The Extra who regained his past life memories

Chapter 1 The day everything changed.

My name is Gray Starlight.

I am seven years old.

According to everyone around me, I was born into one of the most powerful families in the world.

To most people, that sounded like a dream.

To me...

It was simply home.

Our mansion was enormous, large enough that I still found new places whenever I wandered around. Servants greeted me with warm smiles wherever I went, and every day they spoiled me more than I thought was necessary.

"Young Master, would you like some dessert?"

"Young Master, Lady Seraphina asked us to remind you not to skip lunch."

"Young Master, Young Miss is looking for you."

It was always like that.

Sometimes it felt embarrassing.

Still...

I couldn’t deny it made me happy.

I walked through the hallway toward the training grounds.

The rhythmic sound of metal striking metal echoed through the estate long before I reached my destination.

Clang!

Clang!

Clang!

There she was.

My older sister.

Amy Starlight.

Even at only ten years old, her sword moved with astonishing precision.

Every swing was clean.

Every step was controlled.

She looked completely focused, as though nothing else in the world existed.

Beside her stood Astrid.

She was my sister’s sword instructor and one of Mother’s most trusted knights.

"Again."

Amy swung.

"Faster."

She adjusted immediately.

"Good."

Astrid gave a small nod of approval.

I quietly sat beneath a nearby tree and watched.

I had seen this scene countless times.

Even so...

I never got tired of it.

Eventually Amy noticed me.

Her serious expression immediately disappeared.

A bright smile bloomed across her face.

"Gray!"

Without caring about sweat or appearances, she ran over and ruffled my hair.

"When did you get here?"

"Just now."

She looked at me suspiciously.

"You’ve been watching this whole time, haven’t you?"

"...Maybe."

She laughed.

"Then how was your amazing big sister?"

"The best."

Her smile widened immediately.

"Hmph. Of course I am."

Astrid sighed quietly beside us.

"You spoil him too much, Young Miss."

Amy puffed out her cheeks.

"And?"

"He’s my little brother."

"So?"

Astrid simply shook her head with a helpless smile.

Watching the two of them bicker made me laugh.

This...

This was normal for us.

Peaceful.

Warm.

Comfortable.

When training finally ended, Amy grabbed my hand.

"Come on."

"Mother is waiting."

Together we walked back toward the mansion.

Mother rarely had time to eat with us because of work.

So whenever she did...

It became something special.

As soon as we entered the dining room, I saw her.

Seraphina Starlight.

To the outside world, she was known as one of humanity’s strongest individuals.

A woman whose name alone was enough to intimidate nobles and world leaders alike.

But to me...

She was simply my mother.

She looked up from the documents beside her.

A small smile appeared on her face.

"You two are late."

Amy scratched the back of her head awkwardly.

"We trained a little longer."

Mother nodded.

"Sit."

We obeyed immediately.

Dinner passed peacefully.

Most of the conversation consisted of Amy enthusiastically talking about today’s training while Mother quietly listened.

Occasionally she would glance toward me.

"Gray."

"Yes, Mom?"

"Did you finish the book I gave you?"

"I did."

"And?"

"It was interesting."

Her eyes softened.

"Good."

Simple conversations like this happened every day.

There was nothing extraordinary about them.

Yet...

I cherished every moment.

After dinner, Amy challenged me to a board game.

As expected...

I lost horribly.

She laughed proudly while placing both hands on her hips.

"Hmph."

"You still have a hundred years before you can beat your genius sister."

"I demand a rematch."

"Denied."

"You’re scared."

"I am not."

"You are."

"I am absolutely not."

Mother watched us quietly before letting out a soft laugh.

Seeing that expression somehow made both of us stop arguing.

Because Mother’s laughter was...

Rare.

The rest of the evening passed peacefully.

Eventually I returned to my room.

Tomorrow would be another ordinary day.

Or so I believed.

The next morning...

Everything changed.

I remembered walking through one of the mansion’s hallways.

After that...

Pain.

A splitting headache unlike anything I had ever experienced.

My vision blurred.

The world spun violently around me.

Then...

Darkness.

...

How long had passed?

Minutes?

Hours?

I didn’t know.

Slowly, I opened my eyes.

The familiar ceiling of my room greeted me.

"..."

Something felt wrong.

No...

Not wrong.

Strange.

An unbearable pain exploded inside my head.

I clutched it tightly.

Countless memories surged through my mind like a broken dam.

A small apartment.

A modern city.

School.

Friends.

A birthday.

A speeding car.

A boy.

Impact.

Death.

Names.

Faces.

Emotions.

An entire lifetime...

That did not belong to this world.

"...Leo..."

The unfamiliar name escaped my lips.

No.

Not unfamiliar.

Mine.

The memories continued pouring in until I could no longer distinguish where one life ended and the other began.

When the pain finally subsided...

I stared blankly at the ceiling.

"...I remember."

Not another person’s memories.

My own.

A life I had somehow forgotten.

A life before I became Gray Starlight.

A life as...

Leo Ashford.
