GEM TALENT

Chapter 68: 68: THE GEM SWANSEA LET SLIP

The time for the massive clash against Swansea City had finally arrived, and the

atmosphere inside the away dressing room was thick with a level of tension that felt almost suffocating to the young players.

William sat on the wooden bench with his head bowed while he focused on his breathing, and he could feel the actual floorboards beneath his feet vibrating with the rhythmic power of

thousands of fans singing in the stands above.

The sound was like a low, persistent thunder that echoed through the thin walls of the stadium, and it made the water bottles on the center table shake and ripple as the excitement teached a fever pitch.

Every player was locked in their own world of deep concentration, yet the heavy silence of the room was filled with the unspoken

realization that they were about to step onto the pitch against the undisputed kings of the league.

Suddenly, the heavy metallic door swung open and Coach Lincoln stepped into the room, his presence immediately cutting through the tension like a sharp blade.

He didn't say a word at first, and he simply stood in the center of the circle while his eyes scanned the faces of his warriors to look for any sign of fear or hesitation in their expressions.

"Listen to that noise out there," Lincoln finally began, and his voice was low and gravelly, yet it was loud enough to command absolute silence from everyone in the room.

"The world thinks we are here just to participate, but I know that this match is going to be incredibly hectic and physically demanding from the very first whistle." He took a deep breath, and as he looked at the squad, his face hardened into a mask of pure,

unwavering authority that made the players sit up straighter in their seats.

"I want all of you to listen to me very carefully tonight, because this is not the time to be against each other or to let personal feelings get in the way of our goal," Lincoln said, and as he spoke, he slowly turned his body to face

Reed, Kyle, and Harris.

The room went deathly quiet as the coach's gaze lingered on the three of them, and it became very clear that he was fully aware of the secret whispers and the tension they had been creating behind the scenes.

William felt a jolt of pure shock shoot through his system because he hadn't realized that the coach was so observant of the locker room dynamics. He had thought that the secret training sessions and the hostile glares were hidden in the shadows, yet here was Lincoln, calling them out in front of the entire team

right before the biggest game of their lives.

Lincoln continued by telling them that the mission for the rest of the season was to remain unbeaten, and his voice carried a weight of expectation that made the air feel even heavier.

"We have worked too hard to let our momentum slip away now, so I expect every man in this room to fight like his life depends on the result," he declared, and several players nodded their heads in firm agreement.

He then reached for his clipboard to announce the starting lineup, and the silence in the room became so intense that the only sound was the

muffled roar of the crowd outside.

"Walker will be our guardian in the goal tonight," Lincoln stated, and the veteran goalkeeper gave a sharp nod while he adjusted his gloves.

"Brooks and Merino will be our two center-backs, and I want them to be a wall that Swansea cannot penetrate," the coach continued, his eyes moving down the list of names.

"Reed will take the right-back position, and Alonso will handle the left-back duties, so I expect our defense to be disciplined and vocal

throughout the ninety minutes." He paused for a moment, and then he moved to the heart of the team where the most important battle would be fought.

"In the midfield, Coleman will be our defensive general, sitting deep to protect the back four and break up their play." William felt his heart skip a beat as the coach looked toward him and Kyle, and he realized that they were being asked to work together in the most difficult area of the pitch.

"Kyle and William, you two will be our central midfielders, and I am expecting you to be the engine that drives us forward while also tracking back to help the defense," Lincoln announced, and the mention of their names together caused a small murmur of surprise among the substitutes.

"Now listen, and I am facing both of you specifically," he added, stepping closer to where William and Kyle were sitting.

"I want teamwork on that pitch, and I want you to play with your teammates instead of trying to satisfy your own ego or prove a point." He looked at them with a sharp, analytical gaze that seemed to warn them against any more

secret rivalries.

"The victory we are chasing is the glory of the entire team, not for any individual, so you must support each other if we are going to win."

William nodded his head firmly to show his readiness to follow the instructions, while Kyle gave a reluctant, stiff nod that showed he was still struggling with his own pride. The coach's words were a clear directive that their personal

battle had to be buried under the turf for the next ninety minutes, because a divided midfield would be a gift to the league leaders.

Lincoln then finished the lineup by naming the attackers who would be responsible for finding the back of the net. "Fernandes will be our captain and will lead us from the left wing,

Valentino will take the right wing, and Morgan will be our lone striker up front," he concluded, and Fernandes stood up to gather the team together for a final huddle.

The coach then turned to the bench and read out the names of the players who would be ready to change the game if needed. "Henderson will be our backup keeper, and we have Johnson, Cole, Harris, Spenser, Barco, Grant, Ibrahim, and Theo ready to come on and give us fresh energy," he announced, and the dubstitutes clapped their hands to show their support for the starting eleven.

The room was now buzzing with a new kind of energy, and the players began to stand up and pull on their training jackets as they prepared to head toward the tunnel. Fernandes, wearing the captain's armband with a look of immense pride, walked around the room and gave each player a firm pat on the back to boost their confidence.

As the players began to file out of the dressing room, the vibration of the fans became even stronger, and the roar of the crowd sounded like a hungry beast waiting to be fed. William checked his studs one last time, and his mind

replayed the coach's instructions about teamwork and the unbeaten mission while

he walked alongside Coleman.

He knew that the match would be hectic and that Swansea would throw everything they had at them, yet he felt a strange sense of calm because he knew exactly what his role was. He glanced over at Kyle, who was walking with a rigid posture and a focused expression, and William made a silent promise to himself that he would be the first one to offer a pass or a covering run to ensure the team succeeded.

"Let's go, boys! Together as one!" Fernandes shouted, and his voice was filled with a passion that seemed to ignite the spirit of every player in the line. The shout was taken up by the rest of the squad as they prepared to step out into the blinding lights of the stadium, and the sound of their combined voices was

louder than the noise of the fans for a brief moment.

William felt a sense of unification that he hadn't felt in days, and he realized that despite the

hostility from some of his teammates, they were all wearing the same jersey and fighting for the same goal.

He was ready to face the pressure and the hectic nature of the match, and he was determined to prove that he was a warrior who

could put the team above his own feelings.

The grass was waiting, the fans were screaming, and the mission to remain unbeaten was about to be tested in the most difficult way possible.

As Fernandes led them out onto the pitch, William felt the vibration of the ground under his feet and the cold wind on his face, and he knew that this night would be remembered for a long time. He remembered that Swansea wanted to sign him, but he rejected them, and he wants to show all of them that Swansea actually lost a gem.

He was a central midfielder for Blackpool, and he was ready to give everything he had to ensure that his team remained undefeated. As he stepped over the white line and onto the lush green turf, William knew that the battle for the Premier League had truly begun.
