that sky..." Ignis muttered, leaning against his claymore as he wiped soot from his face. He stared up at the clear twilight with a look of genuine disbelief.

"I’ve served the Imperial Guard for fifteen years, and I’ve never seen the sun over these mountains without a purple haze covering them."

" It’s not just clear," Ren said, his eyes glowing behind his analytical visor as data streams cascaded down his screen.

"The environmental decay debuff is completely gone. In fact, the local mana density just recalibrated to pure elemental origin! Our passive mana regeneration rate increased by forty percent across the board!"

Lyra stepped up beside Kaelen, her holy staff resting lightly against her silver armor.

The golden crest on the back of her hand slowly diminished to a faint, soothing warmth—the distant, loving presence of her sister Elena reassuring her that the high altar in the Citadel was once again secure.

"The air is clean now, Kaelen," Lyra whispered softly, her bright blue eyes shining as she looked up at his side profile. She reached out, her gloved fingers gently curling around his hand. "You didn’t just clear a monster nest... you saved this entire region from being consumed by the void."Kaelen didn’t immediately answer. His dark violet eyes were fixed on the glowing orb resting within his right palm.

The crystal he had extracted from Malakor’s deactivated core was no longer violet.

As Kaelan’s internal Void Origin resonated with the artifact, the outer dark shell dissolved into fine stardust, revealing a golden, teardrop-shaped emblem etched with ancient runic script.

As the golden seal sank smoothly beneath Kaelen’s skin, a fleeting, ice-cold sensation passed through his consciousness.

For a millisecond—a fraction of a second so brief it felt like a ghost of a dream—the chaotic battlefield vanished. Kaelen felt a strange, rhythmic beating sound in his ears. Beep... beep... beep... It sounded like a rhythmic metallic pulse in a silent, sterile room, accompanying the faint scent of antiseptic and cold glass. Deep within his soul, a distant whisper echoed: ’Find the Grail... break the cage...’

Then, in the blink of an eye, the sensation evaporated. The rocky crater of Sector 0 returned, bathed in the twilight sun.

Kaelen’s expression remained entirely impassive, though his dark eyes narrowed ever so slightly.

’A seal... one of seven,’ Kaelen thought smoothly, his mind calculating with absolute, cold precision. ’The System presents this realm as a game of survival, but these seals are anchors binding something much larger. Seven keys to unlock the Supreme Relic... the Holy Grail.’

He closed his hand, sealing the newly acquired power deep within his mana core. He didn’t need to rush. With five hundred floors and endless realms stretching above them, this world was a vast chessboard waiting to be conquered piece by piece.

"Lord Kaelen," Tsubaki’s voice broke his solitude.

The shadow-shinobi materialized silently from the shadow of a fallen stone pillar, his newly evolved black katana resting at his waist. He dropped to one knee before Kaelen, his head respectfully bowed.

"The perimeter is clear," Tsubaki reported crisp and sharp. "The remaining low-tier Abyssal spawns have dissolved into raw essence without Malakor’s anchor.

Furthermore, the System rewards have been distributed to the party’s registry."

"Fifty million gold coins?!" Ignis nearly choked on his breath, his eyes bulging out of his head as he looked at his personal interface menu. "And a fifteen percent stat boost for the entire party?! Is this a joke?!"

"It’s no joke," Ren chuckled, tapping away on his wrist gauntlet with a proud grin. "That’s the reward for clearing an EX-Grade hazard zone that was supposed to be impossible for our current progression tier. But more importantly... look at the territory panel, Kaelen."

Ren projected a glowing blue map of Sector 0 onto the air between them. The entire region, previously marked in dark red as a lethal hazard zone, was now highlighted in a rich, regal violet.

"Because you delivered the final strike on the core anchor," Ren explained, pointing to the center of the map, "the System has registered Sector 0 not as imperial territory, but as Private Faction Territory belonging directly to you. We now control the entire perimeter wall, the lower mines, and the central portal."

Lyra smiled warmly, leaning closer against Kaelen’s shoulder. "That means we have a permanent base of operations, Kaelen. A place where neither the Imperial Court nor the rival guilds can dictate terms to us."

"A base is only as strong as the fear it inspires in its enemies," Kaelen purred smoothly, his low velvet voice carrying a dark, intoxicating weight. He turned his gaze toward the center of the inverted pyramid, where a towering, forty-foot stone pillar had emerged from the ground.

The stone pillar was etched with intricate golden runes, glowing with a steady, serene light—the Central Waystone. It was the gateway connecting Sector 0 to the higher floors and the central capital of the Upper Realms.

"Tsubaki," Kaelen commanded softly.

"My lord," the assassin responded instantly from his knee.

"Set up shadow sentinels along the upper perimeter ridge. The Vaelorian Empire and the surrounding player guilds will soon send scouts to investigate the clearing of the rupture. Anyone who crosses the border without my express permission is to be eliminated on sight."

"It shall be done, Lord Kaelen," Tsubaki replied with cold, lethal absolute loyalty. Quickly of dark shadow, he melted into the obsidian floor, vanishing to execute his orders.

Kaelen then looked toward Ignis. "Inquisitor."

Ignis straightened his back, instinctively standing at attention under Kaelen’s authoritative gaze. "Yes, Sovereign?"

"Return to the Citadel. Inform Empress Vaeloria that Sector 0 is no longer a disease threatening her empire. It is now the sovereign domain of my faction. If she wishes to maintain her treaty and trade access through the central portal, she will pay the required tax in raw mana crystals and forging materials."

Ignis swallowed hard, but there was no hesitation in his eyes. He had witnessed Kaelen dismantle a Tier-SSS General with two fingers and a single sword stroke. The Empress was powerful, but Kaelen was a force of nature.

"I will deliver your terms personally, My Lord." Ignis bowed deeply, his heavy iron armor clanking against the stone, before turning to march back toward the upper ridge.

Ren stepped forward, touching a button on his console. "I’ll start setting up automated defense turrets and spatial barriers around the Waystone using the raw materials from Malakor’s array. By tomorrow, this crater will be an unassailable fortress."

"Good," Kaelen said smoothly.

As Ren moved to begin his technical setup, Kaelen turned his attention to Lyra. He reached out, his dark hand gently taking her chin, lifting her face so her bright blue eyes met his dark violet gaze.

"You fought well today, my light," Kaelen whispered, his thumb lightly caressing her lower lip. "Your sister’s bond sustained your strength, but it was your resolve that kept our vanguard standing."

A soft flush of rose pink dusted Lyra’s cheeks, her heart hammering against her ribs at his tender yet possessive touch. She leaned up on her tiptoes, gently resting her forehead against his chest plate.

"I am your sword and your shield, Kaelen," Lyra murmured softly, her fingers wrapping tight around his coat. "Wherever your path leads—no matter how many floors we must climb or how many gods we must cut down—I will be by your side."

Kaelen wrapped his arm tightly around her waist, pulling her flush against his body as he looked up at the towering Central Waystone.

The first of seven Heavenly Seals was now etched into his soul. The Abyssal Gate Array was destroyed, Sector 0 was his personal domain, and the path to the Upper Realms lay wide open before them.

The grand game was vast, spanning five hundred floors of blood, magic, and cosmic trials. But as the golden light of the Waystone began to pulse in sync with the Void Blade at his hip, Kaelen allowed a cold, arrogant smile to curve his lips.

"Let the upper realms prepare," Kaelen whispered into the quiet twilight air. "Their true master is coming."
