The Extra who regained his past life memories

Chapter 176 - day before the birthday

Grandma was speechless for a moment.

"You two weren’t kidding when you said you wanted to become the most powerful."

"Most people don’t even awaken their Aura until they’re fifteen."

"I originally planned to teach you two Aura control, but from what I can see, you already have more than enough control over it."

She thought for a moment before continuing.

"It would be useless for me to teach you two."

"I’m not saying I don’t have things I could teach you."

"But you two have already walked down paths that you carved for yourselves."

"So, if you want, I can guide you."

"But I would recommend something else even more."

"Find your own shortcomings."

"You two aren’t beginners anymore."

"I can tell that even without seeing your swordsmanship."

"You both have a solid foundation."

"All you need now is to continue improving your swordsmanship."

"Am I right?"

Luna and I nodded.

"Yes."

"I recently awakened my physique, and it gave me an unimaginable boost to my abilities."

"So I want to incorporate everything into my swordsmanship."

Luna nodded as well.

"I awakened my Moon Element and my class."

"So I need to incorporate them into my swordsmanship too."

Grandma nodded with a knowing smile.

Then she suddenly asked,

"So, how is your mother doing?"

"I haven’t seen her in a long time."

Luna blinked before answering.

"Oh, she’s doing fine."

"She’s buried in work because my older sister went to the academy."

"Usually, Mom dumps all the work on my older sister and says..."

"’It’s training for her to become the next Empress.’"

Grandma laughed.

"That’s definitely something she would do."

We continued talking about many different things.

I told Grandma about the Secret Realm and everything we had encountered there.

We talked about the things we had experienced, the fun moments, and the strange things we had discovered.

Eventually, I mentioned something else.

"We’re going adventuring after Amy goes to the academy."

Grandma raised an eyebrow.

"You two?"

"Alone?"

I shook my head.

"Mom sent someone to look after us."

Grandma nodded.

"Good."

Then she reached into her belongings and took out two artifacts.

"Here."

"Take these."

"I’m sure your mother gave you something similar."

"These are mine."

"You can use them if you ever find yourself in an unavoidable situation."

She smiled proudly.

"And don’t worry."

"Your Grandma is very strong."

"I can take on anyone."

I nodded.

Then I suddenly remembered something.

"Hey, Grandma."

"Amy’s birthday is only two days away."

"When are the other people coming?"

"We usually celebrate with a small group because Amy and I both don’t like large crowds."

Grandma nodded.

"Hmm."

"They’re coming today as well."

"Most of them have already arrived."

"They’re resting at the moment."

I nodded.

Then, out of nowhere—

"Grandma!"

We all looked toward the entrance.

Amy had appeared there.

She blinked when she noticed everyone staring at her.

"What?"

"Didn’t you see a beautiful person like me before?"

I looked at her annoyingly.

"What are you doing here?"

"Don’t you have work?"

Amy looked at me.

"I’m the one who wants to ask what you’re doing here."

"Aren’t you always cooped up in that room all day?"

I simply waved a hand.

"We finished our objective."

"So now we’re free again."

"And we have nothing to do."

Amy laughed before looking at me expectantly.

"Then can you..."

I looked at her.

"What is it?"

"Spill it."

Amy coughed awkwardly.

"Make a cake for my birthday."

I sighed.

Then I nodded.

"Hmm."

"Alright."

"After all, it’s for your birthday."

Amy nodded happily.

Then she immediately gave me a bunch of instructions about the kind of cake she wanted.

"I want a cake like the one you made for Mom back then."

Grandma raised an eyebrow.

"Oh?"

"You made a cake for my daughter?"

Amy nodded.

"Yes, Grandma."

"He didn’t let us taste his food for months."

"And the first thing he made was a cake for Mom to surprise her."

Grandma listened before nodding with a warm smile.

Then she looked toward Amy.

"So, how are your preparations for the succession?"

Amy immediately put on a smug expression.

"Of course they’re going well."

Soon, all of us began talking about it.

After a while, Elena came in with Amy.

She joined the conversation while Luna talked with her.

Eventually, Amy looked toward me.

