Chapter 172 - Just a Little Performance
From Bell and Draven’s eyes, it was as if invisible sparks were shooting out. This wasn’t any kind of ability at all, but simply the suffocating atmosphere created when the two of them looked at each other with hostility.
"You bastard! Why did you attack me?"
Draven frowned, his expression extremely ugly. As the guildmaster of a large guild, being treated with absolutely no respect like this made him extremely annoyed.
The special feeling he had when he first saw Lailah also temporarily sank down to make way for his enormous ego.
"You’re the bastard. How dare you use those lecherous and despicable eyes to stare at Miss Lailah? I think you’re tired of living to dare have improper intentions toward her."
Righteous words came out of Bell’s mouth. It seemed he had forgotten what he had thought in his head the first moment he saw Lailah.
"Since when did you become gay? You don’t even like someone as beautiful and gentle as her?"
Draven curled his lips and looked at Bell with disdain. Even though Bell didn’t sleep with many different women like him, Bell was absolutely no kind of righteous gentleman pretending to be above it all.
He didn’t know Lailah’s identity, so he even thought Bell was trying to act righteous to put him down and use that as an opportunity to get close to Lailah.
"You’re the gay one! You make such a grand declaration just to hide the femininity inside you, right?"
Being suddenly insulted made Bell instantly furious. Draven only had slightly bigger and stronger muscles than him. He was faster, so he wasn’t afraid.
"You’re asking to die!"
Blocked from approaching Lailah, then insulted and attacked, if Draven kept enduring it, he might as well call Bell his grandfather.
He opened his large dragon mouth full of sharp fangs wide. An extremely bright red point of light appeared inside his mouth.
That point of light quickly grew larger and released terrifying heat, causing even the air to twist.
Bell wasn’t about to back down either. The claws around his hands were now surrounded by fierce winds. He raised his hand as if he was about to unleash a serious attack rather than just fool around.
Both Draven and Bell were no longer paying much attention to anything else and genuinely wanted to fight. Anyway, being insulted so many times without retaliating would affect the face of both themselves and their guilds.
An extremely powerful beam that seemed capable of tearing space apart shot straight from Draven’s mouth toward Bell. The attack seemed like it genuinely wanted to pierce through Bell’s body, forcing Bell to seriously retaliate.
Bell swung his hands at a speed so fast that ordinary people couldn’t see anything at all. From his claws, slashes of wind, though not particularly sharp, carried terrifying tearing power, ripping apart the ground wherever they passed.
Once these two attacks collided, they would at least destroy one-third of the plaza. Casualties among those standing too close were unavoidable.
At the critical moment, four space gates suddenly appeared. The two on the ground swallowed Bell and Draven’s two powerful attacks.
The other two space gates appeared high in the sky, releasing both attacks straight into the air.
They continued flying for several thousand meters before finally colliding with each other, creating a terrifying explosion. The clear blue sky was instantly turned bright red by a firestorm for a moment.
From a dangerous situation, the two combined attacks had now turned into an unexpected ’fireworks’ display for the opening ceremony.
"Enough!"
Zero stood between the two terrifying ’monsters’, his demeanor calm, neither arrogant nor timid. Right now, he truly looked like one of the world’s most authoritative principals.
"This is not a place where you can do whatever you want."
As he spoke sternly, he looked at Bell and then Draven with a warning gaze. But instead of being afraid, the two of them looked at him strangely.
Why didn’t you step in when Nexus was causing trouble? Now that you see us fighting, you step in to stop us. Doesn’t that mean you look down on us, right?
Although they thought that, both of them were still quite cooperative and immediately returned to their human forms. Of course, the hostility in their eyes couldn’t disappear that quickly.
Lailah already found it troublesome enough with Nexus causing trouble alone, and now with Bell and Draven joining in too, she couldn’t possibly continue letting them do whatever they wanted.
"Nexus, stop messing around. Are you really going to let several thousand people keep lying flat on the ground like this?"
As she spoke, she threw a ’powerful’ punch into Nexus’s stomach. Having learned from last time, she now hit him extremely gently to avoid hurting her own hand.
"Hmph, you foolish mortals. For Lailah’s sake, I’ll allow you to stand up. From now on, you should know what kind of attitude you should show, right?"
Nexus dispelled the pressure weighing down on thousands of people like a mountain. As he removed his ability, he spoke in a way that made everyone shudder.
This was a threat! A blatant threat! Before meeting Nexus, no one here would have believed that some arrogant bastard would dare threaten everyone at the American Hunter Academy. Now, everyone could consider themselves to have broadened their horizons after seeing this ’new world’.
"And you two idiots as well. What right do you have to jump around like that in front of me?"
There were clearly three people in front of him, but Nexus only made the pressure affect Bell and Draven. Zero was the principal, so he was lucky enough to escape the ordeal.
But Zero was now in a very awkward situation. If he hurriedly left, he would lose the dignity of a principal. But if he stayed, who knew whether Nexus might suddenly go crazy and force him to kneel?
When things got tough, a clever idea came to him. He immediately came up with a thought that might be able to salvage the current situation.
"I wonder what Lord Nexus thinks of our performance just now?"
