Yes, I Have a Child with the Villain

Chapter 87: It Seems We Have the Same Taste

Miss King was on vacation for a few days, so she had returned to the old family estate.

She was watering the flowers when she received a call from Caroline Whitman.

"Ma’am, what can I do for you?"

"You want to know Sir’s dietary restrictions and preferences? Including any food allergies?"

"Ah, yes. I’ll send you a list shortly."

"Don’t worry, Ma’am. I won’t tell Sir about this."

After hanging up, Miss King wondered to herself, ’Is Caroline planning to cook?’

But not long after she hung up, she received a rare call from Adrian Grant as well.

She answered.

"Sir, what can I do for you?"

"You want to know Ma’am’s dietary restrictions and preferences? Including any food allergies?"

"Ah, yes. I’ll send you a list shortly."

"Of course, Sir. I won’t tell Ma’am about this."

Hanging up the phone, Miss King scratched her head in confusion for the first time.

It seemed the two of them weren’t as close as she had imagined. They didn’t even know what the other liked to eat.

Putting the thought aside, she compiled the food preference lists for both of them and sent them off.

[Miss King: Ma’am does not like sweet dishes. She has no food allergies. Her tastes lean toward spicy food, but she also enjoys light and simple cuisine. Ma’am has not specified any particular favorite dishes.]

Adrian Grant looked at the message from Miss King and mulled it over for a moment before carefully composing a message about his own food preferences and restrictions.

Meanwhile, Caroline Whitman also received Miss King’s message.

[Miss King: Sir prefers light and sweet dishes. He has no food allergies. He dislikes overly oily or spicy food. Compared to other things, pork rib soup is served quite often. Other than that, Sir has no particularly favorite dishes.]

Caroline returned from making the call in her room and sat on the sofa, reading the message and rubbing her chin, lost in thought.

’Good thing I asked.’

So Adrian Grant didn’t like spicy food.

Thinking back, it seemed that Miss King always made one dish with chili peppers, while the rest were all light and simple.

Caroline mulled it over for a moment, then, based on Miss King’s message, she carefully composed a message about her own food preferences and restrictions and sent it.

The second she sent it, a reply from Adrian Grant came back almost instantly.

He had also sent his list of food preferences and restrictions.

Caroline Whitman: [I don’t really have any dietary restrictions and no food allergies. I usually prefer lighter foods and enjoy pork rib soup.]

Adrian Grant: [I don’t have any food allergies. As for food, anything that tastes good is fine. No restrictions. A little spicy or a little light are both okay.]

Caroline froze when she read the line of text from Adrian Grant.

"But... didn’t she say he doesn’t like spicy food...?" Caroline muttered, switching back to check the message from Miss King again.

The disliked foods listed were "heavily spicy, heavily oily."

"..."

Caroline recalled the dishes Adrian Grant usually took at the dinner table, the food he ordered, and the meals he cooked himself.

It seemed most of them were on the lighter side.

There were spicy ones too, but the level of spiciness was hardly worth mentioning.

A few seconds after they had both sent their messages, Adrian sent another one:

[What a coincidence. It seems our tastes are the same, especially when it comes to liking pork rib soup.]

When Caroline saw the words "pork rib soup," she felt a pang of guilt. ’Could he know that I asked Miss King about him?’

Caroline Whitman: [Haha, yeah. What a coincidence.]

The other side didn’t reply, so Caroline said no more.

It felt strange, texting each other while being in the same house.

The next morning, after breakfast, the two of them packed a few changes of clothes and returned to The Seraphic with their child.

The nursery at The Seraphic, specially prepared for Ryan Grant, was also ready.

However, it had just been renovated, so of course the child couldn’t move in right away.

But the little guy was exceptionally happy to see he finally had his own dedicated room in this house. He clung to Caroline, asking if he had a little room at Azure Heights too.

Caroline, of course, said that he did. She had taken some time off work to go back and check on it; the child’s room was completely finished.

But finished or not, he definitely couldn’t move in right away. It still needed to air out for a while.

"Can I sleep in it tonight?" Ryan really liked the decor. The room was big and spacious and filled with toys he loved.

He couldn’t wait to go sleep in it.

But Adrian Grant said, "Not yet. We have to let it air out for a while."

Even though the renovation materials and furniture were of the highest quality and most natural, he didn’t dare be careless when it came to his child.

"Oh." Ryan was a little disappointed, but he still expressed his delight in his small, sweet voice, "Thank you, Daddy. I love this birthday present."

"By the time your birthday comes next month, you should be able to move in."

"Yay!"

Ryan jumped up with joy.

Seeing his son’s delighted expression, Adrian was struck by a sudden whim and asked curiously, "Is it decorated the same as your old room?"

Ryan shook his little head. "It’s different. Not the same at all."

He liked it precisely because it was different and new.

Caroline heard this too. She raised an eyebrow. ’So, are our parallel-world selves different after all?’

While Caroline was still lost in philosophical contemplation, Tiny was already pulling her into the private home theater.

The afternoon sun was scorching, and it was too hot outside, so swimming was out of the question.

Even setting aside the risk of sunburn, they had to consider the possibility of the child getting heatstroke.

So, Adrian suggested they spend the rest of their time watching a movie.

This time, it wasn’t an animated movie to suit the child’s tastes. Instead, Adrian had carefully selected a few comedies that she hadn’t seen before.

Just like last time, the father and son flanked her on her left and right.

The three of them shared a large blanket.

It seemed like there was nothing wrong with that.

’But the last time, when we watched a movie for the first time, didn’t we each have our own blanket?’

And this big blanket had been brought out by the master of the villa himself.

Caroline tried her best to ignore the strangeness of the situation and focus her attention on the movie’s plot.

She didn’t know if her sense of humor was just too refined, but she couldn’t bring herself to laugh.

Leaning back against the sofa, she glanced out of the corner of her eye at the little rascal. The little guy had already laid down, closed his eyes, and seemed to have drifted off to dreamland.

She then peeked over at Adrian Grant. He was watching the movie with a serious expression, not laughing either.

’Then it probably isn’t my problem,’ she thought.

Caroline covertly drew her gaze back and focused on the movie.

After watching for over an hour, she had laughed five times.

When there was half an hour left, the movie entered a sentimental segment. Caroline couldn’t hold on any longer. Her eyelids began to feel heavy, and she suddenly found that resting her head on the top of the sofa was exceptionally comfortable.

It was even more comfortable after she closed her eyes.

And so, comfortably, she fell asleep.

Sensing the movement beside him, Adrian Grant turned his head to look. Sure enough, she was asleep.

As her body slowly slumped toward him, he reached out and drew her into his arms.

He lowered his gaze and watched her for a long moment. Finally, his eyes fell upon her lips, which were a healthy shade of pink.

The light in his eyes behind his glasses dimmed slightly. After a pause, he slowly reached out his hand and gently caressed her lips for a few moments.

The movie ended.

The home theater was quiet.

Suddenly, Caroline’s phone, which she had left on the sofa, began to ring. The sound seemed to startle her awake, causing her brows to furrow slightly and her eyelashes to flutter. She looked like she was about to wake up.

His hand, still lingering on her lips, had not yet moved away when her eyes fluttered open.