"Hey, Gray."

"You have to make the cake today."

I blinked.

"Why?"

She looked at me.

An evil smirk slowly appeared on her face.

"Tomorrow, we’re going to choose new clothes for you and all of us."

"So you won’t have any time tomorrow."

My eye twitched.

"Ah..."

"Amy..."

"For a second, I remembered that I had something important to do tomorrow."

"So, regretfully, I have to ask you to go pick some clothes for me."

Amy looked at me with amusement.

"Oh, really?"

"Do tell."

"What important matter do you have?"

I looked around.

Then I noticed Luna looking at me with amusement too.

My gaze moved toward Grandma.

My eyes suddenly lit up.

"Ah, yes!"

"Tomorrow Grandma is going to train us."

"Right, Grandma?"

I looked at her expectantly.

Grandma looked toward Amy.

Amy immediately spoke.

"Grandma, training is boring..."

But Grandma interrupted her.

"Actually, little Gray is right."

"We canceled the training because you two are already strong enough."

"There’s no need for me to train you."

I gave Grandma desperate eye signals.

But she simply smiled and ignored me.

That was when I realized it.

She had betrayed me.

I looked toward Amy.

She had a half-smile on her face.

"So, Gray..."

"Go on."

"What else do you have tomorrow?"

I opened my mouth.

Then closed it.

Like a fish out of water.

Finally, I sighed.

"Hmm..."

"Fine."

"But only one hour."

Amy simply smirked.

"We’ll see about that when the time comes."

Then Amy looked toward Grandma.

"Grandma, you should come too."

"Let’s choose lots of clothes for him."

Grandma’s eyes lit up.

"Of course."

"It’s for my grandson."

"Let’s be thorough."

Amy nodded happily.

I looked at the two of them and muttered,

"Traitors..."

Amy immediately looked toward me.

"Oh?"

"What did you say, Gray?"

I simply sat down and looked away.

"Nothing."

Amy smiled.

Then she looked toward Luna.

"Luna, are you up for a day of shopping?"

Luna nodded with a bright smile.

"Of course."

Amy nodded.

Then she and Elena left.

I waved at them.

I knew they were busy.

Amy had mainly come here to talk with me and Grandma.

Once they left, I looked toward Luna.

"Hey."

"I’m going to make the cake."

"And some other food too."

"You need to join."

Luna looked at me and smiled.

Then she nodded.

Grandma watched us for a moment before speaking.

"I don’t know how to cook either."

"So I’ll just watch you two."

I nodded.

I couldn’t exactly give Grandma any work if she didn’t know how to cook.

So we entered the kitchen.

I took out a large bowl and began preparing the mixture.

Then I let Luna mix it for the cake.

Partway through, I gave her the cocoa powder to add later.

While she worked, I prepared the cake container and preheated the oven.

Luna mixed everything perfectly while adding the eggs.

When I saw that the mixture had reached the right consistency, I told her to add the cocoa powder.

She did so and finished mixing it.

Then we placed the cake into the oven.

While it baked, we prepared the chocolate mixture for the outer layer.

We worked efficiently together while Grandma simply watched and talked with us throughout the process.

Finally, the cake was ready.

I let it cool down before making sure the outer chocolate layer was prepared properly.

We made three layers.

Once we put them together, I poured the chocolate mixture over the top and let it fall naturally over the sides.

For the spots that didn’t receive enough chocolate, I added some separately.

Then I gave Luna several strawberries.

"Decorate the cake with these."

Her eyes immediately lit up.

She nodded and began decorating.

I took the whipped cream and filled the empty spaces between the strawberries.

Grandma watched us with interest.

Finally, we finished the cake.

We looked at it together.

I turned toward Luna.

"So?"

"How is it?"

She nodded happily.

"It’s beautiful."

"Sister Amy will definitely love it."

I nodded.

Then I asked,

"So, should we make some more food?"

"Or do you want to rest?"

Luna puffed out her cheeks.

"Who are you looking down on?"

I smiled.

"Alright."

We continued working in the kitchen.

I introduced Luna to several different dishes.

I made the pasta while letting her prepare the sauce.

