Chapter 147: 147: MAGIC UNDER PRESSURE
--------------------------
The dressing room was filled with loud complaints and heated arguments before Coach Lincoln stepped inside. The players were very upset about the late penalty they conceded, and the heavy tension made the room feel very hot.
Fernandes stood in the exact middle of the room with an angry look on his face, and he was blaming the defenders for the bad mistake. The experienced captain pointed his finger directly at the backline, complaining that they were too relaxed and confused when the ball bounced away from their control.
He strongly felt that the defense was not communicating properly, and this lack of focus caused the team to lose their clean sheet.
However, the defenders refused to stay quiet and accept all the heavy blame. Brooks stood up from his wooden bench, crossed his strong arms, and defended his teammates.
He said that they weren't too relaxed at the back, but rather, the forwards were not making proper use of their scoring chances. Brooks argued that the attackers had many good opportunities to shoot inside the opponent's penalty area, but they wasted the ball by joking around instead of scoring goals. The loud voices echoed across the locker room, and the team spirit looked like it was slowly breaking apart.
Just as the loud argument reached its peak, the heavy wooden door swung wide open, and Coach Lincoln stepped right in.
The manager got very angry with the poor performance he had seen on the pitch and the terrible behavior he was witnessing inside the dressing room.
He threw his tactical clipboard onto a nearby table with a loud bang, which made the entire room fall silent in shock. He glared at the arguing players and said,
"Instead of you to sit down and think on how you win this game, all you could do is to shout on yourselves like little children?"
He walked around the quiet room, making sure every single player looked him directly in the eyes. Then, he delivered a very stern warning to wake them up from their bad mood.
"This second half will be the game that will determine your stand in this squad," Coach Lincoln said with a deep and serious voice.
"If you relax on the pitch or make unnecessary mistakes during the play, you will sit on the substitute bench throughout the entire season, unless you work hard and prove yourself to be there again."
This strict statement was a direct threat from the coach,it was short but powerful
The players quickly took it as a strong personal challenge. They wanted to prove that they were true fighters, so they drank some cold water, left the room, and went straight to the pitch to start the second half.
------------------------
The referee blew his whistle, and the second half started with a lot of intense energy. Blackpool played their absolute best because they desperately want to equalize the score and win the match in front of their loyal home fans.
They moved the ball with great speed and pressed high up the pitch to force quick mistakes. On the other side, Leeds United also were not relenting, because they want to seal the win immediately and take all three points back to their own city.
The visitors made several dangerous counter attacks, but the Blackpool defenders stayed strong and cleared the ball away safely. The intense midfield battle continued until a beautiful moment arrived at exactly the 59th minute.
Blackpool pushed forward aggressively, and a Leeds United defender was forced to kick the ball out of play, which meant Leeds United conceded a corner kick. Fernandes jogged over to the corner flag to take the set piece, and the tall Blackpool defenders ran into the opponent's box to fight for the ball.
Fernandes raised his hand to signal a special tactic, and he played it perfectly by whipping a fast, curving cross toward the near post. Brooks made a fantastic run, jumped much higher than everyone else, and used his strong forehead to head it straight into the net. The ball flew past the diving goalkeeper, and the stadium announcer shouted,
"Goaaaaaaallllll!"
The home fans jumped from their bright orange seats and cheered with massive joy. Brooks ran toward the corner flag and slid on his knees to celebrate, and Fernandes hugged him tightly because they had finally equalized the tough game.
After the amazing equalizer, the match became much more interesting and fast-paced. Both teams wanted to find the winning goal, so the tackles became harder and the passes became much quicker.
At the 65th minute, Coach Lincoln decided it was the perfect time to bring fresh energy into the midfield. The fourth official raised the electronic board, and William and Eric were coming in for Coleman and Barco.
The tired veterans clapped for the fans and gave high-fives to the young substitutes before leaving the green grass. William stepped onto the pitch, now playing in his preferred position, Central Midfield.
He was ready to show his talent, but the reality of the fast game hit him very hard. Immediately William entered the pitch, he felt heavy and pressured because it had been a very long time since he played competitive football on the big pitch.
The speed of the Premier League players was overwhelming, and the Leeds midfielders closed him down in a matter of seconds. William tried to hold the ball and make a quick turn, but a strong opponent pushed him off balance and made a clean tackle to steal the possession.
Within his first few minutes on the field, he lost so many possessions due to bad passes and slow decision-making under high pressure. The home fans groaned slightly when he gave the ball away, and William felt a cold sweat form on his forehead as he struggled to find his normal rhythm.
A few minutes later, the fast ball was kicked out of bounds by a Leeds defender, and the play stopped for a brief moment. When the ball went out for a throwing near the home dugout, Coach Lincoln walked quickly to the touchline, called William over, and told him to listen closely.
The wise manager placed his warm hand on the young boy's shoulder and looked straight into his worried eyes.
"Stay calm boy," the coach said in a very supportive and gentle voice.
"I know it is very fast out there, but I need your magic in this game, so please find it and show them what you can do."
These kind and powerful words felt like a massive booster for the nervous young player. The heavy pressure lifted from his shoulders, and William's feet came back to life with a brand new sense of confidence.
He ran back into the midfield position and bravely demanded the ball from his teammates. William started to master the midfield, perfectly controlling the tempo of the tight game. He knew that he doesn't have the massive physical strength of the older players, but he used his incredible vision to destroy the Leeds midfield structure.
He scanned the open spaces quickly and predicted the opponent's movements before they even happened.
Blackpool regained possession near the center circle, and William received a fast pass from the defense. Instead of holding the ball too long, he made a quick one-two pass with Eric to easily bypass the pressing Leeds captain. This smart combination play created a beautiful opening, and William quickly looked up and saw an open space far down the right wing.
Without any hesitation, he sent a perfect, looping cross over the defenders' heads to find his teammate. Valentino got there just in time, controlled the ball smoothly, and made a brilliant low cross directly into the crowded penalty box.
Morgan, the strong striker, fought off his marker and dove forward to head it home into the bottom corner of the net. The ball shook the white mesh, and the massive stadium announcer yelled,
"Gooooooallllllll!"
The entire stadium came back to life again with deafening cheers and wild celebrations. Blackpool did the amazing comeback at the 81st minute, and William jumped into the air with pure happiness, knowing his magical vision had created the perfect scoring opportunity.
The excited home fans sang loud songs of victory, but the players knew that the tough match was not over yet. There were still several minutes left on the stadium clock, and Leeds United continued to press them very hard to find a late equalizer.
The visiting team pushed all their attackers forward and sent long balls into the Blackpool penalty area, deeply hoping to force a lucky mistake.
However, Blackpool completely locked their defense and formed a solid wall of players near their own goalpost. Brooks and Johnson made crucial clearances inside the penalty box, while Eric provided a strong shield right in front of the defensive line.
William ran tirelessly to close down open spaces and intercept loose passes, proving that he was fully committed to the team's success. The Leeds attackers tried every trick they knew, but there is no penetration again into the solid Blackpool box.
Every dangerous cross was headed away, and every shot was bravely blocked. Finally, after a few minutes of added time, the strict referee looked at his watch and blew the final whistle loudly.
The whole stadium erupted in massive cheers, and Blackpool have their first wonderful win in the Premier League. The happy players hugged each other on the pitch, deeply proud of their amazing comeback and their incredible team spirit.
