Chapter 141: Today, We’ll Be With You All Day
Wait a minute.
Why is he holding a child?
Josie Joyce took out her phone, opened the camera app, and began to zoom in.
It was definitely Adrian Grant.
And the child was real, too.
Wait a minute.
A woman also got out of the car.
She quickly snapped a few photos, then zoomed in on the woman’s back.
"Damn it! Caroline Whitman! It’s you!"
Someone who loves you might not be able to recognize you.
But someone who hates you and constantly stalks you online could probably recognize you from your ashes.
Let alone from the back.
Josie Joyce had stared at that back for four years in college!
How could she not be familiar with it?
"Wait, Caroline Whitman really has a child. Could it be a love child with Adrian Grant!?"
Suddenly, she remembered the class reunion at Zanthia. She had clearly seen Caroline Whitman coming out of a private room with a child back then.
Just when everyone thought Adrian Grant wasn’t coming to the reunion, he happened to show up and help Caroline Whitman.
’And at the resort last time, wasn’t the person with Caroline Whitman also Adrian Grant?’
Josie Joyce stared at the dark figure, a scene flashing through her mind.
She quickly opened her photo album and found the pictures from the scandal involving Luna Lynn’s rumored child.
Although someone had scrubbed those photos from the internet, she had had the foresight to save them all.
Comparing the images from the two different scenes, she realized that the man in the photo, who was dressed like a male college student, had a height and build extremely similar to Adrian Grant’s.
No wonder Adrian Grant’s name had been rumored back then.
It seemed the person who started the rumors was, at the very least, someone familiar with Adrian Grant.
And the woman standing next to him—who else could it be but Caroline Whitman.
’I can’t be mistaken.’
The hat and sunglasses Caroline Whitman was wearing today were identical to her outfit from that day.
Josie Joyce connected all the dots. She felt she had uncovered the truth.
No wonder Caroline Whitman had been so rude to Wanda Sutton at the beauty salon that day.
She actually made Wanda Sutton lower herself to add her as a friend.
And it was even less surprising that at Wanda Sutton’s engagement party, Adrian Grant had stepped up to speak for Caroline Whitman.
Thinking of Caroline Whitman’s perpetually proud and aloof demeanor, she sneered.
’So that’s where her confidence comes from.’
That child looked to be at least three or four years old.
"So, does this mean Caroline Whitman got together with Adrian Grant the year he was an exchange student?"
Josie Joyce bit her thumb, her college days flashing through her mind.
She tried hard to recall any moments where Caroline Whitman and Adrian Grant had interacted.
There were too few.
Almost no memories of such scenes existed.
When Adrian Grant had dropped into their class back then, no one knew about his family background, but his face alone was enough to drive many students, both male and female, crazy.
Back then, during his student days, Adrian Grant hadn’t been so unapproachable. At the very least, when classmates came up to ask about schoolwork, he would answer every question politely and courteously.
Even when he was truly annoyed, his rejections were still dignified.
Therefore, during the time Adrian Grant was an exchange student, everyone had a pretty good impression of him.
Otherwise, the class president wouldn’t have invited him to the class reunion every year.
Even though he could never make it year after year.
The one year he finally did attend, it kicked off with such a spectacle.
Josie Joyce minimized her presence and silently followed them. After watching them enter the exclusive VIP corridor and snapping a few more photos, she turned, walked out of the hospital, and dialed a number.
"Wanda, the offer you made me the other day—is it still on the table?"
"Did you get the core information from the Grant Group from Matthew Grant?"
Josie Joyce’s mouth twitched. ’If I had that kind of ability, would I still be calling you?’ she thought.
She composed her expression. "No, it’s about Adrian Grant. If you’re interested."
After receiving the payment, Josie Joyce made another overseas call.
The person on the other end was extremely surprised, and his tone was not very friendly:
"Who is this?"
Josie Joyce put on a flirtatious voice. "Matthew, it’s hasn’t been that long. Have you already forgotten little old me?"
"Josie Joyce?"
Matthew Grant snorted. If it weren’t for the terrible idea this woman had given him to drug Caroline Whitman, he wouldn’t be in his current predicament.
"You have the nerve to call me."
Josie Joyce said, "Don’t be angry. It looks like your uncle has a child. Did you know?"
"A child?"
"A child with Caroline Whitman, no less. The way I see it, you being sent abroad might have been a setup by Adrian Grant..."
"..."
After successfully stirring the pot, Josie Joyce huffed softly.
’Go on and make a mess. Let’s see what kind of trouble you can cook up.’
—
「On the hospital’s exclusive VIP floor.」
"The child is fine. It’s just a common cold. We’ll prescribe some medicine, and he’ll be better in a couple of days."
Hearing this, Caroline Whitman relaxed.
"Mommy, see? I told you I’m fine," the little guy said, shaking her hand to show her not to worry.
He could feel that both times he had gotten sick recently, his mother had been very worried about him—even more worried than before.
Although he was happy that his mom cared about him a little more, he didn’t want her to worry too much.
It made his own little heart go THUMP-THUMP, as if he were afraid he’d contracted some terrible illness.
Caroline Whitman ruffled his hair. "I’ve noticed that the last two times you woke up during a thunderstorm, you got sick."
And they had been right there with the child both times.
’Looks like next time there’s a thunderstorm, it would be better to have a professional nanny stay with this little one.’
Ryan Grant was a little puzzled himself. "I rarely used to get sick, even when it thundered. I’d wake up just fine the next morning."
Caroline Whitman asked, "Did you kick off your blankets?"
Ryan Grant replied, "No way! I wrapped myself up snug as a bug last night."
Caroline Whitman huffed lightly. "And you say you didn’t. I had to cover you up several times last night."
Caught, Ryan Grant could only laugh awkwardly. "Hee hee~~ Mommy~~"
Adrian Grant watched the mother and son "bickering" and suddenly said out of the blue:
"How about we get you a shot? You’ll get better faster that way."
As expected, Ryan Grant’s little face changed. He jumped down from the chair, grabbed his mother’s hand, and looked up at her. "Mommy, once the prescription is ready, tell Daddy we can go home."
Caroline Whitman: "..."
She looked up at Adrian Grant and, for some reason, saw a teasing, troll-like expression in his eyes.
Adrian Grant just felt that his ears were finally getting some peace and quiet.
’The kid can still chatter away, so his condition can’t be too serious.’
Adrian Grant squatted down and picked up the child. "All right, let’s get the medicine and go."
Ryan Grant rested on his dad’s broad shoulder, his worried face finally relaxing. "Do I still have to go to Grandpa and Grandma’s today? Will you guys stay with me?"
In the past, whenever he was sick, his mom and dad would always stay with him.
Adrian Grant said, "You don’t have to go."
Caroline Whitman, following behind, added, "Yes, we’ll stay with you all day today."
"Yay!"
Ryan Grant clapped his hands happily, thinking that getting a cold wasn’t so bad after all.
Caroline Whitman thought this little guy was just too good at providing emotional value.
Just because they were spending the day with him due to a cold, he acted like a left-behind child who had finally been reunited with his parents.
His reaction made her feel a pang of guilt.
