Chapter 147 - 2nd floor
I looked around at the new location we had arrived at. In front of us was a massive door.
The big rabbit appeared shortly afterward.
"Welcome to the Second Trial of this Secret Realm."
"Your mission is to enter this boss room and kill the boss inside. The team that manages to defeat the boss in the shortest amount of time will get first place."
"Then, good luck, all participants."
The big rabbit vanished, and the massive door opened.
We looked at each other and nodded.
Amy and Elena told us to stay together.
"Gray, Luna, Elara, make sure the other two are safe. You three keep an eye on yourselves as well."
"Amy and I will take on the boss. Give us support, and if the boss has any mini-bosses, take care of them."
We nodded and entered the room.
Then we took a look at the boss.
What we saw surprised us.
It wasn’t a giant monster.
It was a single skeleton man wearing dark robes, standing in the middle of the room.
As soon as we entered, the skeleton got up.
Hundreds of skeleton soldiers appeared from the floor alongside it.
Amy told us,
"It’s an undead Lich. We need to find its core and destroy it. The hardest part is finding the core."
But I looked at the Lich and immediately noticed a shiny orb in the center of its body.
I pointed at it.
"Isn’t that shiny orb the core?"
Amy looked at it and blinked.
Then she looked closely and saw the orb in the middle of the Lich.
Her speech came to a sudden stop.
She simply coughed and continued as if she hadn’t seen it.
"Okay. You three defeat as many skeletons as you can and make sure you’re safe."
"Amy and I will fight the Elite Guards surrounding the Lich. And one more thing: be careful. The Lich isn’t a hopeless core. It has incredible magical power, so be careful."
We nodded.
The skeletons came closer, and Elena gave us the command to attack.
I looked at Luna.
She had a big smile on her face.
She took out her sword and augmented herself and her weapon with Light Magic, the weakness of undead creatures.
Then she sprinted away.
I smiled at that and took out Eclipse before using Void Step.
Elara used her Water Magic to create water blades and threw them at the skeletons.
I saw the water spread across the ground after her attack.
Then I got an idea.
I used Ice on the water and froze the floor, making the skeletons stop for a few seconds.
Then I used a new spell I had been developing.
I condensed Darkness into small balls and used Space to move them.
They didn’t disappear after a single hit. They were strong enough to destroy the skeletons, so I used Space to manipulate them and attack the skeletons.
It was awesome.
It was like controlling flying swords, but much more lethal.
As long as I had enough mana and could control Space to manipulate them however I wanted, these skeletons were nothing more than decoration.
Some tried to defend themselves with shields and swords, but it was useless.
I could control the direction and force of the Darkness balls.
I crushed their skulls, but they still tried to come at me.
So I focused on their legs instead, immobilizing them and putting them on the ground.
Luna used her swordsmanship to the maximum.
She used Ice and Light as naturally as breathing and destroyed the skeletons.
Elara used her sword with Lightning and attacked the skeletons as well.
But these skeletons kept appearing after we defeated them.
If we didn’t kill the Lich fast enough, they would continue to come.
I looked at Amy and Elena.
They were fighting against four giant skeletons.
I assumed those four were the guardians of the Lich.
The Lich also started attacking with fireballs.
But they weren’t normal fire.
They were black flames.
Then the Lich began summoning magic-user skeletons.
They formed a line and attacked us with various elements.
I used Devour to absorb their attacks, but Luna and Elara got hit by some of them because they had to fight the normal skeletons while also watching out for the magic attacks.
I used Blink and appeared beside them.
Then I moved to the side and augmented Eclipse with Space before swinging it.
A clear slash tore through space.
It traveled toward the magic-user skeletons through Space.
Soon, their bodies were sliced in two, and they all fell down.
Amy and Elena managed to defeat three of the Elite Knights.
As they fought the last one, Luna and Elara made sure no other small skeletons could get close to them.
I used Ice on the tip of Eclipse and Gravity as momentum before charging into the battlefield.
I went on a frenzy, destroying skeletons everywhere.
Amy and Elena finally managed to destroy the last Elite Guard.
Now they only needed to penetrate the shield surrounding the Lich and deal with all the magic it was using.
Amy moved forward and made a path for Elena because she had Light Affinity, meaning her attacks would have a greater effect on the Lich.
I didn’t pay much attention to that.
Instead, I looked at Luna and Elara to make sure they were fine.
Then I checked my mana level.
It was still good.
So I decided to take a milder approach.
I don’t need to waste my mana to the brim in every battle.
I used my Darkness balls again and controlled them with Space, managing to destroy most of the skeletons.
This is my weakness.
I don’t have a proper crowd-control attack, and that Ice Bomb isn’t really a practical approach.
But now I have this.
I just need to perfect it.
I increased their speed and controlled their movements with my mind.
After using the Mana Purification Orb, I could feel a slight increase in the power of my attacks.
So I continued.
After a few moments, all the skeletons fell down.
I looked at Amy and Elena.
They had destroyed the core of the Lich.
All the skeletons under its control fell down at once.
All the skeletons under its control fell down at once.
I looked at everyone else and then went to check on Luna.
I was good friends with Elara, but I didn’t care about her even one-tenth as much as I cared about Luna.
"Hey, Luna. Are you doing fine?"
"Or did our little Evil Princess get hurt?"
A black line appeared on her face.
"Gray, if you don’t have anything good to say, then keep quiet."
I raised both my hands.
"Whoa, whoa, calm down. Your time bomb is about to explode."
"I’m innocent. I just came to see how you’re doing. Even if you’re evil, I can’t be heartless, right?"
"Isn’t that the best?"
She looked at me and didn’t say anything.
"Quit calling me that, or you’ll regret it."
She raised her hand as if she were about to punch me.
I looked at her puffed-out cheeks and wanted to tease her even more.
"But you are evil. See? In the drop of a hat, you resort to violence. Little poor me got beaten."
She looked at my dramatic expression and laughed.
After seeing that she was completely fine, I went to check on the others.
I already knew Amy and Elena were completely fine, so there was nothing to check.
I looked at Elara and asked how she was.
She replied that she was fine as well, so we all went over to Amy and Elena’s side.
Then the giant rabbit appeared again.
"Congratulations! You have successfully defeated the Second Trial of the Secret Realm. But there is no reward for you."
My eye twitched.
What? What is this rabbit up to now?
Do I have to eat rabbit meat tonight?
Amy and the others looked at the rabbit in surprise as well.
But it immediately clarified.
"All participants who successfully defeat the Second Trial boss have a chance to enter a different floor. That floor is filled with loot."
"You normally have 24 hours to complete it, but you took about one hour and thirty minutes to complete the Second Trial."
"So you only have 22 hours and 30 minutes remaining."
"Good luck."
Before we could even talk to it, we were all teleported away.
We appeared in a completely new location.
It looked like a boss floor, with thick walls surrounding the entire area. Everywhere I looked, there were doors.
I looked around but couldn’t find anything.
Then I looked at the others and made sure all of us were in the same room before we gathered together.
I went to luna’s side and we look at amy and Elena for interaction and wait.
But before they have to talk a word that giant rabbit appeared again infront of us to give us more information.