Then we added cheese and the other ingredients before making a large lasagna.

We stored most of it inside my Space Storage and kept some aside for ourselves.

After that, I took out various foods from my Space Storage and placed them inside the Space Ring.

Then I brought out the lasagna and carried it to the table.

It was time for lunch.

I suggested that Grandma eat with us, but she insisted on trying my cooking and joined us.

Not long afterward, Amy came over as well.

The moment she saw us eating lasagna, her eyes immediately lit up.

"Can I have some too?"

We shared some with her.

She happily began eating.

Then she looked toward me.

"So, Gray."

"When are you going to make my cake?"

I casually replied,

"We already made it."

Her eyes widened.

"Where?"

"Let me see!"

I casually answered,

"No."

"If you see it, you’re going to eat it."

"So no."

Amy looked offended.

"Can’t you trust your big sister?"

I looked at her blandly.

"No."

Elena laughed.

"He has a point, Amy."

"I don’t trust you with food either."

Amy glared at her before continuing to eat the lasagna.

"Hmm."

"This is really delicious."

"Do you have more?"

I simply showed her my empty hands.

"No."

"That was the last piece."

Her gaze slowly moved toward Elena’s plate.

Elena immediately hid it.

"Don’t even think about it."

Amy then looked toward Grandma’s plate.

After a moment, she finally abandoned the idea.

Thankfully, Luna and I had already eaten.

Otherwise, her gaze probably would have moved directly toward our plates.

Grandma finished her own plate and nodded with satisfaction.

"Hmm."

"This is really good."

"My grandson is talented at everything."

I scratched my head and pointed toward Luna.

"We made it together."

"Not me alone."

Grandma nodded.

"Yes, yes."

After lunch, Grandma went to meet Mom, while the rest of us returned to our own work.

Eventually, we all met again at the dinner table.

Grandma sat on one side of the table, while Mom sat on the other.

Grandma began talking about her day.

She told Mom how she had spent time with her grandchildren.

Then she mentioned Grandpa.

"He can’t come."

"He had to remain at the border."

"If some apocalyptic monster were to appear there, the border could fall."

"And many lives could be lost."

We all nodded.

I understood.

The reason we could live peacefully like this was because people like Grandma and Grandpa were fighting on the main battle lines.

Grandma then shared some of her stories with us.

We listened with interest.

They were incredibly fascinating.

I learned about many things in this world that I had never known about before.

Corruption.

Monsters.

Different abilities.

Different types of enemies.

Grandma even mentioned that demons could use corruption as well.

But according to her...

What demons used was like child’s play compared to the true Corruption Beasts.

She didn’t fully explain everything.

Still, I managed to understand fragments of what she was talking about.

Those fragments were enough to give me a vague picture of the threat that existed beyond what I knew.

And that only strengthened my determination to become stronger.

After dinner, we eventually returned to our rooms.

I went with Luna.

As we walked, I suddenly sighed.

"Hey, Luna."

"Is there any skill that can create a physical copy of myself?"

Luna shook her head.

"Not that I know of."

"Why?"

I looked at her seriously.

"If I could make a clone, I could send it to the shopping trip tomorrow while I stayed home."

"Or I could use it to train while the clone goes shopping."

Luna giggled.

"In your dreams."

"You really think Sister Amy wouldn’t realize it was a clone?"

"She’d probably come straight to your room and drag you out of bed herself."

I sighed.

"Then think of another way."

"I can’t stand there and change into hundreds of outfits tomorrow."

"It’ll wear me out."

Luna kept smiling.

Then she suddenly said,

"I’ve got it."

My eyes lit up.

I immediately grabbed her shoulders.

"What is it?"

"Tell me!"

Luna’s eyes widened at my sudden movement.

But then she smirked.

"It’s simple."

"Come willingly and cooperate."

"As soon as we’re done, we’ll let you go."

I glared at her.

"You’re evil."

She smiled.

"It came from you."

"So I’ll take that as a compliment."

I could only sigh.

Eventually, I went back to my room, still sulking.

"Good night."

Luna giggled.

"Good night, Gray."
