Chapter 83: 83: KYLE'S TRUE COLORS
The cool breeze from the road brushed against William's face as he pedaled his bicycle away from the training ground, yet the exhaustion in his muscles seemed to fade away the moment he saw the vibrant, glowing signs of a large
shopping mall.
Although his legs felt heavy from the intense drills Coach Lincoln had put them through, William decided to take a detour and stop at the mall because he realized that his wardrobe needed a bit of an update.
He had spent so much time in his training gear and school uniform lately that he felt
it was time to get something new, especially since he wanted to look professional and sharp when he wasn't on the pitch.
As he locked his bicycle at the rack near the entrance, he took a deep breath of the salty afternoon air and adjusted his jacket, feeling a strange mix of excitement and nervousness about being out in public.
As William walked along the busy streets of Blackpool toward the mall's main entrance, he noticed that several people were turning their heads to look at him with expressions of surprise and joy.
It wasn't long before a small group of
teenagers wearing black and green scarves noticed him, and they immediately ran over with wide eyes and bright smiles to ask if he was truly the young midfielder they had seen on television.
"You're William, right? The one who scored that amazing goal!" one of the boys shouted, and William couldn't help but smile as he realized that his name was already becoming quite popular in the town.
He spent a few minutes chatting with them and agreed to take several photos, feeling a surge of pride because he knew that this was exactly what he had always dreamed of. He didn't just want to be another player who came and
went; instead, he wanted to be a legend like Zinedine Zidane, someone whose grace and skill would be remembered for generations to come.
The feeling of being recognized gave William a new sense of energy, and as he finally stepped inside the mall, he felt more determined than ever to succeed on and off the field.
The mall was filled with the sounds of shoppers and the pleasant aroma of freshly baked bread and snacks, yet William remained focused on finding a store that sold high-quality, stylish clothes.
He began searching through the racks of various shops, looking for jackets and trousers that would make him look good while also being comfortable enough for his busy schedule. He wanted to represent Blackpool FC with dignity, and he believed that looking his best was a part of being a true professional athlete who people could look up to.
After browsing through a few different stores, he entered a high-end clothing boutique, and that was when his heart skipped a beat as he saw a very familiar figure standing near the back of the shop.
There, standing near the section for designer footwear, was Kyle, who appeared to be busy picking out some expensive items for himself. William hesitated for a moment, wondering if he should just walk away and avoid another awkward interaction, but then he remembered his father's advice about being the bigger
person and showing kindness to everyone.
He took a deep breath and decided to go
over to Kyle to greet him, hoping that perhaps away from the pressure of the training ground, they could finally find some common ground.
"Hey, Kyle! I didn't expect to see you here today," William said with a friendly tone,
extending a hand in a gesture of peace while he waited for a response.
Kyle turned around slowly, and although he did reply to the greeting, his voice was remarkably cold and distant, which made William feel as if a wall of ice had duddenly been built between them.
The coldness in Kyle's act was so obvious that
it suggested he had heard something negative or incorrect concerning William, likely from Reed or some of the other players who were still holding onto their old grudges.
William felt a pang of sadness because he genuinely wanted the team to be united, so he decided to be direct and honest with the newcomer.
"Look, Kyle, I know you don't like me very much right now, but I really think we can be
friends if we just try," William told him, his voice steady and sincere.
"We are teammates, and I think we should consider being closer so we can help each other on the pitch."
Kyle didn't say anything at first, and he simply stared at William with a look that was filled with a strange mixture of boredom and hidden anger.
After a few long seconds of silence, he finally spoke, but his words did nothing to bridge
the gap between them.
"Listen, William, I'm not against you, and I'm certainly not fighting you for no reason," Kyle said, his voice dripping with an arrogance
that made William's skin crawl.
"I just want to play my football, get my results, and move to a bigger club as soon as possible, so don't take this personal." Kyle didn't wait for a reply, and he simply turned his back and left
William's presence, walking toward the checkout counter without even looking back once.
William stood there in the middle of the aisle, feeling a deep sense of unhappiness because of the attitude Kyle had displayed. He realized that Kyle wasn't interested in friendship or the long-term success of Blackpool; instead,
he was only after money and his own personal career advancement.
It was clear to William that Kyle would not give up his rivalry until he had managed to push
William to the bench completely, and the thought of such a selfish person influencing the locker room made William feel very uneasy.
He saw now that Kyle fidn't care about the badge or the history of the club, and this realization made William feel even more protective of the team he had grown to love.
Despite the frustrating encounter, William decided that he wouldn't let Kyle's negativity ruin his day, so he finished getting the clothes he needed and headed toward the exit.
He felt a sense of relief as he stepped back out into the fresh air, and he quickly unlocked his bicycle and began the ride back home. While he was pedaling through the quiet streets, his mind was racing with thoughts of how he could continue to improve his game without relying on the approval or friendship of someone like Kyle.
He knew that the road to the Premier League was going to be difficult, but he was more determined than ever to be part of those who will help Blackpool promote, regardless of the obstacles on the way.
William realized that he didn't actually need Kyle's friendship to be a great player, and he decided that from now on, he would focus entirely on his own growth and the needs of the team.
He wanted the club to go forward, and if Kyle
wanted to be a selfish player who only cared about moving to a bigger club and achieving names and money, then William and other players who truly wanted the team to succeed would be the one to hold the rest of the squad together. Though he is just a temporary player, but he knew he would try his best.
He thought about the fans he had met earlier and the legend of Zidane, and he felt a
renewed sense of purpose that made his legs feel stronger as he pedaled up a small hill. He didn't need to be liked by everyone; he just needed to be the best version of himself for the people who truly believed in him.
As he reached his residence and put his bicycle away, William felt a sense of quiet victory in his heart because he had stood his ground and kept his dignity.
He carried his bags of new clothes inside, feeling a bit more like the professional athlete he was becoming, and he prepared himself for the next day of hard work. He knew that Kyle would still be there with his arrogance and his
hidden plans, but William was no longer worried about him because his eyes were
fixed on the bigger prize.
He wanted that promotion, he wanted to see Blackpool in the top flight, and he was ready to fight for it with every ounce of his strength.
The encounter in the mall had shown him the truth about his rival, and now that the truth was out in the open, William felt lighter and more focused than he had been in weeks.
He closed his door and sat down to rest, his mind already visualizing the next match and the ways he could help his team move one
step closer to their dream. He was a warrior, and a warrior never lets the coldness of an enemy dampen the fire of his own ambition.
